More on Keith Ellison

The head of a pro-Israel ministry says she is upset that voters in a Minnesota Congressional district have elected the first-ever Muslim member of Congress. Keith Ellison will represent the heavily liberal 5th Congressional District in the Twin Cities. The Muslim convert is staunchly pro-abortion and opposes strengthening U.S. borders. But Jan Markell of Minnesota-based Olive Tree Ministries says she is most concerned about Ellison's connections with radical Islamic organizations. "How can he be trusted?" Markell says. "First of all, he's backed by CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. They financed him," she notes, "and he has had ties to Louis Farrakhan. And yet the liberals in Minnesota, a ragingly blue state, thought it was a very cool idea to have a Muslim in Congress hailing from Minnesota." As the newly elected Ellison gave his acceptance speech, the Olive Tree Ministries founder notes, "you could hear the audience shouting, 'Allah akbar! Allah akbar' -- this is coming into one of the highest offices in the country, the U.S. Congress." Under the circumstances, Markell wonders how the U.S. can trust Ellison with some of the top secrets he will receive as a congressman.
