Does this thread actually have a topic? I'm almost positive it did, originally, sincereheart. I don't 'member, tho. I don't rightly know, for sure, judgenot. Try not to judge us for that, okay, pal? Oooooo, good q., bep. Hmmmm, well, if you are travelling at the speed of light, then time stands still. So if time stood still, then the light from your headlights would, um, would, um, um, um....zzzzzzzz POWIE!oops, symphony's head just exploded! Massive meltdown. Shame, shame, bep. Bad question. BAD question. (Oh, BTW, they've announced recently that the speed of light may in fact be variable; i.e., sometimes even FASTER than the speed of light. *sigh* )

Oklahoma Howdy to Symphony, If you are in orbit in a 1964 Buick (with no hubcaps) at the speed of light, what happens when you turn on your headlights?

I can't believe there were no questions about the 1964 Buick or the missing hubcaps. Let me leave this up long enough for Tibby and Sapphire to have a shot at it. Tom

If you are in orbit in a 1964 Buick... Wait a minute, here. Are we talking Orbit, Texas or Orbit, Oklahoma? AND - are you travelling through a speed trap on a Saturday? And if so, does the Justice of the Peace work on Saturday? What is the fine for going 187,999.99 miles per second OVER the posted limit? (Come on BEP - I know your background - I've visited your website - is this entrapment???)

Pop-up speed limit signs - fines based on net worth and the Buick is impounded. Tom

about the United States, what specifically would you change?
I would try to get this thread back on topic and say, " if I could change one thing about the United States" it would be this: The welfare of the American people as a whole be the focus and front thought of the government of the United States instead of money.

I would put prayer back in the public school system. I did hear recently that some states are allowing it again. That's good news. flutterby

Oklahoma Howdy All, If you are in orbit in a 1964 Buick (with no hubcaps) at the speed of light, what happens when you turn on your headlights? First we would have to determine the maximum average speed of a 1964 Buick. If its going the speed of light...its probably being towed. Maybe this is the Rapture. Maybe we really CAN "take it with us".

Brother JudgeNot, you asked for a solution, and here it is: Absolutely Nothing! Believe it or not, this was one of the questions on a test for Accident Reconstruction from the Northwestern Traffic Institute. Several others also involved humor, I guess to prevent insanity before finishing the test. In Christ, Tom

You mean my head exploded for nothing. And WHY does nothing happen?? At least the headlights will come on, won't they? And why is missing hubcaps of any note? Sapph and Tibby'll at least know what hubcaps are, won't they?

Sapph and Tibby'll at least know what hubcaps are, won't they? Oklahoma Howdy to Symphony, Me thinks you had the right answer to begin with. I must offer my sincere apology for your head exploding. Nobody will ever know if the headlights came on or not, as there will be no evidence one way or another. As for the hubcaps, that was irrevelant information given to complicate the problem. There are many still pondering the question and application of the hubcaps. This is a secret. Please don't tell Tibby and Sapph, as they are probably still clicking away on their scientific calculators. If they click away long enough, they will determine that the hubcaps have little to do with the conservation of linear momentum, nor of vector analysis. Tom
