Sylvester Graham, the inventor of the graham cracker, came from a long line of clergymen-physicians.  Does anyone know if the evangelist Billy Graham is related to him?

The Graham surname is a pretty big name and there are a lot of well known individuals with that name. Although there is a remote chance that they are related (after all aren't we all related) it is not likely that they are close relatives.  It's just the same as Billy's wife, Ruth McCue Bell. Just because of the last name some try to relate her to Alexander Graham Bell but there is no relation according to her.

Billy Grahams family was from York County, South Carolina and traceable as far back as the 1800's.

Sylvester Graham was born in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut in 1794. His father was an English clergyman, a graduate of Oxford, who came to this country and settled in Suffield. His father dies at the age of 74 when Sylvester was only 2 years old.
