Here's some good news for everyone needing an excellent office suite of programs and doesn't have any money. Open Office 2.04 is compatible with the vast majority of documents made with Microsoft Office. The biggest difference is that Open Office 2.04 is FREE. Open Office duplicates just about the entire suite, and it actually has higher ratings than Microsoft by many reviewers.
I've been using Open Office for years because I just didn't have the money to keep updating Microsoft Office. I was pleasantly surprised, and I like Open Office better. The latest version of Open Office (2.04) is wonderful and more compatible than ever. One can actually switch the same document back and forth between Microsoft Office and Open Office, and I haven't found a document made by Microsoft Office that I can't use in Open Office. We are talking about word processing, database, spreadsheet, power point, and drawing -
all OUTSTANDING programs that come in Open Office 2.04. Further, Open Office is updated on a regular basis and is open source software. Open source basically means that armies of programmers are working on Open Office all over the world. You should be able to find detailed reviews about Open Office from a large number of well respected sources. The BIG THING to consider is that you have nothing to lose. It's FREE, so you uninstall it if you don't like it. A comparable suite from Microsoft Office is over $400 unless prices have changed drastically.
