Syndicated conservative columnist and best-selling author David Limbaugh says values voters were instrumental in delivering Republican victories in the last two presidential elections -- and that as the mid-term elections draw near, Democrats are having a hard time deciding what to do about that. Limbaugh's latest book is titled Bankrupt: The Intellectual and Moral Bankruptcy of Today's Democratic Party. He says the Left impugns conservative Christians as "science-rejecting and reality-challenged bigots." But Limbaugh says it is the liberal Democrats who cannot handle reality. "Democrats were caught as deer in headlights when it was revealed in the exit poles of the 2004 presidential election that values voters were the largest block of voters, accounting for the Democrats' second presidential defeat in a row," the author shares. Limbaugh says it is not that liberals do not have values, but that they just have values that are secularly based -- which he considers to be "destructive of the fabric" of American culture and society. "They can repackage [those values] all they want, but they are not going to fool social conservatives who know values when they see them," he says. That is why, the conservative columnist adds, it is important for values voters to get to the polls on Election Day and not remain at home.
