The parable of the master , 3 slaves ,and talents.
Could it have also been taken literal???
What does the Bible say about being a good stewart??
Is it sinful to not become more finacially lterate??
Thoughts??

Hello carey, welcome to CU forums. I have a thread about the parables, below is a link to that thread, I do hope it helps you.
Jesus is more concerned with our soul and our spirit man more than He is with our obtaining wealth. He supplies all our needs, while it isn't sinful to be prosperous it isn't sinful to be poor

Thanks I liked the link.
But what I was referring to was if we have the ability to have more oney and we dont act on it. It is kinda like stealing isnt it.
If we are too lazy to make the extra money or save it is'nt that taking away from how much we could give??
God bless,

I'm glad you liked the link Carey, I have posted quite a few parables there. It is not a sin to have wealth as long as you don't make your wealth your god, I'm not referring to you I'm just using a figure of speech, God delights in the prosperity of His servants, and He wants us to prosper even as our soul prospers. Jesus reminded us to seek first the kingdom, and also not to store up riches on earth but instead store them in Heaven. We should use our prosperity to help spread the Good News and to help the needy.
Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Again I am in aghreement with you but I do not want this thread to get away from its original focus.
Is it sinful to intentionally saty financially illiterate?? If we do not want to learn from those who have more finacial achievement than ourselves ,isn't that purposely saying no I dont want more so I can have more to give??
God bless,

Carey, the Bible tells us a lot about a lazy person, it also tells us that if a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat. So if what you mean is a man not working at all then that is the man the Bible speaks of, however if a man just wants to work and work to accumulate riches that is also sinful, because it is God who supplies our needs.
Pr 10:26 ¶ As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him.
Pr 12:24 ¶ The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.
Pr 12:27 ¶ The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, But diligence is man's precious possession.
Pr 15:19 ¶ The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway.
Pr 19:24 ¶ A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
Pr 20:4 ¶ The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.
Pr 21:25 ¶ The desire of the lazy man kills him, For his hands refuse to labor.
Pr 22:13 ¶ The lazy man says, "There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!"
Pr 24:30 ¶ I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;
Pr 26:16 ¶ The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly.

Carey,
Let me guess:
You have a pyramid sales scheme of some sort, and at least one of the products deals with weight loss. That would explain two of your threads that don't make much sense, and that would show that you are going to a lot of trouble to violate the forum rules.
This or anything like it is against the forum rules. Please do read the forum rules. NOTHING like this will be done here. You will simply waste your time by trying, your posts will be deleted, and you will be banned.

Should we not listen to what God has to say on such manners regarding finances? I think we should. Sometimes things can be put in front of us that look great and can be seen as an awesome opportunity...but really they are plans that are bound to fail. So, I would be inclined to say that looking at the information others are giving isn't really a good idea. We should listen to what God says and ask to be guided by His will and His word regarding such matters. I am a firm believer that when we stop and listen to what God says and impresses upon our hearts to do, we can be nothing but good stewards. Stewardship is like anything else in Scripture. God enables us to be good stewards, but ONLY when we seek His guidance regarding finances. When we seek God's will regarding our finances, there is no way we can be illiterate because it is God that will guide us in what we should do.
For example, and this is just an example, say on Sunday morning you forget to give your tithe and somehow leave the money at home before sunday morning service and on your way back to the church in the evening or whenever you head back to the church for the next service, you come across this child on the road, this child is vey thin and looks very sick. You stop to help the child. He says that he's been abandoned by his parents and is wandering the streets looking for food, but has no money to get food. Here you have say $25 and you pick the little boy up and take him to get food. Now you end up missing church or are late for church after you help the boy get to a center or shelter to where people can take him in and give him food and shelter. You arrive at church and you don't have any money to give to the church. Now are you in the wrong by not having a tithe to pay the church? No, your act of kindness has revealed Jesus and you were an example of God's grace to that little boy.
Now the example that I just gave you has happened in real life with my pastor from my home church. Now do you think he made the right decision? I should think so because he showed Jesus through his actions, even though he didn't give his money to the church, he still furthered the Kingdom of God. That brings me back to my point. When we seek God's guidance on an issue such as finances, we'll more than likely receive an answer on what we should do. So point being, in regards to finances...i don't believe it's sinful, however, I do believe that we should seek God's guidance on finances. I have to head to work now, so i'll call it a day, hope this helps all who read it. God Bless.
Coram Deo,
Joshua

I too believe giving to the needy is the same as tithing.
I know we must learn from others how to read, how to walk, how to put on our clothes, How to use a hammer, how to drive a car. God does not give us this informatiopn
We should get info on finance from others who know more about it. And then trust Gods guidance on what we do with that info.
God bless,
Carey

I dont care what you say. I am not trying to sell anything.
If someone wants something from me all they need do is ask.
But you guys need to chill out and start acting more Christ like .This is a Christian site is it not?
Yes it is and as the moderators of a Christian site it is our proper place to insure that individuals are not breaking the rules and that other Christians can come here without the worry of someone trying to con them into buying a product, a service or to con them out of their money in any other sort of way. Now I will tell you again .... get to your point.
