Pope Benedict  XVI is under attack for a speech he made in Germany on Tuesday during an address at a university.

The Pope's speech quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

"He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached'."

The Pope was accused of trying to revive the Crusades.

This has caused anger amongst the islamists some of which have compared the Pope to Hitler. Others gathered in protest against the Pope, burning him in effigy during a protest in Srinagar, India.

Yet we never hear of any outrage from any of the muslim organizations against the atrocities and hatred speeches made by islamist leaders against Christianity. The truth of the matter is that the islamic community is the one that is reviving the Crusades with their attempt to take over the world. It was the islamic community that started the Crusades in 645 AD and not the Catholic Church which did not start in the Crusades untill around 1080 AD when Pope Urban II preached the first European Crusade against the muslims.

Brother Roger,

I find it very ironic that quoting portions of the Koran would have resulted in the same thing. Regardless, the fact remains that the Koran prescribes violence and death for those who refuse to convert to Islam. That is their Holy Book, and it really doesn't get any more simple than that. It either says it and they are teaching it, or it doesn't. The fact is that the Koran does say it and they are teaching it - plain and simple. Nobody can deny it, and they are teaching it all over the world - including right under our noses.

SO, it is OK for Islamists to quote the Koran that prescribes violence and killing, and it's also OK for them to teach it in all of their schools. BUT, it isn't OK for a non-Muslim to quote the Koran or state the truth about what's being taught in their schools. SO, what's wrong with this picture? We don't need to talk about what happened centuries ago, we can talk about what's going on right now all over the world. We really don't need a political song and dance. It's a simple fact from the Koran and in their schools - end of story. Further, it's plain and simple facts that what was prescribed and taught is being carried out every day around the world. SO, any politically correct song is grossly off-key with false words, and the politically correct dance is with three left feet.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Somali cleric wants pope hunted down
Sheikh's judgment comes after pontiff says some Islamic teachings 'evil'

A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia's powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to "hunt down" and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.

Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses.

"We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion," he said in Friday evening prayers.

"Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim," Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.

"We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope," he said.

Reached by telephone on Saturday, Malin confirmed making the remarks that were echoed in less strident form by other senior clerics in the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia (SICS).

Another SICS executive member, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullahi, vented similar anger at the pope's "barbarous criticism" but stopped short of calling for his murder.

"He must apologise because he has offended the most honorable person who ever lived in the world," Abdullahi said.

The German-born leader of the Roman Catholic Church has been condemned in the Muslim world for comments he made at a Tuesday lecture, in which he implicitly denounced links between Islam and violence, particularly with reference to jihad, or "holy war."

The pope also quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor who said innovations introduced by the Prophet Mohammed were "evil and inhuman."

Somalia, a Horn of Africa nation of some 10 million mainly moderate Muslims, has been wracked by instability for the past 16 years but has recently seen the rise of fundamentalist Islamists who seized the capital in June.

With this and with all the riots the muslims are doing because of the Popes statements it looks to me like the muslims are just showing that the Popes statements are in fact true.

Good point! If islam was really a religion of peace they would have responded peacefully.
