SCHWARZENEGGER SQUASHES RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Thomasson: “Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces. He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back.”

RESPOND NOW: Call Governor Schwarzenegger's office to express how appalled and angry you are for him attacking religion, and what his signing SB 1441 means to you as a voter

Sacramento, California – Campaign for Children and Families is shocked and dismayed that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed SB 1441 (Kuehl). Today’s disastrous action by Schwarzenegger means Christian and other faith-based colleges in California will be forced to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality if they accept students with Cal Grants.

“People of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California-based pro-family organization. “SB 1441 will force religious colleges to either abandon their Biblical standards on sexuality, or reject students with state financial aid. Schwarzenegger is doing what Gray Davis did – trample religious freedom at the bidding of liberal activists from San Francisco and West Hollywood.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces,” said Thomasson. “He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back. People of faith are suffering under Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s not the lesser of two evils, he’s doing evil.”

CCF had informed thousands of Californians about SB 1441, generating thousands of phone calls, faxes, and emails opposing this offensive bill. Last week, the Governor was faxed letters pleading for a veto by Christian colleges, including Westmont College (Santa Barbara), Shasta Bible College (Redding), The King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys), Vanguard University (Costa Mesa), Life Pacific College (San Dimas), Trinity Law School (Santa Ana), William Jessup University (Rocklin), and Simpson University (Redding).

Supported only by Democrats in the California State Legislature, SB 1441 specifically requires “any program or activity that…receives any financial assistance from the state” to support transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality or lose state funding. SB 1441 contains no exemption for religious colleges and universities that accept students with Cal Grants, or child-care providers that accept CalWORKS vouchers.

CCF’S FLOOR ALERT OPPOSING SB 1441

Campaign for Children and Families opposes SB 1441 (Kuehl), which would trample the religious freedom of faith-based colleges and universities, infringing on their values for sexual standards and appropriate role models for the children and students in their care. SB 1441 could easily harm the religious freedom of dozens of religious colleges and universities in California that accept financial aid for students. There is NO EXCEPTION for Protestant, Catholic, Jewish or other religious institutions.

1. Trampling Religious Standards

SB 1441 requires “any program or activity that… receives any financial assistance from the state” to support and promote “gender identity” (transsexuality) and “sexual orientation” (bisexuality and transsexuality). By importing these controversial sexual lifestyle definitions from the Penal Code, this intolerant bill tramples the religious values of faith-based institutions:

- Penal Code, Section 422.56(c) "Gender" means sex, and includes a person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.

- Penal Code, Section 422.56(h) "Sexual orientation" means heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.

If signed into law, SB 1441 would mean religious colleges (which accept students with state financial aid), children’s day care centers and after-school programs (many which receive state funding) could be forced to allow men to wear women’s dresses and hire transsexual, bisexual or homosexual instructors. SB 1441 would destroy these institutions’ standards for role models and their dearly-held values to provide for the best interest of children in their care.

2. Forced Upon Religious Universities, Private Child Care Centers

The Senate Judiciary Committee noted how the effect of SB 1441 was “wide-ranging and deep,” affecting both religious universities that accept students with state financial assistance (through Cal Grants), and private child care facilities (through CalWorks child care vouchers):

Because Gov. Code Sec. 11135 covers not only the state but also state agencies and any program or activity at the local level that receives funding from the state, the impact of this bill is both wide-ranging and deep.

It will also affect contractors with the state (such as nonprofits), where the services provided locally are funded directly by the state or where the contractor receives any financial assistance from the state.

Some of the programs that would be affected by this bill are: Medi-Cal, State Disability Insurance, CalWORKS, food stamp programs, Unemployment Insurance, Workers' Compensation, financial aid programs administered by the University of California or the California State University, child support services programs and services for veterans, legal services programs, home loan assistance programs, licensing of businesses, government contracting and procurement activities, and voter registration.
-- Analysis of SB 1441, Senate Judiciary Committee

The Assembly floor analysis reports that all kinds of financial aid programs would be affected by SB 1441:

Some of the programs that would be affected by this bill are: Medi-Cal, the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, food stamp programs, unemployment and disability unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, financial aid programs, child support services programs, services for veterans, legal services programs, home loan assistance programs, licensing of businesses, government contracting and procurement activities, and voter registration.
-- Analysis of SB 1441, Assembly Floor

OTHER SEXUAL INDOCTRINATION BILLS HEADING TO SCHWARZENEGGER

SB 1437 prohibits textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities from "reflecting adversely" on transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality, thus indirectly requiring positive portrayals of these sexual lifestyles in curriculum in all grades in all public schools. Consequently, schools would have to promote "same-sex marriages" and even sex-change procedures. SB 1437 is on the Senate floor.

AB 606 authorizes the California Superintendent of Public Instruction to arbitrarily withhold state funds from any district that does not adequately promote the State Department of Education’s “model policy” promoting transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality in its school policies. Clears the way for transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual curriculum to be forced on all public schools. AB 606 is on the Senate floor.

AB 1056 would spend $250,000 in taxpayer dollars to promote transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual lifestyles under the banner of "tolerance education." Redefines "tolerance" to allow schools to force attitudinal support of transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality. AB 1056 is on the Senate floor.

---END ARTICLE---

This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! There are NO WORDS in the english language to describe how angry it makes me that a supposed pro-family governor would cave to the community of homosexual activists! And what makes this even worse is that this quashing of religious and freedom of conscience is TAXPAYER FUNDED!

Look for more of this kind of thing in the near future. It is getting worse by the day. I don't mean to sound like a fatalists at all but we do know that the Bible tells us these things will happen.

Brothers,

It sounds like it time for:  1) decent people to leave California,  2) Or see what the Christian legal associations might be able to do. This is just one in a long line of examples where California appears to be falling down in the pit.

If I lived there and there wasn't a very good chance of reversing it, I would definitely leave. This is a sad and evil world, and it's getting worse by the minute. BUT, I don't think this gives Christians an excuse to sit down and be quiet. Just the opposite - Christians should stand up and call evil what it is - EVIL! Silence is calling evil good.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Some more comments on this bill:

"The gates of hell are prevailing against the church," Randy Thomasson, president of the Campaign for Children and Families, told WorldNetDaily. "It's because Christian colleges and churches have ignored the political process for so long. Now the political process, absent religious values, is coming back to assault the church."

"This isn't even a veiled attempt at subtly advancing the radical homosexual agenda," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute. "SB1441 is an outright, blatant assault on religious freedom in California."

California Christians urged to yank kids
Activist says children will be 'molested by the curriculum'

There would be "panic in the streets" if Christian parents in California decided that a state-mandated pro-homosexual environment no longer is for their children and took up homeschooling, one leader in education says.

"It would be a wakeup call, heard around the country or perhaps the world," Charles B. Lowers, the executive director of the pro-family Considering Homeschool organization told WorldNetDaily.

His comments came just a day after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill requiring even Christian colleges where students receive state grants to condone homosexuality, transsexuality and bisexuality.

Lowers said that should be over the top for any parent but especially Christian parents, who should pull their children from public school systems.

"'Heck no, our kids won't go!' should be the rallying cry of Christian parents this week as school starts, instead of following the broad road of perversion and destruction that California schools are offering," Lowers said.

Lowers said while Christians need to contact their representatives and the governor regarding that bill – and others that are pending in a legislature he describes as "sold-out" to the leftist, liberal agenda – the newest mandate from the state "should be the last straw."

"It is estimated that anywhere from 80-90 percent of Christians are still sending their children off to government schools – it's like the church is behaving like a bunch of lemmings," Lowers said.

"Worldview surveys show that the majority of kids from Christian homes are humanist by graduation," he said. "School-based 'clinics' are expanding … to ensure that your daughters get birth control and abortions without you knowing. Now that the homosexuals are dictating curriculum, 80-90 percent of Christians should be homeschooling, not the other way around," he said.

"Public school is no place for innocent little kids. If they don't get molested by the John Karrs who are in the system, their minds and hearts will be molested by the curriculum," he said.

"Instead of the traditional three R's in California's public schools, children are learning Rebelliousness, Relativism, and an R-rated lifestyle," he said.

Considering Homeschooling was started by Lowers and his wife in 2001, and it seeks to reach Christian parents with encouragement for their homeschooling ideas and guidance toward that activity.

"What our focus is, we are reaching out and recruiting Christian parents, especially Christian parents of very young children, babies, toddlers, preschoolers. They have the most to lose by sending their children to state schools," Lowers said.

"The educational establishment in America really has pulled the wool over most parents' eyes. Almost every parent teaches their child to speak English or whatever is their primary language. They've done the bulk of the teaching of the basics. But the establishment has put this aura around education and (says) only certified teachers should be teaching. Those teachers are less qualified than you to teach your children. You know them," he said.

He said in California, the public schools are controlled "by a group of elitist, leftist, homosexual socialists."

"Their agenda should not be the same agenda as Christian parents. We have really been putting it on the line here, saying to all Christians, 'How could you in good conscience, knowing what you know, now send your children to public school?'" he said.

According to the National Home Education Research Institute, homeschooling may be the fastest-growing form of education in the U.S., with growth rates of 7-12 percent per year. Estimates show there are about 2.5 million home-schooled children in the United States.

That saves taxpayers roughly $16 billion annually, studies say, while at the same time those students generally perform better on standardized tests and go to college at a higher rate than those from public schools.

Significantly for Christian parents, studies show that among homeschooled students, 94 believe in Jesus when they graduate, but only 15 percent from public schools do.

The NHERI noted that a survey of adults who were homeschooled showed 72 percent participating in ongoing community service such as coaching a sports team or volunteering at a school. The comparison for other U.S. adults was 39 percent.

YEAH! More props for Homeschooling! It's about TIME for parents in this country, ESPECIALLY CHRISTIAN PARENTS, to take back the responsibility of educating and raising their own children instead of allowing a relativist government to do it for them! Were I not already out of the system, I would take up the battle cry myself!

I thank GOD that homosexual relationships are not legally recognized in this state!

Sexual indoctrination' bill vetoed
Gov. Arnold torpedoes 1 of 3 plans created by 'girlie-men'

One of three "sexual indoctrination" bills pending in California has been vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and family interest groups are ecstatic – so far.

"California families recognize this bill was an attack on religious freedoms in school," said Karen England, executive director of the Capitol Resource Institute, after the announcement today. "There are still several other bills on the governor's desk that also deserve his veto."

The bill vetoed today was SB 1437, which had been approved by the Legislature. It would have prevented any school teaching materials or activities from "reflecting adversely" upon homosexuals, bisexuals or transgenders

Former Assemblyman Larry Bowler, R-Elk Grove, had told a rally just a day earlier that in his six years as a member of the Assembly Education Committee, "Never, never, in all the thousands of bills that I voted on in that committee, did I ever see anything even close to the destructive decadence of these three bills.

"The bills are not education, they are indoctrination, designed to inculcate our children and our grandchildren," he said.

"Thousands of Californians called, e-mailed and wrote letters to the governor urging him to veto this bill," said Meredith Turney, CRI's legislative liaison. "The governor heard their protests and vetoed a bill that would have seriously infringed upon students' religious freedoms."

Turney said the bill shows the legislature's priorities are out of synch.

"At a time when many California students struggle to pass the Exit Exam, the legislature is more concerned with advancing a radical political agenda than focusing on the basics: reading, writing, and arithmetic."

England said the bill was just "another attempt by radical homosexual activists to confuse children on matters relating to sexuality."

"The government has no business undermining the moral upbringing of children. Classrooms, where children are supposed to gain the fundamental tools of learning, should never be used to indoctrinate children for political purposes," she said.

There had been a rally in front of the California statehouse just a day earlier, sponsored by Campaign for Children and Families.

The crowd chanted, "veto, veto, veto," and called the governor's office on their cell phones to demand the vetoes. Officials later said the governor's office was adding more telephone lines because of the number of calls that flooded in.

Protesters also expressed their frustration with Schwarzenegger for his Aug. 28 signing of SB 1441, which will force religious colleges – if a single student is attending on a state grant – to promote transexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality.

CCF President Randy Thomasson said that "tramples the religious values of faith-based institutions."

"The Christian colleges are very afraid," Thomasson said. "They are huddling together talking about a plan of action."

Craig DeLuz, president of the Robla School Board, said SB 1437 would have allowed only "positive images of homosexuals in any context of education."

"Meaning that if you wanted to talk about the spread of AIDS, if you wanted to talk about high-risk sexual activities, male-to-male sexual contact could not be mentioned because you'll have violated SB 1437," he said. "But that's the truth! What kind of law hides the truth?"

CCF Latino spokesman Luis Goldamez was even more blunt.

"We can no longer allow girlie-men in this state or any state to dictate to our children what they're going to teach them. We need to see them face-to-face and tell them, we have our pants on the right way, we are men and women, we are not confused. And if anyone needs to teach our children, it needs to be us parents, not girlie-men from this building or any other building," he told the rally.

Thomasson had told WorldNetDaily at stake are the "hearts and minds" of 6.5 million schoolchildren in the state.
