~Daily Inspirational~  WHEN TROUBLE COMES--PART 4    FEBRUARY 15, 2007

WHEN TROUBLE COMES - Part Four
BY RICHARD JORDAN

A FALLEN CREATION

Romans 8: 19ˇ22 gives an insight into something that by our own experience "we know" to be accurate:

"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

"For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope.

"Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

"For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."

The history of creation can be set forth in three parts: first, God said it was good. Then, because of the fall of man, He cursed it and it has been groaning ever since. One day it will be glorious, having been delivered from the bondage of corruption by the return of Jesus Christ. We currently live in the groaning stage.

We know by experience that "the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." And what of the claim made by some that believers are exempt from this common lot of creation? Paul answers in the next verse of Romans 8:

"And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body" (Rom. 8:23).

Far from being exempt from the "pain and travail" of life in a fallen creation, we "which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves." And what are we waiting for? A deliverance from pain and suffering when we claim it aright? A healing program available if only we believe enough? No! We have something far better. You see, the healing program for our "vile bodies" is "the adoption" --the "redemption of our body." It is at the Rapture that the healing program for the Body of Christ will be accomplished. It is then that our Savior:

" ... shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself" (Phil. 3:21).

At present we live in a fallen creation, a creation cursed by sin. This explains why, as the hymn writer says, "change and decay all about I see." The reason there is decay and death in the world is because there is sin in the world. The world is held in "the bondage of corruption" because of Adam's sin (Rom. 8:20, Gen. 3: 17-19). This is the reason there are calamities and unexplained horrors about us.

There are many things that are going to happen simply because we live in a world cursed by the corruption of sin. Because of this fact and based on Rom. 8:22,23, we can make a prediction: If the Lord tarries, we are going to get sick, suffer pain and eventually die. Why? Because God does not love us or have our best interest at heart? Far from it. Rather this is the common lot of all creation "until" Christ returns to deliver creation into His Kingdom glory.

Notice Paul's explanation that this groaning is "until now." The time when "sorrow and sighing shall flee away" and creation will be delivered into "the glorious liberty of the children of God" is the kingdom reign of Christ (e.g., Isa. 35). In order for the present dispensation of grace to be extended, He must postpone that day of deliverance.

Thus we continue to live in a sin-cursed world, not because God does not love us but because His dispensational purposes are being carried out. Because He continues to extend His grace to a needy world, we are going to have problems and ultimately be overtaken by sickness and death. But that grace has transformed our infirmities in to "light afflictions " which "work for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."

~Daily Inspirational~  WHEN TROUBLE COMES--PART 5   FEBRUARY 16, 2007

WHEN TROUBLE COMES - Part Five
BY RICHARD JORDAN

BAD CHOICES

A second reason we experience problems is the simple fact that we--and others--often make bad choices. Most of us do not think we do--but we too often do! And our choices have consequences.

God. is often blamed for evil things that happen to people when the fact is we have this inherent drive to do things our own way. Provo 14:12 records the repercussions:

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

But why doesn't God stop these calamities brought on by our bad choices? Well, how would we have Him do so? Should he kill everyone .. for "all have sinned"? Should He take away the free will of man .. making us mere automatons?

God allows bad things to happen because He allows free will to be exercised. The only option would be for people to be robots--which, of course, would destroy His purpose of having made us in His likeness and image. There are all kinds of hardships brought about by the exercise of free will. The fact is we too often make bad choices!

Gal. 6:7-8 makes our responsibility for our choices quite clear:

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

"For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

My friend, no one is going to mock God. "Fools make a mock at sin," the Book says (Prov. 14:9). To think we can live in sin, pleasing ourself and ignoring what God's Word says, and have no consequences to face is to play the fool indeed. Sin will get you every time. The law of the harvest is always the same: We reap what we sow. The Word of God declares, "Be sure your sin will find you out" (Num. 32:23) for "they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same" (Job 4:8).

"He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption." And this is written to believers .. not lost folk. The plain fact of life is that if we sow to the selfˇ life, our lives are going to fall apart, disintegrating about us in tragedies and hardships.

If we face what really happened, we will be forced to admit that there are many problems in our lives caused by bad choices--sinful, uninformed, bad decisions. Whether made by us or others, there they are, and by God's grace we can face them honestly, set matters aright and proceed on with a "walk in wisdom."

~Daily Inspirational~  WHEN TROUBLE COMES--CONCLUSION   FEBRUARY 17, 2007

WHEN TROUBLE COMES - Conclusion
BY RICHARD JORDAN

GODLY LIVING

A third source of trouble is a bit more salutary than the before, but it is no less real.

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" (II Tim. 3:12).

When we desire to live "godly in Christ Jesus" we must remember that this world is no friend to grace. We will find that the world will not love Christ living in us any more than it loved Him living here in person. We can get along in the world .. on the job, in our neighborhood, during recreational activities, etc . .. as long as it is us living. But when it begins to be Christ living in us, the same world is going to react to Him the way they reacted when He was here .. and remember, they hated Him "without a cause."

We are not talking about religion or simply doing "good works." We are talking about having Christ living in and through us. As we come to understand who God has made us in Christ and allow His life-- His attitudes and His actions-- to find expression through our lives, we are going to "suffer trouble." Col. 1:24 is an illustration of this in the life of Paul:

"Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church."

A PROPER RESPONSE

Trouble is going to find its way into our lives.. "Man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward" (Job 5:7). While we would hope that most of those problems would come from that third reason, come they will. And we must be prepared for them --we must "know that tribulation works" for us. Grace frees us to realize that our troubles are not the result of God punishing us but rather can be used as a context for His grace to train and discipline us to walk by faith. Paul reminds us:

"..... God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (I Cor. 10:13).

All kinds of hardships come into our lives and with them God is faithful: He desires us to trust His provision for us in Christ and allow Him to train us by transforming our minds by the discipline of grace. The issue isn't being "delivered" from our problems; the issue is being "able to bear it "--strengthened "unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness."

How else could God cause us to "escape" the trouble by enabling us to "bear it"? Obviously we are not delivered from the problem in the sense of the difficulty being taken away. Rather, God makes the trouble productive by equipping us to deal with it in a proper manner so that we are built up to grow stronger in our inner man. Our "tribulation" becomes the context in which by faith we apply the sound doctrine of God's grace. Thus tribulation produces patience--staying with God's truth even under great pressure--which produces experience--practical skill in applying the Word to the circumstances of life .. which produces "hope--and hope maketh not ashamed. "Thus confidence and maturity is produced in our lives as we walk by faith. All this equips us for more effective service. II Cor. 1:4 tells us of "the God of all comfort:"

"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."

There is little practical value in having sound doctrine in our heart if we never go through any problems that cause us to draw on that truth and have it come forth in our lives to God's glory.

Just so, problems are not meant to destroy us .. they are not God's attempt to punish us or get even with us for our sins and failures; He has already dealt with our sins at Calvary. Rather, they offer an opportunity to have the truth of God and the life of Christ come forth through our bodies of flesh to His glory when trouble comes. Let's walk by faith in the riches of God's grace to us in Christ!

~Daily Inspirational~    THE VALUE OF BIBLE STUDY     FEBRUARY 18, 2007

THE VALUE OF BIBLE STUDY
by C. R. Stam

"From a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (II Tim. 3:15).

Timothy was a fortunate young man. His father was not a believer in Christ, but his godly mother made up for this lack as, day after day, from his earliest childhood, she taught him the Word of God. As a result he came to know Christ at an early age and later became St. Paul's faithful co-worker and close associate in making known the wonderful "good news of the grace of God."

In his very last letter the great Apostle Paul recalls Timothy's "unfeigned faith... which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice" (II Tim. 1:5).

If only we had more such mothers and grandmothers today, with husbands to help them! If only our American children were not set adrift on a restless sea of human speculation, but were taught the eternal truths of God's Word, the Bible!

We all need to "know the Holy Scriptures," not only because they teach reverence for God and build moral character, but most of all because they "are able to make [us] wise unto salvation through faith... in Christ Jesus."

The theme of the Bible, the Old Testament as well as New, is the Lord Jesus Christ, the riches of whose saving grace are unfolded to us in the Epistles of Paul, the chief of sinners saved by grace. It was to Paul that God committed the preaching of the cross of Christ. He it is who tells us about the riches that flow from Calvary. He it is who tells us, by divine inspiration that:

"...WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH [CHRIST'S] BLOOD, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE" (Eph. 1:7).

"THAT IN THE AGES TO COME HE MIGHT SHOW THE EXCEEDING RICHES OF HIS GRACE IN HIS KINDNESS TOWARD US THROUGH CHRIST JESUS" (Eph. 2:7).

~Daily Inspirational~   THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE BELIEVER       FEBRUARY 19, 2007

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE BELIEVER TODAY
by C. R. Stam

Grace and faith are the characteristic features of the present dispensation. Not only is salvation now declared to be by grace, through faith, but the Spirit also operates in the believer by grace, through faith. He does not take possession of us and cause us to do what is right, but dwells within each believer (I Cor. 6:19) to provide needed guidance and the strength to withstand temptation, and we may avail ourselves of this provision by faith.

The Spirit, Who first imparted life to us will also impart strength to withstand temptation and overcome sin. In our inability to even pray as we ought, "the Spirit... helpeth our infirmities" and "maketh intercession for us" (Rom. 8:26). In our weakness we are "strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man" (Eph. 3:16) and God even stoops to "quicken [our] mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in us" (Rom. 8:11).

"Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh" (Ver. 12).

The implication from the above passage is that though sorely tempted we are debtors to the Spirit who dwells within and provides overcoming power.

The question, in times of temptation, is generally whether we truly desire to overcome, for we may overcome in any given case by grace, through faith. In the present dispensation it is not true that it is not possible for the believer to sin, but it is blessedly true that in any situation it is possible for him not to sin, for the Spirit is always there to help.

~Daily Inspirational~     "WITH CHRIST"      FEBRUARY 20, 2007

"WITH CHRIST"
By Paul Hume

There is a well-known Negro spiritual which begins with these words: 'Were you there when they crucified my Lord?' The immediate answer is 'No, I wasn't there: But after deeper reflection we have to answer differently, 'Yes, I was there-in the person of Jesus Christ.'

'How do you arrive at that?' we inquire, The Word of God --especially in the epistles of Paul--sets forth a marvelous truth. It centers in another 'big-little' word. This word is 'with.'

When Christ was crucified, we were crucified 'with Him.' When Christ died, we died 'with Him.' When He was buried, we were buried 'with Him..' Then when He arose from among the dead, we were raised 'with Him.' When He ascended and passed through the heavens, we ascended 'with Him.' When He took His seat at the right hand of the Majesty on High, we were seated together 'with Him.' When He appears in His glory, we will also 'appear with Him in glory.' Then the promise is that if we 'endure, we shall also reign with Him' (2 Timothy 2:12).

Now all of this speaks not so much of our union with Christ as our association with Christ. We were 'with Him' in His death, burial, resurrection and enthronement. We are 'with Him' in His glorified life now. We shall be 'with Him' in the ages to come, This is glorious 'positional truth.' But what about the experiential side of this blessed truth? How does this affect my daily life here on earth?

It means that by faith, based on the divine facts. I reckon myself to have died with Christ unto sin and 'the elements of the world' (Romans 6:2-11; Colossians 2:20); to have been buried with Christ in death (Colossians 2:12); to have been 'quickened together with Christ' (Ephesians 2:1,5); to have been 'raised up together' with Christ (Eph. 2:6); to have been 'made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Ephesians 2:6.) God has already accomplished these feats, and it is up to each one of us to believe what God has spoken and to rest upon them.'

Then it also means that I presently share in the very life of Christ.  We are 'saved by His life' (Romans 5:10). We have been called 'unto the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord' (1 Corinthians 1:9). This involves communing with Him, meditating in His Word of Truth, engaging in praise and prayer and drawing wisdom, grace and strength from Him. It means also not only to suffer for Him, but to 'suffer with Him' (Romans 8:17). Only His grace can enable us to do this, since we naturally are averse to suffering. But what eternal rewards will be ours if we do so!

Finally, it means to walk with Him 'in newness of life: 'How can two walk together, except they be agreed?' (Amos 3:3.) As we daily 'trust and obey' we can walk together in every circumstance, and experience what one hymn writer states, 'It is glory just to walk with Him!'

Are you not only 'in Christ' but 'with Christ' today!

~Daily Inspirational~   "Walking in Him"       FEBRUARY 21, 2007

"Walking in Him"
Ephesians 1:18

It should be the heartfelt desire of all believers to know the will of God. While volumes have been written and spoken on this subject, it seems to me that most have missed telling us that we are God's will. Let's look at Ephesians 1:18.

Eph 1:18 (KJV) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

Looking at the word enlightened, we find that this may be fully rendered having had light thrown upon, or having had illuminated to the eyes of your heart. The construction of this is as such that prior to giving to them a spirit of wisdom and revelation, they had their eyes of their hearts enlightened. This can be interpreted to include their initial salvation when the Lord transferred them from darkness to light. Furthermore, it implies that the results continued.

Since the passive voice used indicates that one other than themselves, namely, God the Holy Spirit, had enlightened them. There is no way for those who are in the sphere of darkness to be launched into the sphere of light part from God Himself doing the launching. The eyes of a depraved heart are blind, totally incapable. God the Holy Spirit, according to sovereign election, had and continued to enlighten their hearts. (Eph. 4:18)

Paul says that the object of enlightenment is "that ye may know" better rendered "unto the end that you may know" that you may know three key things? We need to recognize that God's sovereign enlightening, this was not an end in itself, but was unto the end that they might be knowledgeable regarding their spiritual eyes. God will give via the Spirit, minds of wisdom and insight into the Truth for the Church.

The first specific aspect of the Mystery which Paul wants them to know is "what is the hope of his calling," This means the expectation, anticipation and that which is looked forward to. The word "calling" as used here, means a summons, an irresistible invitation, and a non-disobeyable order to come. Now lets put this in an amplified translation, God has given to believers spiritual enlightenment to know the hope, expectation and anticipation that belongs to His sovereign calling, summons and irresistible invitation.

The calling is Gods sovereign purpose of making man alive in Christ and members of His Body, the Church. (Romans 8:30; Phil.3:14;Phil 1:21)

The second specific aspect which Paul desires them to know is "what is the richness of the glory of his inheritance in the saints." Since the word for "richness" is in the singular, speaking of only one things that belongs to the glory of His inheritance, it should be translated rich, opulent, and profuse the glory is which belongs to God's inheritance. This word defines the quality of the "glory" which in turn, describes God's inheritance.

Now let us look a the statement "his inheritance in the saints." The possessive pronoun "his" clearly indicates that this inheritance belongs to God. It is an inheritance which God has in the sphere of the saints, i.e. the saints themselves are the inheritance. Rich, opulent, and profuse glory surrounds and circumscribes God's inheritance, the saints. Apart from what God has done for us saints, "having blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ...Eph. 1:3 having foreordained us unto a position of sons... and having made us heirs" with Christ, we would not be a rich and glorious inheritance (vs3,5,11.) Paul wants all the saints to know that God has sovereignly made them a rich-in-glory "inheritance" or possession for Himself. We are God's will.

PRAISE THE LORD

~Daily Inspirational~  DIVINE GUIDANCE - Part One       FEBRUARY 22, 2007

'DIVINE GUIDANCE - THE CHRISTIAN'S PREROGATIVE' - Part One
By Late Pastor L. Peterson
Genesis 24:27; Proverbs 3:5-7.

'I being in the way, the Lord led me.'

The above text had its birth. In the experience of Abraham's servant seeking a wife for Isaac. Abraham spoke to his servant saying 'Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.' The servant promised Abraham and thus went in search of the proper girl to become Isaac's wife. He went to the land from which his master had come. In his journey he had asked God for guidance so that he would not err in his choice and that he would always be in God's will. God did guide him and in acknowledgment of this heavenly guidance, the servant gave the testimony of our text: 'I being in the way, the Lord led me'. Gen. 24:27.

The Christian has every right to expect divine guidance in life. It is the Christian's prerogative to have this supernatural guidance. There are however, certain principles and laws under which we live and work. If we go in accord to these divine laws we will know and have God's best for us. The astronauts in their journeys into space work in harmony with God's laws. The precision of their instruments are accurate only as they obey or synchronize with these laws. The space ships are guided by certain stars that God long ago placed in space. So it is spiritually as long as the Christian works in harmony with God's plan he or she may know His leading in their lives. Proverbs 3:5-7 sets forth our Heavenly Father's order to be followed in realizing His guidance for our lives. You, dear friend, cannot err in obeying His Word. It is your prerogative to have this supernatural guidance. Here are the necessary steps in experiencing your rightful heritage.

First, there must be an absolute and total confidence in God. Provo 3:5. The writer of Proverbs declares 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.' Another translation presents it this way: 'You be persuaded in all your heart upon God, do not prop yourself up' (or lift yourself up). The inspired text is crying out to a young man who is journeying through life. He is on the road of life and has not traveled that road before. There are many pitfalls and unmarked ways. The experience of travel can only be learned by travel. No academic training or study can take the place of experience. The traveler coming to unmarked 'Y's' will need divine guidance, he cannot trust his own and must resort to another's wisdom. This is why in the first seven chapters of Proverbs the inspired writer cries out 'My son - my son - my son.' Note Proverbs 1:10. 'My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not'; 2:1, 'My son, if thou wilt receive my words .... ; 3:1, 'My  son, forget  not  my law ... '; 4:l, 'Hear, ye children. the instruction of a father ... '; .5:1, 'My son, attend unto my wisdom...'; 6:1, My son, if thou be surety for thy friend .... ' and 7:1, 'My son, keep my words ... ' These expressions are the cries from a heart and if you please, the heart of your Heavenly Father begging you to follow His guidance. He knows the road better than His servant. His beloved Son, our Savior has gone the road before us and knows the hazardous journey. He knows you need guidance and you know it too if you will honestly acknowledge it. You may profit by His guidance and wisdom but you must not, you cannot do so without 'absolute and total confidence in God.' You must not 'prop yourself up..' You must not make crutches of your own to find your way in life. You must learn to lean On God and trust Him completely. Your own maneuvering will never do. You cannot trust your own feelings in the matters of decision. Feelings will often mislead you. Have you ever been lost in a deep dense forest? It is a real strange experience. You will in such experiences always have certain convictions and feelings as to directions. You must never trust them, they may be entirely wrong. People who have been lost and found often tell tales of how they walked for hours thinking they were going in the right direction and learned that they had just walked in circles. They had gone no place. Christians often do this for they do not resort to a complete trust in God abandoning their own ideas and feelings. Oh! hear the cry of a wise father; 'My son ... trust in the Lord with all thin heart; and lean not to thin own understanding.'

~Daily Inspirational~  'DIVINE GUIDANCE - CONCLUSION     FEBRUARY 23, 2007

'DIVINE GUIDANCE - THE CHRISTIAN'S PREROGATIVE' - Conclusion
By Late Dr Lloyd Peterson

Secondly, there must be a complete acknowledgment of God's interest in your life. 3:6. The wise father says 'In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths'. A better translation of this verse is found in an old English manuscript. It reads, 'In all thy ways think Him.' This is the sum total teaching of the text. It is simply saying, 'Count God as a partner in your journey through life.' Clarke says, 'Begin, continue and end every work, purpose and device with God.' God is interested in your life. Do you realize this? If He were not, why would He send His beloved Son to this planet to die for you. If He were not, why then would our Savior say in speaking of sending the Holy Spirit, 'He will guide you.' It is absolutely true that God is interested in you and your life. He is more interested in your life and your journey through it than you can possibly be yourself. He wants you, as a Christian, to take Him in as a partner. This is not only in your vocation, or service as a Christian, but in your avocation or means of livelihood. What you are doing to keep body and soul together is God's business and you are but His steward in that service. Please remember this, dear friend. Count 'Him in' -- in every consideration of all items of life. Don't buy, build, train or travel without considering God's interest in the decisions.

The blessedness of all this is the fact that you will never make a mistake following His guidance. Oh, young people!  This is so important to you. Life in its journeys has many uncharted ways. You must travel them and you need guidance. Let the Master pilot your vessel. Hear the hymn writer in his song of petition.

'Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life's tempestuous sea,
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rocks and treacherous shoal;
Chart and compass come from Thee,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.'

A favorite painting of mine is that of a young, energetic and handsome lad. He is standing in the pilot house of a ship. The sea before him looks stormy and uncertain, but the lad looks confident and certain. He seems sure and at perfect ease. Be-hind him stands the Master, our Lord and Savior, with one hand on the shoulder of the lad. This is what Solomon the inspired writer means when he says, 'Son, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths'.

Thirdly, there must be open lines of communication. 3:7. The proverb says, 'depart from your own wisdom.' Our text says, 'Be not wise in thine own eyes'. When we resort to a message from no higher source than our little brain, we are already lost. It is so easy to become conceited. (i.e. have or entertain the idea that all wisdom has it's origin in our thinking). A wise person realizes the depravity and inability of the flesh. Communication with God is broken when we make our decisions without God. Don't be so conceited that you feel you have the answers. Complement your-self and God by keeping in touch with Him.

The proverb also says 'Depart from evil.' A better translation is, 'bend away from all evil.' It is said of Augustine that after his conversion to Christ a former paramour saw him and ran to greet him. The young convert started running away from her and she cried out 'Augustine, it is I.' Augustine retorted as he fled, 'but it is not I.' This is turning from evil. We must do so in life to keep lines of communication open so that our Heavenly Father can give us guidance for life. An officer of World War II was asked, 'What is the most dangerous part of battle and what do you fear most?' He answered, 'When lines of communication are broken.'

Dear friend, do you wish to possess your heritage of divine guidance? Do you have any interest in your own welfare? Then learn to obey the truths from Proverbs. Have absolute and total confidence in Cod. Pave complete acknowledgment of His interest and keep the lines of communication open.

The fruit and blessedness of this is expressed in verse 8, 'It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones'. As a child is in the womb of its mother and receives all nourishment and life through the umbilical cord, so the child of God is in the womb of the universe and his or her only means of true life is found in proper union with God. You have the choice to accept or reject the wise council of God as given in our text. Accepting it you may at the sunset of life say, as did Abraham's servant, 'I being in the way, the Lord led me.' Rejecting it, God declares in another of Solomon's letters, 'Rejoice, 0 young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine yes: but know thou that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.' Ecc. 11:9.

~Daily Inspirational~     UNWARRANTED DISAPPOINTMENT    FEBRUARY 24, 2007

UNWARRANTED DISAPPOINTMENT
By Miles Stanford

"Oh, wretched man that I am!" (Rom. 7:24).

The result of, and penalty for, reliance upon the flesh, is Romans Seven. The result of, and reward for, dependence upon the Holy Spirit, is Romans Eight.

"Self-disappointment is a very different thing from self-judgment. Indeed, if there were true self-judgment there would never have to be self-disappointment. If in honesty and sobriety of heart I have judged 'that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing,' I shall certainly not expect anything from myself, and it has been well said that where there is no expectation there can be no disappointment.

"But I feel sure that many young believers, and I dare say some old ones too, are very familiar with the wretched and depressing experience of self-disappointment. They have made many fresh starts; they have often been stirred up, and have made up their minds to be more for Christ; they have thought, 'I shall do better now; I am more earnest about it than I was before'; but it has all ended in disappointment.

"They have no idea that they are trying to improve themselves; they would repudiate such a thought; they suppose that they know better than to look for good in themselves. And yet their disappointment is the plain proof that, in spite of all their know-ledge of Scripture, they have expected to make themselves different, for they are disappointed because they have not succeeded in doing so." --C.A.C.

"The soul that turns back upon itself to learn God's judgment about it, and what His dealings with it are likely to be, is not leaning upon what the Father is - is not standing in grace. Neither our joy nor our peace is dependent on what we are to Him, but on what He is to us - and this is grace." --J.N..D.

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him" (Ps. 62:5).

~Daily Inspirational~   BE, TO DO    FEBRUARY 25, 2007

BE, TO DO
By Miles Stanford

"The Spirit of truth takes of what is Mine and will make it known to you" (John 16:15, Wey.).

Fruitful service results from growth, not works. All sharing must be motivated and governed by life: "the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" (Rom. 8:2).

"The Holy Spirit came to reproduce the Lord Jesus in the lives of men and women. The Church is that or it is nothing; the teaching relates to that, or it has no meaning. Any movement of the Spirit is in that direction, or we have entirely misunderstood. He came to conform us to the image of the Son; everything has to be tested by that.

"All our activities and efforts and energies and expenditures; all our sacrifices, our movements and our teaching: everything that has become a part of 'Christianity' has to be measured by the one rule - is it resulting in the reproduction of the Lord Jesus Christ in the lives of men and women, so that it is demonstrated from heaven that He is as truly here in this world now as ever He was in history?" T.A-S.

"It is a mistake to measure spiritual maturity merely by the presence of gifts. They may be present and they may be valuable, but the Spirit's object is something far greater - to form the Lord Jesus Christ in us through the work of the Cross. It is not merely that a man does certain things or speaks certain words, but that he is a certain kind of man. In the long run it is what we are, and not simply what we say or do - and the difference lies in the formation of the Lord Jesus within."

"The Father first uses the active talents of His servants; then He polishes the other side of the stone, making the passive graces shine - patience, meekness, etc."

"My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you" (Gal. 4:19).

~Daily Inspirational~   ATTITUDE      FEBRUARY 26, 2007

ATTITUDE
By Miles Stanford

"I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude ... saying, Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent REIGNETH" (Rev. 19:6).

Once we become aware that our sovereign Father is reigning and is in full control, our faith becomes a set attitude and we are able to honor Him by resting in His faithfulness under all circumstances.

"Joseph gives a wonderful example of a man who does not know what God is doing and yet who by faith cooperates with Him at every step of the way. At each phase of his experience, even when perhaps he was most bewildered, Joseph gave God the cooperation which He requires for the fulfillment of His purpose. This relationship can only come by faith. It does not necessarily entail an understanding of the procedure of things, but it certainly cannot be given unless we are absolutely convinced of the Father's supreme control over all.

"The man who imagines that things have got out of the Father's hands, that they are not working out as He intended, or that Satan or his agents are really in control, is the man who is not in a position to give the Father the required cooperation in it all. This is unbelief. And unbelief is the greatest hindrance we can offer to the Father's working. This cooperation is a matter of heart-attitude, of spirit, and means that we go quietly on, cheerfully and faithfully glorifying the Father where we are, not fretting or praying to be moved somewhere else." -T.A-S.

"The strength of the vessel can be demonstrated only by the hurricane, and the power of the Gospel can be fully shown only when the believer is subjected to some fiery trial. If the Father would make manifest the fact that 'He giveth songs in the night,' He must first make it night." --W.T.

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him" (Rev. 19:7).

~Daily Inspirational~  THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS BURIAL

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS BURIAL
By  Jack Trumm

We want to look at the third event - and that is our Lord's burial and see why this is important in the gospel message and what it means for us today.

First of all, why is the burial of our Lord so important in the gospel message for today? After all, is it not the normal thing to do when someone dies - to bury them? It would seem to be the decent thing to do. Yet Paul stresses the burial of Christ in his gospel message when he says in 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins, and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

So again we ask the question, why would God reveal to him to emphasize the burial of Christ? The answer to that question is found in Romans 6:3-8, "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life, for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him."

Also it says in Colossians 2:11-12, "In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

The first thing we want to emphasize is the baptism in Romans 6:4. It is not referring to water baptism, but it does say "we are baptized into Jesus Christ." And it also says, "we are baptized into his death." The word baptized here means submerged or identified with, and that is exactly what happened to anyone who trusts Christ as his or her Savior - he or she is identified with Christ's death, or in other words Jesus Christ has died your spiritual death, when Christ died on that cross he took our sin nature (which we inherited from Adam) and put it to death. "For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly." "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:6, 8)

Seeing then that Christ has died our spiritual death, we can see then in Romans 6:4 that "we are buried with him." In other words when our Lord's body was buried, our old nature or sin nature was buried with him.

Because of this wonderful part of the gospel, (the burial of Christ) God sees the believer as one who is made righteous because of what our Lord has accomplished through his death and burial. Seeing then we are identified with our Lord's death and burial, this brings up the question. Who identified or who baptized us into the body of Christ? Is this accomplished by a pastor, bishop, or a teacher of the word"? Let's go to God's word for the answer to this question. I Corinthians 12:13 tells us "for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body ..... ". It is God the Holy Spirit that baptizes, or identifies us with the death and burial of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So then as believers, God sees us as being made righteous because of our Lord's death, burial, and resurrection. Once again I think it is important to stress the fact that it is not by anything which we have done, but rather it is by all that HE has done.

"For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works (or anything we have done) lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9)

In conclusion, What does the burial of Christ mean to us. It means, Our old Adamic nature is buried with him in His burial. Praise God for this. In our next edition, we will look at the resurrection of Christ and see what it means for us.

~Daily Inspirational~  THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS RESURRECTION  Part 1

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS RESURRECTION
Part 1 of 2
By Jack Trumm

Continuing our study of the five events of our Lord's sacrifice, starting from His death on the cross to His ascension into heaven, we want to look at the fourth event - His resurrection.

Let's start by asking ourselves a few questions.

   1. Did He really come back to life after He died on a cross, shed His blood, and was buried?

   2. If He did rise from the dead, what was the purpose of it?

   3. What does His resurrection mean for us, as believers?

   4. What does His resurrection mean to unbelievers?

We shall start with the first question, did He really rise from the dead? Most of the religious world believe that He did, but let's go to the scripture to prove that He did.

First, the proof of an empty tomb and the testimony of an angel. "And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted: You seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen: he is not here: behold the place where they laid him." (Mark 16:5-6)

Secondly, the proof of all who saw Him alive again with their own eyes, "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that he was seen of James; then all of the Apostles. And last of all he was seen of me (Paul) also, as of one born out of due time." (I Corinthians 15:3-8)ˇ "To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God." (Acts 1:3)

So, here we have several quotes from God's word to prove that Jesus did rise from the dead. So then this brings us to our second question concerning his resurrection. What was the purpose of His resurrection. Once again we need to go to the word of God for the answer.

Paul writes by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, ''Now if Christ be preached that He rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching in vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ; whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. (I Corinthians 15:12-17)

What this tells us then, if there is someone seeking to be saved, and he or she comes to the understanding that what Christ has done on the cross of Calvary, through his death, by the shedding of his blood, and was buried and he or she truly believes (faith) this, but does not believe that Christ rose from the dead, then their belief (faith) is vain, and they are yet in their sins. So we can see then from this passage of scripture how important it is for us to believe that Christ did indeed rise up from the dead. For Paul includes this important part of the gospel in his message.

"Moreover, brethren I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand: By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." (I Corinthians 15:1-4)

Again Paul writes "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)

This then brings us to the third question.  What does his resurrection mean for us, as believers.

First of all the resurrection proves that God is completely satisfied by the offering for sins of the Lord Jesus Christ. His holiness and righteous standard has been met in His once for all sacrifice, by His death of the cross. So we know by the resurrection that our sins are indeed forgiven.

"But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead: Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." (Romans 4:24-25)

Secondly, when we believe, the Holy Spirit (by Spirit baptism) places us into the resurrection of Jesus Christ and now we can walk in newness of life, in the same spirit and power that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

"Know ye not; that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection." (Romans: 3-5)

~Daily Inspirational~  THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS RESURRECTION  Part 2

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS RESURRECTION
Part 2 of 2
By Jack Trumm

Thirdly, His resurrection guarantees our inclusion into a wonderful future event ("our gathering together unto Him" or the Rapture).

Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles also tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18. "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep (or those that have died before us). For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

And so this is what the resurrection means to us as believers. But now comes our fourth question, "What does it mean to unbelievers?"

The resurrection of Jesus Christ proves who will be the judge for the unbeliever on judgment day, "but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. " (Acts 17:30-31)

With all of this being said, this brings up another question, and that is To whom then does this resurrection of life apply to? It applies only to those who have become members of the church, which is Christ's body. "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." (I Corinthians 12:27)

How do we become members of the church, the body of Christ? By believing (faith) the gospel that was revealed to Paul the apostle to the Gentiles, and that was "how that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day." (I Corinthians 15: 3-4)

When did this wonderful act of God's righteousness take place? The most common answer to that question would be 2,000 years ago, which is true time wise.. But let's go again to the word of God for the true answer.

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die." (Romans 5: 6-8)

Do you believe this? If you do, then you have a part in this resurrection of life. If you do not believe, there is another resurrection of the dead. John tells us in the book of Revelation "and I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away: and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire."  (Revelation 20: 11-15)

There we have it, we as individuals have a choice, we can (accept), (trust), (believe) what Christ has done on the cross of Calvary through his death, burial and resurrection was for me and have the assurance of eternal life, or we can (reject) or (believe not) this wonderful gospel of salvation and be cast into the lake of fire. The choice is ours.

Which do you choose?

So, in conclusion, what does the resurrection of Christ guarantee us?

THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST GUARANTEES US OUR JUSTIFICATION..
