Iran calls for Russia's more active role in Middle East
Tehran, July 25, IRNA

Russia-Middle East-Envoy
Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Gholam-Reza Ansari here Tuesday called on Moscow to take a more decisive role in solving the Middle East crisis and stopping Israel's barbaric attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.

He made the remark, while talking to the Russian radio station, Echo of Moscow.

Ansari condemned Israel's aggression on Lebanon and its demolition of the country's economic infrastructures and said that given Russia's influence and position in the Middle East, it can have a positive impact on solving the crisis.

The Iranian diplomat said that the extensive, unequal and preplanned attacks of Israel on Lebanon resulting in the death of hundreds of innocent people has been planned by the US to materialize its goals in the region which is executed by Israel.

In response to a question about the connection of Lebanese Hizbollah with Iran and Syria, he said, "One way to materialize the inhuman targets of the US and Israel in attacking Lebanon and confronting the Lebanese resistance forces is to attribute such resistance to extraregional parties."
Turning to Iran's support for the Lebanese people and government, he said that Lebanon's Hizbollah is quite active in social, educational and health fields and renders various services to the Lebanese people in these domains.

"Besides, Iran appreciates the activities in line with the unique resistance of Lebanon against Israel, while backing it with its spiritual and ethic supports," he added.

Replying to another question about Iran's refusal to recognize Israel officially, he said that the Israeli regime is illegitimate and has been formed by force.

"A legal government can only be elected in the occupied lands through free election. Followers of all religions and the Palestinian people should have a chance to elect such a government," he added.

The Iranian diplomat said that the current crisis is rooted in injustice, crime and discrimination.

I'm sure this is probably on another thread somewhere, but You know, in 2005 Israeli intelligence was said to believe that Iran only had 1 1/2 more stages left to run to achieve war grade plutonium.  Back then they believed it would take Iran till roughly between April thru September of 2006 to finish this final stage.  No doubt, Iran is using everything thats going on to stall for this process to be completed.

I have no doubts that Israel, being busy in Lebanon have not forgotten about Iran.    The question is, what day does the IAF have marked on their calenders, within that time frame, for taking the Iranian issue into their own hands, because the International community is drawing blanks?  And, how will Russia respond to the enormous bombing campaign that would be required for the IAF to have any real impact on Irans underground nuclear facility's.

If Israel does this,

Yup I think I posted back in Jan, Iran would finish the last stage.

If Israel does this,
Bozo has said, he would have an answer for the UN, Aug 22.
I would look for a time following,  and then I would If I was him.

Moscow asks Damascus to limit response if attacked

Reuters

Damascus: Moscow has asked Syria not to use Russian missiles to retaliate if attacked by Israel, diplomats said yesterday.

Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov delivered the message to senior Syrian officials in Damascus last week, as the risk of Israel's Lebanese offensive expanding into a regional war rose, the diplomats said.

"Saltanov told them Syria can use Russian anti-aircraft missiles to thwart Israeli air attacks, but that Russia objected to using Russian Scuds to retaliate," one diplomat, who did not want to be identified, said.

"The Russians don't want their missiles to hit Israeli cities. Syria, however, has more advanced North Korean missiles," another diplomat said.

Syria, which relied on Russia for military supplies during the 1970s and 80s, has diversified its arsenal in recent years to include Chinese and North Korean weapons.

Diplomats say Syria has a formidable stock of surface-to-surface missiles that can hit deep into Israel, plus an array of Russian surface-to-air batteries.

Although no longer as close to Syria as during the Soviet era, Russia has called for a ceasefire in Lebanon and said Israeli attacks went beyond an anti-Hezbollah operation.

If Israel does this,

Thinking about this brother, this maybe why Israel is getting that bomb shipment.

That thought has crossed my mind as well.  IOW, Why would Israel need munitions for what they are doing in Lebannon.  I doubt they are running low.....lol   Do we know the exact type of munitions that were to be expidited in some news article?   Say maybe bunker buster type bombs?

Israel is importing more precision munitions from the United States in preparation for an extended anti-Hezbollah campaign:

The New York Times reported Saturday that the decision to rush the shipment was reached after little debate within the administration. The "smart bombs" - bombs which are equipped with precision guidance devises, are part of an arms deal reached months ago between Israel and the US, but the fighting in Lebanon led Israel to ask for an expedited delivery of the bombs, before the agreed scheduled of supply.

Don't forget that bunker busters are precision guidance bombs. I also doubt they are running low on bombs.

What does IOW stand for??  Huh

Maybe.   Grin Grin Grin

I am sure that neither Israel nor the U.S. has forgotten about Iran. It has been said that Iran is behind Hizboolah doing what they did. An attempt to make a distraction to take the worlds mind off of what they are doing. It may have worked as far as the general population is concerned but it hasn't worked for the governments. When Iran does attack there would be a problem with many other groups that are a threat to Israel. Hizbollah being one of the greater. Israel taking them out or at least weakening them before that time is an important move on their part.

I am expecting to see Israel attacking another one of their enemies in this manner well in advance of the Aug 22nd date and just as soon as they have Hizbollah in a position where they want them. Weakening each of them to where they will be nothing and therefore being able to concentrate on Iran all the more.

This will probably be what brings in many other nations against Israel.

Naturally this is all speculation but it is based on the mindset that Israel has shown in the past. Good Military strategy.

lets not forget Brothers the few nukes the US "lent" to israel just before the 7 day war, that were "misplaced"

even if they were finally returned Wink..........I am certain Irael still has the ability to escalate this beyond comprehension if provoked.

not to mention that Israel has aircraft far superior to much of the world with the exception of the stelth capibility of the US. This technology is also available to them through a recent congressional desision to ease the cost to the US Air Force. Is there a quick delivery scheduled??

The US and Israel have been at odds with the UN for the last 20 years and I don't see that likely to change soon, add to it that the UN has plans for the region, (muslim plans) and that Israel has methodically and ruthlessly Grin stood in their way with the assistance of the US. Without securing Israel as a muslim state the UN would again stall in the progress of the next step of world control. Without unity inthe arab region, the UN can not absorb the communist nations, or move to absorb the US by force without the communist nations.

Lets be real, why else would the UN have been so tolerant of Iraq unless they didn't want Sadaam removed at all. Why has the UN stood silent while wars flair all over the world that could easily be settled? The UN does not want world Democracy, they want a world dictator chosen by them. Forget elections, the people don't have the knowlage to make desisions, the UN has to do that for us.

They need Israel. It is the last real obstical to their progression in becomeing a real world organization, with clout.
