I like the KJV poetic style, but learned much about words with the amplified version paraphrase.
For accuracy, I have heard that NIV is accurate, but leaves out many verses. Believe it or not, I have heard people even detract from the strongs concordance on translations of plain word veracity. Sometimes, people stretch versions and translations to the limit in order to say what they want to hear - tickled ears, I fear?

Hosea 11:10  They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
