Which bible translation do you favour? Which translation do you study from most often? If you have multiple translations,
which one do you most often use?

I have a copy of most of them, though I use the RSV most often for study, and tend to read either the RSV or the KJV.

Oklahoma Howdy to Seven Tides and Broken,
I have about 15 or more translations of the Holy Bible, but I enjoy and use the KJV the vast majority of the time.
I love the poetic quality of the KJV, the accuracy, and the way it works with my study guides. Most of the better dictionaries, commentaries, and topic notes are specifically designed to be used with the KJV. I also use a KJV with Strong's Numbers quite frequently. This is the identical translation, but it has quick links to additional information in each Scripture.
In Christ,
Tom

I read the NKJV most of the time, with KJV being a close second.

I have alot of diff translation in my home, NIV, NKJV, KJV, living bible, bibles for children, with pretty picture, even have a bible that is wrote in a comic strip fashion that we used to do devotions with our children. Each of my kids have their own bibles as well. I get a new one most every year about reason why for them.
I'll use all of them, expecially when I studing or looking for info on let say end times. My computer desk looks like a library, and the book selves are full of diff books to help me as well, I also have a bible on CD rom, all the diff texts and historical books to go with it......and I can't even remember how many diff bibles are on that.
funny tho I usually end up using the book NIV, and KJV instead, that CD is so hard to work with.

For most of my 25 years as a Christian, I used the KJV. But in recent years I find I like the NKJV.
Though my very first Bible was the Living Bible, it was not long before God showed me to use the KJV. When I told Him it seemed harder to understand, He gave me 2 scriptures.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding." [Prov. 3.5 NKJV].
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide into all truth..." [John 16.13 NKJV].
He told me to always pray before reading the Word, and That His Holy Spirit would give me the understanding. So in one way, I do not think the version is as important as weather we are leaning on our own understanding to understand it. But I also feel there are versions that just go to far in changing what the Word truly says.

For general reading - e.g. if I want to read a whole letter or section of a historical book - I use the Revised English Bible (a British publication) and the Roman Catholic New Jerusalem Bible, both of which are clear, fairly accurate (as accurate as any translation can be) and are fairly good literature too. At present, I'm using the Welsh translation for my devotionals.
For study and preparing for sermons I use the NRSV (which is the version our church's lectionary uses), the NIV, the Nestle-Aland Greek NT (UBS 4), the Zondervan edition of the Greek Septuagint and the REB (see above). I also find it interesting looking at the two French translations I have to see what happens in other languages.

KJV is closest to the Greek and Hebrew versions in study.
I think it's all right to preach and teach in almost all translations of any language that's out there, but when you study and it really matters word-by-word I use the KJV, strongs and the Hebrew/Greek ground text/translation.

I was raised on the KJV. I have since used the ASV, NAS, NKJV, and the ESV. Recently I have returned to the KJV almost completely. These other translations have their merits, but when the going is critical, I would not be willing to be stranded on an island with any other than the KJV. Some very reputable theologians, men of unquestionable, sincere faith,
have praised the ESV, but it deprives some of my favorite texts of the fulness of their richness. For example, compare these versions rendering of Jer. 30:19 - 31:14
