WAITING

your breeze upon my face your embrace
the consistency of a faithful love
a positive suspense commence the chase
your the only one Im not afraid of

on this canvas your paint drops like blood clots
my life is your finished touch on stained wood
just the thought makes my heart stop
patiently you keep what you created in me good

you inspire the sunrise on abandoned shores
when castaway lost hope finds you in the sunset
drowning out the silence even on the ocean floor
reminds me of how solitude is where we first met

when I return you remind me how love grows
each moment you seek to spend is amazing
how my eyes look you over at times I don't know
but it takes my breath to see you waiting

HELD

I want to give you, my entire day, and let my heart lie still
embrace the grace you give and feel my well be filled
Your timing amazes, enslaving, every aspect of my being
my hope spuns growth by grace a sight worth seeing
every time, you touch my life, I yearn anxiously for more
like the wind upon my face embraced upon the ocean shore
On this sand I stand, and hesitate, if my life to you is pleasing
shifting faith would seem to make you want to leave me
my only constant, ceasing waves, that knock me where I stand
Love cannot express the rest felt held within your hand

SECOND CHANCE

Instrumental elegance inspired by rhyme makes me dance
I turned him down, yet he pursued me, my second chance
Hand on the small of my back, stepping forth, He leads
I gaze, still amazed, wondering what brings Him back to me
Refuted, rebuffed and ignored in the midst of my weakest hour
And when I spin He pulls me in this resistant wall-flower
The music fades as we sway and peace is all I have left
Grace guards my heart, fills my hope, and guides my steps
I smile knowing this chase leaves nothing for my heart to contend
A consistent adoration that never fails me, that never ends

I think I know what Love is but I've clouded my own judgment
Too much contemplation in what is should be and what wasn't
Analyzing what I gamble and forfeiting my luck in the crap shoot
I roll the dice you call my bluff and the joker smiles when I lose
Shot calling with an empty hand and no deal is risky business
The stakes are high but I take a chance on my ability to win this
Its a game of uncertainty where you pay before you drop the slot
And you want more in return when pockets scream that's all I've got
Being broke in sin-city requires that you give in order just to make it
But when I wage mercy and grace please take my heart and break it

Hello PoemOfHis,

You asked someone earlier in the thread about "what they saw", and you haven't gotten an answer yet. SO, I'll tell you what I see.

I think that you are a talented writer with some unique skills and style. Nearly everything I read is Christian material, and I would love to see you write some inspirational material for Christians. I am obviously biased, but I think the most beautiful topics in existence are Christian topics.

Love In Christ,
Tom

His word is enough His grace is sufficient
my faith is shaken but His love isnt
i dont do want I want to and I do what I dont
i say that I will but then usually i wont
contemplate the ifs and interrogate the whys
then backslide with denies alibis and lies
stand firm again and repent without relent
break down and weep for lost time spent
again making similar promises I havent kept
giving him whatever part of me I have left
except the times when its something I need
then my knees believe while I wait to receive
grieve is what he does when I worship self
wealth bad habits and whatever else
that keeps me from understanding Love
with what is what could be sadly what was
does my heart contemplate what was lost
did I even take a moment to measure the cost
I pause in reflection while my mind sits still
realizing the selfishness of my own free will

I suppose it is the smile upon my face
just now the one that tickled as my eyes lit up
butterflies bouncing all over the place
as the love I found over flows my cup

Past present and future all at once
my blessing the perfect setting and time
you came to me awaiting only one response
that peace happiness and joy be mine

Laughing, loving, sharing the same space
you look at me as if you know something I don't
and even my skeptism is suddenly replaced
though they might have left me you won't

Skies once gray are softly painted blue
and trust surrenders into his hands so sweetly
with an embrace meant to join the two
and the whisper gently of you complete me

When it’s your shoes or your style that people hate
It’s ok to ignore cynicism for materialisms sake
I can relate in dealing with laughing and mockery
But part of me questions why they don’t see the heart of me
Because appearance isn’t the problem I struggle with
It’s the self defeating doubt that throws me the hardest hit
I’d quit if it wasn’t the only thing I know I’m doing right
Giving all I can and all I am trying to please Him with my life
It saddens me when I know there’s nothing I could do better
Whether they keep on laughing throwing stones or whatever
It just makes no sense to me that people can hate what is good
Should that be comprehended I would understand it if I could
Angry, bitter, hateful and empty are reason enough for dislike
But love, faithfulness and forgiveness leave no room for spite
If I knew that something inside of me had propensity for change
I would hope that which remains would never stay the same
The blame I’ll leave to the rejection of affection on the inside
Uncertainty tracing the only truth I know where my love abides
Besides grieving for not being received I give this struggle to Jesus
And pray that I can be still until the pain of my own cross ceases

Good Morning PoemOfHis,

Sister, there are several facts in this life that we should understand and accept. Even the best of mankind fails on a regular basis, and that's why we put all of our faith and trust in one who never fails, never disappoints, and always keeps HIS Promises - JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Saviour Forever.

Regardless of our faults and failures, we are still to love each other as CHRIST loves us. We must remember that we also have faults and failures, so this hopefully isn't a measure of whether we are loved or not. JESUS CHRIST loved us when we were still wallowing in the darkness of sin, but HE forgave us through HIS Blood on the CROSS and made us fit to become inheritors with the Saints in LIGHT. This is wonderful for us to think about, especially in connection with our Commands from JESUS to love each other as HE has already loved us. We are to forgive because HE forgave us. How could we deny forgiveness to someone else when we have been forgiven of all by our Precious Lord and Saviour, JESUS CHRIST? These are the Biblical answers that are SO HARD for us to conform to. In fact, they are so hard that we must have the help of GOD to even try.

Sister, the hypocrisy of mankind as Christians and in brick and mortar church buildings hurt and confuse many, but especially the babes in CHRIST and the lost. We must all know that we are at least a portion of the hypocrisy, and there is only ONE who is COMPLETELY TRUE, PERFECT, and HOLY - JESUS CHRIST. This is obviously one of the big reasons why Christians should always be pointing to CHRIST, not a man or themselves. We are fit only in JESUS, and our ONLY righteousness is in JESUS. It's a good and wonderful thing that we are seen IN and THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. Any worth or good that we have is only in JESUS CHRIST! There is NO hypocrisy in JESUS CHRIST, so we MUST keep our eyes on HIM. When we assemble or fellowship together, all of the good and LOVELY is from GOD - and all of the bad and UGLY is from mankind who still fails on a regular basis. All we can do is keep trying and pray that GOD will help us.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Growing up I watched alcohol destroy my mother and father. This is a poem I wrote in regards to it. It's pretty emotional and might be a little "much" to share but I wanted to so here ya go.

You know my weakness what hurts me
deceitfully you provoke and evoke disgust
You take what you know I'll come after
go ahead, tempt me, if you must

Just know I'll never taste you with my lips
what you have is not worth swallowing at all
but somehow I can't resist the hand you play me
you still make me stumble you still make me fall

You're my wound needing to be disinfected
rejection only makes your manipulation churn
Wounded by your hate to forsake me
I can take the pain I can let it burn

Overwhelming satisfaction makes one thirsty
cotton-mouthed with similar sins lust calls
I will take back what you took when you raped me
I will smash the glass of your walls

And when you trickle down my hand spineless
sticky .. I'll grab the cloth and wipe off
alcohol, you took what I loved, but didn't break me
"You lost," soberly I'll whisper soft
