SCOTUS Refuses to Hear Abortion Rights Group Case

On Monday, the US Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from an abortion-rights group case, regarding pro-life specialty license plates. The group was appealing its attempt to block the manufacture of auto license plates that read “Choose Life”.

The high court cited previous cases Keeler v. Stalder, New Life Resources v. American Civil Liberties Union and American Civil Liberties Union v. Bredesen in its decision to allow lower courts rulings to stand. The lower courts’ prior cases were upheld due to the First Amendment free speech clause and the disallowing of “viewpoint discrimination”.
