Question for Christians and atheists both:
Why do you care so much about a little monument?
Christians--taking it away doesn't prevent you from following its teachings.
Atheists--keeping it there doesn't force you to follow its teachings.

I think to characterize this as a "Christians vs. Atheist" thing is very misleading. There are many millions of non-Christians in the US who are not Atheists.
Also, one thing I've not seen mentioned as a possible objection to Moore's monument is that he chose the version used by Protestants, from Exodus 20. Roman Catholics and Lutherans use the version from Deuteronomy. We just can't have the gov't favoring one denomination's views.

Heidi,
The monument in question, is the Ten Commandments Monument that also has quotes from the founding fathers inscribed on it. It has now been moved from the rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court and moved into a closet.
On the other hand there is the goddess Themis in front of the Federal Court Building in Montgomery (paid for with tax dollars).
This god Themis is "constitution", but the God of the Ten Commandments is banned from the public square.
What's wrong with this picture?

This country was founded upon Christianinty, that is a Christian monument and should be left alone! I really hate it when non-Christians complain about Christian things like that and other things, when we don't even say anything about other religions being taught in our public schools!
Also another thing that bugs me, is that you can't pray in public schools and I don't mean loud and disterbing other people; I mean quietly before eating lunch. Yet, other kids from other religions can do stuff like there version of a prayer or stuff like that! WHERE IS THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR CHRISTIANS THERE?

I think it is ridiculous! “Judge” Moore needs to be locked away and never shown the judges seat again. As a judge, it is his job to uphold the Law, not break it! Thumbs up to Attorney General Bill Pryor. The man, a devout Christian, who refused to take his family to Disney land on Gay day, who has been attacked by many to be a Conservative nut, this man did what “Judge” Moore didn’t have the courage to do, HIS JOB! Both these men knew from the first day at Pre-Law that they would have to make discussions they will not like, uphold laws they don’t approve of, and defend men they know are guilty. It is part of the game, both these men knew that coming out of Law School. This man put the 10 commandments in his Courtroom under the cover of darkness. What was he trying to hide? Was it pointless and asinine of the Anti-Christians to want to take the 10 commandments off? Maybe so. Was it wrong of “Judge” Moore to break the same law he has sworn to uphold? Of course it was!

I must agree with you for once Tibby. Well, with most of it...
Krazeek, are you trying to claim that Christians aren't allowed to pray by themselves in schools but non-Christians are? I would like to see you back that one up as it is a ridiculous claim. People try to say that by getting rid of this monument and other similar things the government is trying to suppress the Christians. This is way off base. You can use your freedom of speech in any way you want, on your car, your clothing, your house, your voice of course, whatever. However, the government cannot endorse your religion. That is all it comes down to. The monument is an equivalent of government endorsed religion. That is what is being banned. The religiosity of the US is higher than any country's due to its freedom of religion and seperation of church and state. So the question is where do you draw the line on seperation? A hard issue, but I would have to say complete seperation. The monuments and anything similar must go. If not we may see school prayer sneaking in or the teaching of the theory of evolution being pushed out. A line must be drawn. If you give an inch, they will take a mile.

Well said Tibby, Someguy.
I have never been shown the proof that prayer is banned from school. This is just a rumor that was started and now is believed as fact. In fact, it's very much alive there, and should be, as long as believers attend school. To ban someones right to prayer would definitely be unconstitutional.
The courts only have ruled it to be unconstitutional to force our children to pray, as it should be.

Well, legally, they say praying to school isn’t not banned. It is the Faculty lead/faculty endorsed prayer that is illegal. Students can pray all they want, as long as it doesn’t cause a distraction or in some other way break a rule, it is ok. That is why here in this part of Texas Praying over the football intercom was such a big deal. The Intercom is owned but the school, so there for, the Pray must be faculty indorsed, and there for illegal. lol, now that was a waste of time on the Anti-Christian part. This is Texas, My high School coach told us “I don’t care what they say, men, we are praying!” And unlike “judge” Moore, he was doing his job, the part about keeping moral high among the team so we can WIN. lol, ok, now I’m getting off on a tangent. I’ll stop

I'll give you an example about unfairness to Christians; I'm going to create a new board and prove that to you!
