If time travel is possible, does it defy God's timeline? And if I were to go back a thousand years, will God remain the same?

God controls everything, so he would control time as well.

God placed constraints on us and one of those constraints is time. If it were possible for us to travel through time, yes, God would be the same.

God is the same today, tomorrow and forever. He never changes.

The chief end of man is to glorify God

I understand that time travel actually is theoretically possible, but the energy and cost involved are prohibitive.

It would present any number of problems - such as:  if you went back and killed your grandfather, would you cease to exist? And if you did, then you wouldn't exist to  go back in time to kill your grandfather, so you would still exist!

If Einstein was right that space and time are coexistent, then God created time when he created space - therefore He exists outside of time. Therefore He knows the end from the beginning and he Himself never changes.

The general theory of relativity also states that there is no constant, universal time throughout the universe. Time may be different in another galaxy than here. In fact, it may move at a different rate here today than it did yesterday. As there is no standard to compare it against, there is no way of knowing.

The only thing we do know for sure is the older you get the faster time goes by  Cry

So God is outside our time....
Imagine, if I travel back in time, then I left my timeline to the year 1985 (for example) then It is only I who came back in time not God. But in my timeline in the year 1985, there's somethings that not yet happened. So God will be in two time lines or will He? To be exact, He was watching me in the year 2006, then I traveled back to 1985, will it be the same circumstance or position or stance (sorry I don't have the words) He will be using?

God is in an infinite number of timelines, so He would be watching you in 1985 the same as 2006. He would also be aware of what you did.

Sorry Spectre260, God exists in all things, so even if you went back in time to undo whatever mistake you made, God would know you did it to begin with.  No escaping the view of God (or his love!) You're better off just confessing to him and making amends.   I assure you, all will be forgiven in the eyes of the Lord.

Isn't that easier than inventing time travel, anyway?!

Psalms 34:14 / Matthew 6:5-6

Use proper grammar when spreading the word of God.  The Lord appreciates the care you take. You wouldn't doodle in your bible, would you?  Remember:
He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. (Proverbs 17:2)

Hello Wandering in the Desert,

Here's another WELCOME!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and having fellowship with you.

I like the fact that our all POWERFUL and MAJESTIC GOD is beyond human definition and understanding. It is enough for me to know that HE loves me and I belong to HIM forever.

Thanks be unto GOD for HIS unspeakable GIFT!, JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Saviour forever!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 1:27-28 NASB  Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.
