This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the travelers map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword, and the Christians character. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand object, our good is its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is given you in life and will be opened in the judgement and will be remembered forever.

It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. - Author Unknown We should know the word because someday we will be judged by it. The Bible is not a textbook but a handbook The Bible is a treasure chest, but not many people dig down deep into it to get the real treasures. A well-used Bible that is falling apart usally belongs to a person who isn't. Do you love your Bible or what's in it?

Yes I do love my Bible. I think though you mis-spoke here though. My Bible is falling apart, and I'm getting ready to buy, another. The reason it is falling apart, is because of my reading the Bible, looking of the tiniests bits and pieces.

Nothing mis-spoken there brother. Think about it for a minute and I am sure that you will understand what I mean.

I must be super dense today, cause I don't see what youare talking about brother. To me it looks like, a Bible falling apart, isn't being used to look

The person isn't falling apart, they are solid inside in the word of the Lord.

A person can love their Bible materialistically. Such a person puts the Bible on a shelf and doesn't use it.

A person that loves "what's in the Bible" uses their Bible to the point that it is falling apart.

Good morning or good afternoon!

Brothers, I'm sitting here with my first cup of coffee, and I think that I got it. I think you're both saying the same thing in different ways.  Cheesy

I have several very old Bibles that I treasure and try to protect from further wear. One is over 200 years old, and it's priceless to the entire family. It also contains personal notes, births, weddings, and deaths.

This is the one thing about Computer Bibles that I don't like. They aren't very personal, and they won't be keepsakes. BUT, setting the fonts at any size you want and being able to one-click to any portion of Scripture you want sure is nice. My eyes get so tired that I have problems studying with books now. My computer program has spoiled me with the large fonts and having all of the reference material with it.

Brothers, my dad had a Bible with note pages available in between just about every page of Scripture, and all of the note pages are full. It's a treasure to the whole family. I do have a lot of notes with my computer program, but it's not the same thing as hand written.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Matthew 6:19-21 NASB  "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;  for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

lol .....   Yes brother we were on the same page here. Someone just didn't realise it. It must have been too early for him.   Wink Wink

Yes brother, I have several Bibles that I am the same with. One is the very first Bible that I got for myself at the age of 15. I had to earn it by taking a Bible course. That Bible has all the mariage, birth and dewath dates of my family for the last 8 or 9 generations. It has traveled with me throughout my entire Navy career. It is now put up so that it will not get further wear and tear. I also have an old family Bible that has been handed down for many generations. It too is put up for safe keeping.

I do have several Bible programs on my computer that I use as well as my favorite KJV in very large type that I take where I can't take my computer. I also have numerous different study Bibles that I use very frequently. So there is no shortage of Bibles here and all that can be used are.

Hello Brother Joey,

Grin  I got it. That's the same reason why I don't let blondes with white-out near my computer monitor.

I was just thinking about those old-style, HUGE family Bibles with places for family records. They still make them, but they cost an arm and a leg, and they're not nearly the quality of the older family Bibles. I was also thinking that someone could possibly develop the equivalent of a beautiful family Bible for the computer, and the entire family could share the contents over long distances. BUT, it still wouldn't be the same as holding something old and priceless.

Love in Christ,
Tom

I might be a little late posting on this thread, but I'd just like to add a couple of things. DW if your Bible is falling apart, chances are your life isn't. Even when faced with problems, you always have God's Word in you backing you up, now I don't know about that 2x4 (better run) but there is an answer for all your needs in the Bible. ( I know you already know that).
I have at least 3 Bibles that are falling apart, one of them my Amplified Bible, I had to make a new cover for it useing cardboard, and I had to glue it back together again, Elmers glue didn't work I had to use a hot glue gun, and duct tape. Grin.
The pages are all written on with little notes along the margin, and some are highlighted in so many colors, I forgot what my color coding was cause that page fell apart, BUT I still love my Bible. I'll never give it up or stop useing it.   Grin  Grin
