"................to be ready to every good work,"

Titus 3:1

Christians should be ready to every good work. Not because it will save us as Paul tells Titus what will save in Titus 3:5-7.
Good works are profitable and good unto men. They aid and help in this life, they do not save us to the resurrected life in eternity. Those that believe in God should be careful to maintain good works. Titus 3:8

We overcome evil with good. Romans 12:20-21 Good works place in that part of the world we influence with our lives the good of God and the evil of the devil is overcome in our circle of the world.
The influence of our good may even bring someone to accept God's gift of salvation which He freely gives to anyone, believing the gospel of Jesus Christ, through grace. The preaching of this Gospel is a good work.
This person obeying the gospel then will be ready to every good work and the perpetuation goes on and on.

God is able to make His grace abound in us to have sufficiency in all things to abound to every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 God refers to cheerful giving as a good work, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, in reference to the collection for needy saints.

Good works is an interesting subject. They are what we are led to due in the Spirit with our faith being the catylyst. The things we do in assembly are good works. Feeding, clothing, sheltering would be good works. Sharing our over abundance would be good works.

Good works are fruitful. Colossians 1:10

Good works should be the comliness and  adornment of women, professing Godliness, rather than costly array, elaborate hair styles, or gawdy jewelry. 1 Timothy 2:9-10

God has ordained we should walk in good works. Ephesians 2:10 Also in Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul reveals works do not save, but faith saves and we are God's workmanship created unto good works in Christ Jesus.

It is a good subject for study. Through such we can learn what God would have us to do as the called of God in Christ after believing His gospel.

Amen ollie, good works does not obtain ones salvation but they still do matter.

When speaking of a persons performance in front of others (of which could be considered works) Jesus said,

Mat 6:19  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!"
Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked.

The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.
Acts 10

Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
1 Peter 2:12

For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
1 Peter 2:15

AMEN!

Good works should be the results of a heart brimming over with appreciation for the GIFT of JESUS CHRIST on the Cross and our love toward our Lord and Saviour.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 4:8 NASB  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
