That first hour of "King" was draggy, but then it started moving after it got into the second hour, only to start dragging again with Frodo's climb up the "Mount Doom"volcano. I kept thinking "come on move it". The movie was soooooo sloooooow in spots like this. Many of the FX looked just like what they were, computer generations.

I would rate it as a good "B" flick.

Some of Tolkien's philosophical conclusions were probably buried in the script of trying to be the Mother of all motion
pictures in all aspects.

Some of it was entertaining, some of it laughable.

I missed the songs. To quote Credenda Agenda, "The characters in Tolkein's world would sing, and this is how they would sing."

Great liberties were taken by the movie people. They changed things to please themselves and make the movie a cliched commercial success and that did not always mean considering Tolkeins true fantasy.

Why?

It is just an opinion on a good movie taken from a great book.
It is not the first great literary work that Hollywood has changed to insure it would make money at the box office.

Most movies that stay with the book do not make a lot of money.
Money is the name of the game with movie making. That is why they do it. That is the name of the game with any produced product that is to be presented on the mass market to be sold.

Sorry to have upset you, it is just an opinion. It is just another movie that has probably created a billion different opinions from people..

Trying to derail the train is ok as it seems the train was off track already.
Now we can get back to the topic, "Dag, yo".
