What political party do you align yourself with and why?

I'm no affiliation. I think all the political parties are liars. However, I do vote because it's my right. I guess I vote for the lesser of the evils. I don't think we should use parties. How about most votes wins? It works for me.

Talk about a loaded question. I vote how I think is right. 99% of the time, that is republican. I weight all sides, before I vote. And I vote for the lesser of the evils.

I prefer to recognize leanings – (left, right – liberal, conservative) as an indication of political affiliation.  There are too many liberal republicans and conservative democrats for me to fall in with either party.

I'm fairly sure that I lean toward the right.

I don't vote unless I feel particularly compelled to do so.  I simply pray that God's will be done.  Regardless of whether we vote or not, He will appoint whom He will.  He removeth kings and setting them up.  Why vote anyway when the elections are rigged?  Do you actually think that Bush was going to allow himself to lose?  I'm not here to hate on God's annointed.  My intention is not so.  There is a fine line between honouring the king and speaking the truth and I intend to walk it.  Remember those three young Jewish men in Babylon?  The kingdoms of the world are Satans right now.  Let him have his consolation because the party is almost over.  Jesus is coming... then shall Thy Kingdom come.  Until then, let's just preach the Gospel.

I'm align mostly with the Libertarian veiwpoint. I feel the reason morality is worth anything is because we choose to do, and when you take away that choice, we risk playing God. I vote Republican for the most part because I like most of their policies. Policies that the Texas State party seems to uphold, but the National Party seems to forget about whenever it is convenent.

Sounds like most of you who answered vote Republican, but it also looks like most of you missed the second part of the question, "and why?"

What are the key issues that you use to choose who to vote for?  Economic, Social, International, or some other kind of policies?
Specific issues such as Taxes, Abortion, or War?
Just as simple as what do you think is important and why?

I align myself with Christ, and vote for the man who best fits those guiding principles.  (key words being "best fit" and "man").

The issues vary from candidate to candidate.  Each one places emphasis on certain things making their platform for election.

For me, it all boils down to how those various issues  (whatever they may be) best fit the guiding principles that we scripture living believers adhere to.   Thats the man I'm voting for every time.

Why?  
Because as a believer in Christ, I desire a leader who will guide my country based on biblical truth.   Thats not always an easy choice, even if possible at times, but there you have it.

I usually vote for Larry, Curly or Moe. So far one of them has won every time.

Although I typically vote republican I am finding it difficult to align myself with any particular party.  None of them fit like a glove so I decide which is the closest.  I have found out one thing, based on the last four years, the republicans are not the party of fiscal reponsibility they have claimed to be.

From the liberal side I have heard the argument that they are better christians because they support policies to help those in need.  I contend that if we were truely a country of christians, we would not need the government to tax us and then help the needy...we would do it ourselves.

No one should consider themselves compassionate because they pay taxes.  It doesn't work that way.

I read most of the article you linked in your post... a very impressive and well-taken opinion.

 I was thinking, after I read the article, perhaps God has moved a few to stand in the river as we pass over in safety. I shudder to think how far progressed the filth and godlessness would be, if not for God's use of ones like James Dobson.

America stands out alone among the 3,000 years of failed governments mentioned. We began as a God centered endeavor and though the downward spiral seems out of control now, I’m thankful my children have a little of our former blessings intact. It is true that a preoccupation with politics is a great distraction for many Christians. We must be about our Father's business.

 A simple vote (which is a blessed freedom) and a labor of prayer can be mighty and effective to preserve some peace and sanity. Our hope is wasted if we imagine political activity will do any more than just temporarily stem the inevitable tide of darkness. But, my heartfelt thanks to Dobson and others who seem to be gifted and used of God to accomplish a little.
