What irritates you the most and why? Finally, here's your chance to vent your frustration. We used to get salesmen/women coming to our door to try and get us to sign up for "cheap" natural gas. They offered gas at a set price over a two year term. They were very pushy, and that really aggravates me. They were also dishonest about the terms. In Canada, we get a rebate if gas goes over a certain price, and your income is under a specific base. The fine print (and I'm talking micro type) stated that the gas provider would receive all and any rebates which would be paid to the customer - they never mentioned this. They would ask to see a copy of your last gas bill YA RIGHT! I never buy anything from a door salesman - if I want something, I go out and get it. I always say "not interested" and shut the door before the double talk even begins. My wife is beginning to get the hang of it! These guys came around incessantly! two to four times a month, a different gas provider salesman would come knocking. I warned them many times to quit, but they kept coming. After we moved into our new home, we were relieved to finally be rid of them - then one day the phone rang - yup, it was them! I nearly exploded! I told them not to call again, and guess what? Ya, they called again, and again. The last time they called, I told the guy I was very busy, and asked if he would give me his home number so I could call him there when I was free. He said no, and I said - "Oh, how foolish of me - you probably don't want to be bothered at home!" there was silence for about five seconds before I hung up! Bronzesnake

Advertising, because it can be so manipulative, and the people who are dumb enough to believe it (especially when it's so obviously untrue or warped).

Brothers and Sisters, Thanks, I needed those laughs. I'm making a list. Bronzesnake, I had forgotten about door-to-door sales folks. It sounds like you have a creative answer for telephone sales, but you might need to work on your methods for folks at the door. Maybe you could record some yelling like "Who's at the door?", record the sound of a revving chain-saw with it, and try it. Sister Chris, I've heard about folks who get a rash from wool, but getting a rash from arrogant people is a new one. There are so many arrogant people almost everywhere now that you probably keep a rash continuously. Sapphire, I thought that all advertising was true, and I'm disappointed. Love In Christ, Tom Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding. shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Phone solicitations. I gravely dislike them. So much so that I put myself on the national "DO NOT CALL" list. So now, instead of people trying to sell me things, I get called by people wanting me to take a short survey... I did have one fun call once though. A guy called and wanted to sell me a new roof. I was in a good mood, so I went along with the entire sales pitch. When it came to the payment portion I told him he'd have to call our apartment complex for that one. Strangely, he hung up.

I don't mind the telephone solicitors too much. I used to tell them I am sorry that they could not find a better job. Lately, I have been getting calls from some very very polite people. I do not mind talking to them at all. Maybe they actually enjoy their jobs.
What irritates me? There is a man who sings and plays guitar in the subway station. I just can't stand his voice. It's not that he is really awful but just something in the timbre. I have to walk by with my fingers in my ears. I can't help feeling it is so rude but his singing makes me want to scream "shut up". (He must be from that juicy fruit chewing gum commercial).

Ah, yes...the "short survey" people... Yesterday I got a call from someone who wanted my money...I used to just get letters from these people, but I guess they figured letters are too easy to tear in half and throw away...its hard to rip a telemarketer in half...I tried to get off the phone before they got into their pitch, and they talked faster, so I got this mysterious sickly, urgent tone in my voice (where did that come from?), and they must have thought I was dying of the Flu or having a baby, because they only called twice.

Willowbirch, Yes, we've had the survey and political people. In fact, my wife and I counted almost 40 calls in one week. My wife is a Democrat and I'm a Republican, so we get hit by all of them. We couldn't count the number of $1,000 to $50,000 a plate dinners we've been invited to, but we had to settle for hamburger helper. YES!, we did have hamburger meat, so it wasn't helper helper. We are on the National and State no telephone soliciting lists, but that doesn't apply to politicians or political parties. SO, the politicians took control over our phone several times this year. That's why I voted for politicians as what irritates me. Love In Christ, Tom 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Telephone solicitors because It's my private phone number! They call and interrupt my personal time at home with my family. If I need a home loan, my carpets cleaned, or any number of other things chances are I'll pick up the phone book and call someone who provides the service, I will not sit around the house and hope one calls me! I can not imagine they get much business this way.

Ali Katt, First, I don't think that I've had a chance to welcome you to Christians Unite, SO WELCOME!!! I think that your vote just put telephone solicitors in the lead. :D I think that most people are just like you, but I guess that enough people buy things from telephone solicitors to keep them in business. I buy what I need from local people that I trust, and I call or visit them when I'm ready. Love In Christ, Tom Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

SLOW AND STUPID DRIVERS!!!!! Agreed- I live in Florida, need I say more? The accidents here are insane.....How it never fails to surprise me hearing that a 93 year old man behind the wheel was to blame for some 5 car pile up. Even more irritating (relating to "Stupid" drivers) those who feel the need to be talking on the cell phone, applying make up with one hand & a book in the other.....
