Yeah, showering at the gym is ok if you get in there early enough so that the showers aren't crowded.  There's really nothing to worry about.  Some women shower in their bathing suits and then go get changed in the changing rooms.  If you're fast it shouldn't be a big deal.
2  Theology / General Theology / Re:Life on other planets on: September 12, 2003, 08:41:35 AM
The stars aren't there to support other life.  According to God, they simply declare His glory to man.

This sounds curiously like the summary of someone who lazily felt like skipping a chapter while translating.  Or someone who was writing with no imaginative skills.

How can you “steal” a song? Recording it off the radio, is that stealing? Especially with that new XM radio. What about when you pick up your guitar, and tab out the song from memory? Is that stealing? Music is such an abstract thing, I don’t think we can use words we describe physical object with to classify it. Money, clothing, jewels, these are things we steal. Music can just be grabbed out of the air, it can flow off the top of your head, out of your mouth, or through your fingers! It just isn’t the same.

That's a different way of looking at it too.  You're right - it just isn't really quite the same.  Maybe it becomes wrong if you download songs and sell them for a profit.

I kinda feel like it is stealing, but that if one doesn't protect his stuff, and it gets stolen, he really only has himself to blame.

I feel like the artists deserve money, but the big record companies don't.

It seems they will never prevent people from downloading music, and that people always will.  Music makers, when successful, make more than any hardworking carpenter would ever make.  So maybe its just that artists don't deserve money from the songs they make, but from the performances they provide.  They should have to perform to make their money - go on tours and do concerts.  No more multi-millionare singers.  They can earn regular money just like everyone else who works 40 hour weeks.

Hmm...slippery slope, though.  Movie makers should make money off their movies - but 8.50 a movie is a little ridiculous.  Once movie downloads start becoming big, no one is going to pay $10 to see a movie anymore.  Then we'll be back to the shoddy quality of movies from back in the day with little budgets.  Nah...who knows...just rambling.

If you want to lose 50 lbs of ugly fat, chop of your head Smiley

Hahahaa...my pop used to say that!!

Seriously though - the health kick....
do both of these, and you'll be on your way to better health in no time-
the hard advice: eat more vegtables
the easy advice: walk with a friend or family member for 1 hour 5 days a week.  It's good for the heart, the muscles, and your outlook on life.

The best advice is to keep things in perspective.  You might not follow a diet or a workout to the T, but any steps, regardless how small, are still progress in the right direction.

One of my favs:
Kenny Loggins
Danny's Song

People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one, and we've just begun,
Think I'm gonna have a son.
He will be like she and me, as free as a dove, conceived in love,
Sun is gonna shine above.

Chorus:
And even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with ya honey,
And everything will bring a chain of love.
And in the morning when I rise, you bring a tear of joy to my eyes,
And tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Seems as though a month ago I beta chi, never got high,
Oh, I was a sorry guy.
And now a smile, a face, a girl that shares my name,
Now I'm through with the game, this boy will never be the same.

(To chorus:)
Pisces, Virgo rising is a very good sign, strong and kind,
And the little boy is mine.
Now I see a family where there once was none, now we've just begun,
Yeah, we're gonna fly to the sun.

(To chorus:)

Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup, drink it up,
Love her and she'll bring you luck.
And if you find she helps your mind, buddy, take her home,
Don't you live alone, try to earn what lovers own.

(To chorus:)

Atheist, if you don't mind, would you tell me about the process you went through and how much did it cost?  Your feedback is appreciated.

My parents know the details.  I will find out the exact numbers for you if I can.
10  Entertainment / Books / Jean M Auel on: August 29, 2003, 01:31:56 PM
Jean M Auel.  Her whole series is GREAT.  The fifth book just came out - Shelters of Stone.  Its just as good as the rest.

The other books in the series are:
Clan of the Cave Bear
Vally of the Horses
The Mammoth Hunters
Plains of Passage
and then Shelters of Stone

There is one more in the 6-book series that isn't out yet.  The whole epic is wonderful and adventurous.

Steelers.  Pittsburgh Steelers all the way.

No wonder you're messed up theologically!  Grin  Of course I can't talk much being a Bears fan...

You guys got a great quarterback in Kordell.  Don't get me wrong, he's a little rough around the edges, but if your fans love him, he'll love you back.  I'm sad to see him go, but he was struggling and steelers fans aren't very forgiving.  Be forgiving, he'll do fine.

Our family adopted a little boy from India, I guess about 9 years ago, now.  Sham(now Shawn) was 6 when he came to America, he is 15 now.  In the beginning, he had quite a tough time with subjects that required English and grammar, but we worked with him as much as possible.  He still has a bit of trouble with reading comprehension, but he just got accepted to the automobile mechanics training program at the county vocational school.  We are glad he was able to fit into our family so easily.  There were some challenges, but overall, he's in a great place.

We went through Holt International for the adoption.

I bought it last week.  It really is very well-coreographed.  The dancers are amazing.  It's almost like they are computer generated.

I wasn't aware that Renee Z and Catherine ZJ sang and danced.  They were phenomenal.

It's a must-see.

Not that I expect any of you to agree. Grin
