2  Prayer / General Discussion / How to be led by the Spirit of God? on: May 17, 2007, 09:58:29 AM
I've been a Christian for a long time but there is still things that I do not understand about being led by the Spirit of God. I knew the Holy Spirit came to me and filled me because I spoke in different tongues but I do not understand it. I don't understand anything about this Spirit filled stuff. I've been back sliding and going back but I am tired of it. I wanna be led by the Spirit! Please help me understand what is being led by Spirit means and how can I be led by the Spirit.
3  Entertainment / Books / Re: what's your favorte quote from a book you read? Share it with us! on: April 24, 2007, 05:19:16 AM
great quotes guys. I chose this quote from the little prince because it really fascinates me and there are times it is true. It is quite fascinating that children can understand things more than adults in some.....weird way. It can also apply to conspiracies of the school teacher who wants to punish a child but can't do so because it is the own teacher's fault not being responsible for a child's homework.

Yes, I am kinda upset because I'm hoping that some people will post quotes from fictional books that doesn't have any meaning but sounds gibberish yet fascinating.

4  Entertainment / Books / what's your favorte quote from a book you read? Share it with us! on: April 22, 2007, 12:23:20 PM
mine is this:

Les grandes personnes ne comprennent jamais rien toutes seules, et c'est fatigant, pour les enfants, de toujours leur donner des explications.

Which in English is: Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always explaining things to them.

oh by the way that's in German. This quote came from the book "The Little Prince"

I'm looking forward to knowing your favorite quotes~
5  Fellowship / For Men Only / Re: can i be gothic and christian at the same time? on: April 19, 2007, 04:12:46 AM
Hi father ira,

Coming from a similar background years ago....not goth, but heavy rock, I can relate to the being attracted to dark thing in a way.  I also recall a type of depression that had a certain self indulging enjoyment to it if you will (as odd as that sounds).   Not like the typical depression most people relate to.   At least I think this is what you are talking about.

I'm not sure I can provide you better answers than you've already received from PR and Brother Jerry though.   Those are great replies to your questions.   If you are feeding on the word of God (reading scripture daily) I am sure you will start viewing all this differently, even if it takes a while.

It might sound like a real typical answer to hear that, but there really is something about that book.   When you bury yourself into its pages, your thoughts, your attitudes, lifestyle, EVERYTHING, begins to change.   Not that God wants to change you into some bible thumping person wearing white all the time...lol, but there is an inward change that happens in the mind and spirit, that transform believers into the likeness of Christ.

You said that you were saved.....Are you reading scripture daily, and do you attend some sort of fellowship with other believers?

Blessings

Thanks to this reply. To be honest, I don't read the scriptures daily. I used to read alot and have devotion alot but for some reason...my fire faded. My poem notebook kinda become my bible. If you want to know why, just pm me. I don't want to show  my inner self just yet.  And yes, I attend fellowship with other believers but i'm not happy being with them....and again pm me if you want to know. i need someone who i can open to.

~cheers

AHEM BRO!

Also are you save yet?

I know I am.

Now I am sure that the phrase Goth has changed some since my days of youth (When Goth was started), but I do not think the underlying theme was too different.   Now one thing to recognize is that Goth is a social group.  People are Goths not because they are depressed, angry at the world or anything else.

One thing about being a goth is realizing your mortality and this is what i believe about being a goth. I don't hang out with social groups and I don't try to fit in.. I like being alone and there are times I don't want to be alone. Its just no one understands me. Not that I enjoy the dark sides of life, I also enjoy how foolish people are. Even me.

As for music, I Serve God through His music, win souls through Godly music, Exalt His majesty, proclaim His love, share God's music and impact the nations.

I've been hiding this and I don't think its obvious, I have a crush on darkness Cheesy. I don't know why. It just feels good when being alone in the dark..thinking things, expecting the unknown (if you know what I mean).

I didn't know why I said I was depressed. Maybe its just in my mind. Well thanks for answering folks. Its almost 12am in the morning here and I think i'm gonna stay up for a while. God bless

can i be Gothic and Christian at the same time?

I'm Gothic because i am depressed and that's the only way i know how to express myself. I am Christian because I love Jesus, I believe he's God and I believe I am his child.
9  Fellowship / Witnessing / Share your witnessing methods! on: March 26, 2007, 08:38:41 PM
Everyone share your different witnessing methods so that others who doesn't know about witnessing will have an idea on how it goes. Here's mine:

1.) I approach my "prospect" and try to introduce myself (don't mention anything about God first or don't give a hint ). Get to know him. Know where he lives, his hobbies, his likes, dislikes. Be friends!

2.) Ask him if goes to church. Know his church background.

3.)If he says he's a Christian then he's easy to talk to but then, we have to assure his salvation. So I ask him two questions:
a.) If we are going to die today, are you sure you are going to heaven? (I have to say "we" because I don't want him to feel uncomfortable) ~if his answer is yes, proceed to the next question, if no still proceed  Cheesy

b.) If we did actually die and we arrive in heaven but God asks us "Why should I let you in my heaven?" what would you say? (He is most likely to answer "Because I go to church" or "I'm a good boy")

4.) Then I say "There is a good news. Heaven is free. You don't have to pay for it because Jesus has already paid for your sins. As Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death". He was crucified  on the cross.   He gave the ultimate sacrifice. Hebrews 9:22 says "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin." ~improvise from here because he will be likely to ask questions

5.) Then ask him again: "Now , I we are going to die, are you sure you are going to heaven?" "(If he is not sure, review him  the last part again) "Do you want to accept God's forgiveness for you sins?" (If he answers yes then pray for him and let him follow you in the prayer of salvation:

Dear Lord,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Amen

6.) Within 24 hours, call him. Then at 72 hours visit him in his home. We don't want to lose a lost soul. Bring him to church, be good friends with him, pray for him, pray with him, and most importantly: grow stronger in Christ with him

10  Welcome / About You! / Re: hi i'm ira on: March 22, 2007, 08:27:56 PM
Now to the father thing. I realize that it is a custom in your area to call someone father out of respect or at least it used to be in the older customs of that area.
Its more of an insult actually.... not all the people in my place are Christians...even at the Christian school I go to

Why the word "father" in your new user name?

Well because my classmates are calling me Father since I our camp cuz I spoke in tounges and I use alot of bible verses when telling them advices and stuff.

Well i'm glad you guys remembered me. I couldn't get advices from our church because all I get is criticism. They tell me advices that are not based on the bible. They always meddle with my personal affairs and they think they really know me but they don't. They don't understand how I feel and I only get annoyed with them.

I've been praying alot these times and reading the Bible over and over again, especially Revelations. Bad thing is, I don't feel God when I'm praying. I only feel Him when I worship. I know that you guys cannot help me with my affairs with God but I will always seek his face.

I'm not too comfortable with the church I'm attending but I don't want to leave my friends and the opportunities of serving others. I know God needs me in that church as a musician. I'm frustrated though.
13  Welcome / About You! / hi i'm ira on: March 21, 2007, 05:14:09 AM
Hi i'm Ira. I'm turning 15 this May 23rd. I'm a frustrated Christian musician. I might repeat in high school because i have extremely low grades. Teachers say I'm really smart and can get into top 1. Its just i don't do any effort, in fact I believe i'm lazy. I was thinking of suicide since i heard i might repeat high school but afraid to do so because i know that i'll go to hell. I've been a Christian for a year now. I've been filled by the Holy Spirit. I've received evangelism training, leadership training, but I've turned back to my old ways because i was frustrated with my leaders. Now i'm seeking to go back and live a Holy Spirit filled life.
