1  Entertainment / Television / Re: DirecTV Songs of Praise concert series on: December 14, 2006, 04:23:28 PM
I've heard from a few of my friends who have DirecTV that they have seen this program. I think it is long overdue for holiday programming to have something the family can enjoy together annually through the gift of music. We want the family to tape it for us and we may even have a fun time singing along to the Christmas carols. I am looking forward to it.
2  Entertainment / Movies / Re: Just Watched Steven Spielberg's Munich on: December 12, 2006, 03:26:54 PM
Yes, this movie, just like many of Spielberg's will toughen someone up to the harsh realities of war between mankind that will always be here, either in mind or in physical reality.
3  Entertainment / Movies / Re: Judge's decision kills family-friendly flicks on: December 12, 2006, 03:22:18 PM
See, it's this quote that's what gets me:

"While we thought very strongly about appealing the decision, the potential costs and risks to the company, its customers and shareholders was just too great..."

Who is more important? The company shareholders or the consumers? Is there any company nowadays who has the consumers' best interests at heart? Sad state of affairs that we have to live in.
4  Entertainment / Music / Amy Grant one of your fav. Christian artists or not? on: December 01, 2006, 02:04:47 PM
Hey everyone,

Is Amy Grant one of your favorite Christian artists? If not, why not and if so, why so?

I just want to apologize. I just wanted to introduce myself here and let you know a little about my daughters is all. Please don't ban me.
6  Welcome / About You! / Re: Newbie from Cali on: November 28, 2006, 10:18:10 AM
LJMom,

I doubt that you're going to like it here because we do tell the truth. The Holy Bible is GOD'S WORD and quoting Scripture is from the LORD. Any religion that denies the Holy Trinity as one ALMIGHTY GOD or makes other gods (little "g") is false and garbage.

Mormon is a false religion devised and constructed by man, much like Buddhist and Hindu. A Mormon denies the deity of JESUS CHRIST. A Buddhist or Hindu denies JESUS CHRIST completely. The difference with Christianity involves where one spends eternity, and all real Christians care about that for their children.

I only have one question for you. Did you actually think you would find approval for Eastern religions from Christians? If so, you probably need to read our forum rules again. In fact, that would probably be a good idea anyway. That would remove any shock you might have about where you are, a Christian forum.
Of course, I know this is a Christian forum. I know that I wouldn't find approval of Eastern religions from Christians and perhaps a lot of intolerance of these from many Christians. I guess that we are all just going to have to have a difference of opinion. It scares me sometimes to hear what fundamentalists say and to find out how religious wars get started.
I appreciate your responses, though. And you don't know whether I am going to like it here or not, so don't say that, please.
7  Welcome / About You! / Re: Newbie from Cali on: November 28, 2006, 12:52:52 AM
Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Hi LJMom,

Being open minded is one thing but teaching what is true is even more important. We are taught throughout the Bible that it is a parents responsibility to insure that our children are brought up in the ways of the Lord. As parents if we fail to teach them properly in God's word it is us that will be held responsible not just them.

Please check out the following thread:

http://forums.christiansunite.com/index.php?topic=14457.0

There is also a lot more Biblical information that you can find on this subject in the "Parenting" section.

Wow, I did not come here to this forum with the expectation to argue with anyone or to have someone knock me. Also, I am of Faith in our Lord and that is my own individual choice, just as it will be both of my daughters' own individual choices of faith or even lack thereof. Quoting scripture from the Bible as if it is straight from our Lord's mouth isn't the way I will teach them. Being open-minded also means accepting the fact that "truth" can and will be different for everyone, mileage may vary. I know my path was very unconventional in leading me to the Christian faith, but after investigation into other religions, which aren't actually religions but "ways of thought" and simple ways to live, I had a broader sense of the world and it reaffirmed my original beliefs even stronger in God. Are Mormons considered "garbage" to you because of non-monagamous practices?
Hello LJMom,

I hope and pray that you don't teach your children false religions. They just might accept the false religion and reject the only TRUTH that leads to Salvation. The only thing they need to know about Eastern religions is they are FALSE. Your children need to be grounded in the LORD, and efforts should be made to help them grow strong and mature in the LORD before they are exposed to the garbage details of false religions. This is one of the main reasons why many parents are starting to homeschool.

Love In Christ,
Tom

John 17:24 NASB  "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Hi LJMom,

I think I welcomed you in another thread but just in case I didn't ...  Welcome to Christians Unite.

I hope to see some more posts from you.

You said that you believe your girls should be exposed to different philosophical perspectives. In that do you mean other than Christianity?

Maybe, somewhat I will talk to them about some Eastern philosophies and religions. I know that they are going to want to learn about them anyways, and I have always been sorta an open-minded person. I know there are advantages and drawbacks to the Buddhist and Hindu philosophies, but being truly selfless and still being held morally responsible for yourself, I think are very important concepts that these spiritual ways teach. I am a born again Christian and will homeschool my daughters through their first five or six years of schooling. Faith plays a huge role in my life and they know that as well. I get them involved with our church regularly, teach them about meditation, and what it is like to pray for others instead of just for themselves.

 Cheesy
Hello everyone, I figured I would take the time to introduce myself. I am a stay-at-home mother to two beautiful girls named Taylor and Madeline. They are a handful, let me tell you, and are both interested in the arts (singing/acting/maybe modeling). I try and have personal belief that they should both be exposed to many different philosophical perspectives/two different sides to issues in order for them to have their own opinions. I have also been happily married for 4 years to a man named Miles. Anyways, I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday and I am looking forward to being around these boards more often! Thank you, take care.

I'm thinking about taking my twin girls (age 12) to see it to start our Christmas season in the right frame of mind.
