Troy, any place is right with news like that! Praise God for His blessings of a growing congregation. As long as your pastor preaches the Word, your church will likely grow quickly. The world is starving for God's Word and they will go where they're fed.

We are broadcast live on one cable company and rebroadcast on tape on 3 others throughout the week. I work in the production booth as a producer and video switcher. I also set up all video production schedules.
Many requests come in for copies on DVD of our services for personal use as well as sending to family and friends. We also send, free of charge, to military service members deployed anywhere in the world.
Our DVDs are played at 5 satellite churches as well. And I have the distinct honor and pleasure of hearing the same sermon 3 times per week every week from a pastor who unabashedly preaches God's Holy Word with a fire only the Holy Spirit can provide. I get my "toes stepped on" each week but with great joy at the spiritual feast I receive.
Additionally, I am a Club Director for 3rd and 4th grade boys in our AWANA program. There is tremendous joy in teaching these future Christian leaders God's precious Word, watching them memorize huge sections of Scripture, burying them in their hearts. Oh, my God, I do love it!

Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: What do YOU look for in a church?

To me, a church should be evangelical...soul winning; discipling...growing those souls in the Spirit; expositing...preaching and teaching from the Word, allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture; boldness in Christ...without a spirit of timidity; no racial barriers...ALL are welcome; and (this may stir up some dust) male only leadership per God's Word.

Theology / Bible Study / Re: What is your favorite book of the Bible and why?
|

For me, Romans. And particularly chapter 8. It seems so very complete in God's desire, purpose and hope for my life.
I guess my next favorite would be the Gospel of John. It seems to be a more personal account of Jesus' life...sort of a bio on Johns' "best buddy". It's more intimate than the others and that's the kind of relationship our King desires of us...very intimate.

Theology / General Theology / Re: Was Jesus Forsaken?

For some, it is difficult to believe Jesus is God the Son, second Person of the Trinity. The Triune God, including God the Father, God the Son...Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. Such incredible glory is that truth. Now Paul said in Romans that the glory of God can be seen in His creation. Take the room in which you are reading this post. It is only one room made up of 3 dimensions...height, width, and depth (or length, if you prefer). One room...3 dimensions. Take away one of those 3 dimensions and what happens to the room? It is no longer. Each of the dimensions is essential to the others. Consider the 3 dimensions of time...future, present, and past. (Yes, I listed them in "reverse" order to conventional wisdom...time actually flows from the future, through the present, and into the past. ) One time line...3 dimensions. But remove one of those 3 dimensions, and time no longer is. Again, each dimension is essential. So you see, God's glory can be seen in time and space...2 of His creations. Jesus claimed to be God. The Jews of His time on earth recognized this fact. It is the reason they wanted to stone Him. He forgave sin. Only God can do that. So if Jesus claimed to be God but was not, that would make Him a liar, and hence a sinner, and not worthy to be a sacrifice for any but himself. So if Jesus claimed to be God but never sinned (to include lying), He has to be God. Oh, the incredible beauty of truth as it is found in His holy Word! There is none like anywhere else! To Jesus Christ be all glory, honor, and praise.

He's bigger than my sin. He's bigger than my enemies. He's bigger than my problems. He's bigger than my worries.
How big is God?
Bigger.

Do I believe in miracles? Boy howdy!
I was destined for hellfire and damnation but God Father sent God the Son to take my place on the cross. He defeated death, hell, and the grave. I am now FREE! THAT, my friend, is a miracle!
And there have indeed been many more miracles. Actually, too numerous to count.
Yep. It's a no-brainer. I believe in miracles.

Yup. See Ephesians 2, particularly verses 8,9. All the tithing and offering in the world will not get one soul one more millimeter closer to God's glory.
Jesus said, "I am THE way, THE truth, THE life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." He didn't mention tithing anywhere in that.

I dunno, guys. Think about it. God the Father cannot look upon sin and still be God. Neither can He be the Father of sin. And the burden of that sin had to be borne by Jesus alone. I believe He was indeed forsaken.
The Old Testament was a foretelling of Jesus' words and not the other way around. Remember that the gambling for His clothes is in the Old Testament. I doubt seriously that they gambled for His clothes to meet prophecy. Rather, prophecy was written that there would be no mistake as to the authenticity of Christ.

Thanks. Looks like a great site.
I belong to a non-denom church, about 1600 strong and growing rapidly. Our pastor is an evangelical expositor of the finest kind and preaches the Word of God without reserve, retreat, or regret. We are very blessed to have someone leading us who has the fire of the Spirit.
I am located in Beaufort County, SC. Been here since '93.
