2  Fellowship / For Men Only / Re:Give Advice Here on: May 04, 2005, 10:36:11 AM
Chicklittle,

I don't post much here because I don't have a lot of time to spend in fellowship here.

You may want to read Dr. Laura's new book, The Care and Feeding of Men.  From what I've heard about the book she wrote it to explain to women:
how men are different from women
and
how how to use the knowledge of those differences to better "care and feed" your man.

Take care.

3  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:what's wrong with voting Kerry? on: October 23, 2004, 04:02:38 PM
.............
I think that Kerry-Edwards would make better leaders for the nation.
..............
Anyway, what do you think?

Kerrys meeting with the North Vietnamese Leaders prior to the end of the war made him - to me - a traitor.
A traitor is not the kind of leader I would follow.
4  Theology / Debate / Re:War in Iraq is Putting USA at Greater Risk on: October 23, 2004, 03:59:18 PM

My Opinion

Teddy Roosevelt had the correct idea.  Walk softly but carry a big stick.  He had been known to use the big stick.  We need to follow his lead a bit stonger than we have.

Maybe like taking one of the hot spot cities (Fallujah (sp??)) and starting at the top right and work down to the bottom left and when done, NOT LEAVE ONE BLACKENED STONE STANDING ON ANOTHER.

5  Theology / Debate / Re:Over 13,000 Civilians Killed in Iraq on: October 23, 2004, 03:53:16 PM
i wonder what would have happened if the Atom Bomb didn't exist?

A tremendously HUGE number of Japanese (Soldiers, civilians, women, and children) would have been killed.

WWII estimates, based on casualty rates derived from invasions on Japanese held islands, put US casualties at 1,000,000 plus.

MY OPINION -
1.  We are involved in the the same WAR that has been going on since before the Crusades - Muslim versus anyone else who isn't.

2.  Concerning the casualty figures that started this thread -  Better their civilians than ours.

6  Theology / Debate / Re:Women in the Military - A Christian POV on: October 13, 2004, 06:00:35 PM
Currently, women are not allowed to serve in (or command) units designated as “combat arms,” – infantry, artillery, Anglico, Para-rescue, LRS/Rangers, and all the Special Operations units.  Is this fair?

What is Anglico?

Insofar as  LRS, Rangers, Para-rescue, and all the Special Ops units are concerned - the average man isn't allowed to serve either.  It takes above average mental and physical ability to do that type of work.

Is this fair?
MY OPINION - Fairness has nothing to do with it.
Having seen what that type of service can do to people - it is not something I want a Woman to experience.
I do not believe we should put women in positions where they can wind up in a body bag labeled: unidentified female - body parts missing.

7  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:who else is 20? on: October 13, 2004, 05:29:08 PM
Remember, age brings wisdom.

Most of the time.

You have to make sure that at 50 you've acquired 50 years of wisdom, not 1 years wisdom 50 times.

I know - for sure I don't have 52 years worth of wisdom.
8  Prayer / General Discussion / Footprints in the Sand. on: September 29, 2004, 09:33:42 PM
Most everyone knows the footprints in the sand story.

All I can say about that is I'm glad He's strong.

Because I know there are times that I'm heavy.

9  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Favorite Recipes on: July 16, 2004, 11:15:33 AM
This recipe is one where you add/subtract the number of ingredients - as you decide.

It's also the type of recipe you learn to cook - after you do it a couple of times you "figger out" what works and tastes best for you.

Need:
small onion
3-6 slices bacon - add/delete to your taste
a couple of ripe tomatoes
a couple cans of Blackeyed Peas

Prep:
Drain both cans of Blackeyed Peas
Slice the bacon into small slices
Dice the onion
Cut the tomatoes into small chunks.

Cooking:
Start browning the bacon,
When it's about 3/4 done add the onions
When the onions reach the pearl color add the tomatoes
When the tomatoes just reach the "moosh" stage add the Blackeyed Peas.
Cook to boiling.

Serve:
Salt and pepper to taste.
10  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Copyright Ethics on: July 15, 2004, 03:40:40 PM
Out of all of the email discussions, two sentences jumped out at me.

No one can claim theft in the case of copied material - mainly because one cannot prove the sale would ever have occured to begin with.

No, it's not stealing or theft in legal sense, but in the moral sense, is it right or wrong?

Copyright laws were written to protect the authors and whatever publishers interest.  I believe you'll find that making a copy of a copyrighted item is legally defined by most states as some sort of theft.

My opinion:
The material is the fruits of someone's labor.
That person is entitled to compensation.
Copying rather than buying another copy - to me - is stealing/theft.

11  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:History Channel - Sodom & Gomorrah on: July 15, 2004, 12:08:29 PM
Allinall,

WolfBrother came about as a mountan man, buckskinner, re-enactor type of handle.

I discussed the History Channel program with a Messanic Rabbi friend of mine.  He somewhat agreed with the HC people saying which sins made Sodom & Gomorrah so evil were not listed.

We discussed the request at the door.  He said - according to his understanding Jewish law & custom at the time - the crowds demand to produce the visitors << never mind why the wanted them >> was a violation of Jewish religious law.  If I were to translate the law violation to a sin - the sin would be one of exercising improper use power/control.  Like having to sleep with the boss or lose a job.  Rabbi Mike put it in West Texas Oil Field trash concepts.  Like an oilman not paying his workers a higher wage - when he could.

He agreed the reason the crowd wanted the vistors was listed in other areas as an abomination.  But he said that in the society of the time - the attempt to exercise improper power/control over the visitors was actually more significant.
Kind like Clintons "Because I could" statement.

12  Fellowship / You name it!! / History Channel - Sodom & Gomorrah on: July 14, 2004, 03:58:45 PM

A History Channel series about the Bible stated that the sins that made Sodom & Gomorrah evil were not clearly stated.

I found two verses
KJV
Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

NLT Genesis 18,20 So the LORD told Abraham, "I have heard that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah are extremely evil, and that everything they do is wicked.

These verses imply sins (plural) but do not specify.

Any amplification? clarification?
13  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Awesome Scripture on: July 12, 2004, 03:03:39 PM
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Matthew 7:3

This one has stuck with me for years.
14  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Falling out on: July 07, 2004, 03:01:24 PM
OK, somethings weird here.

Moderators do not ban people arbitrarily.  It generally takes someone flagrantly not following rules to get banned.

If I was running an anime forum and had someone using it to email females about dating advice, I'd worry - especially if it was a Christian forum.  The fact that you were using the forum for a purpose NOT intended could (and generally is) reason to ban.

No answer? Sometimes it takes years before the answer is revealed - and even then it can be one you don't want.

So - as before - find an assembly of Christians, worship with them, fellowship with them.  Let things happen as they should, when they should.
15  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:Falling out on: July 07, 2004, 10:25:43 AM
but I just send them AIM messages

OK, how many do you send?

What is the content of the messages you send?

Do the recipients respond back?

Do they ask you to stop contacting them?

Do you send them message after message after they stop responding back?

Seems every time I pray God isn't listening.
God always listens.  God always answers prayers.  A lot of times the answer is not the one you want.
