1  Theology / Debate / Re: thou shalt not kill on: October 18, 2007, 07:28:00 AM
I was asked what would I do if someone I cared about was attacked ?  The only way I know how to respond to that question is to ask how would Jesus react or how did the disciples and apostles react in scripture.
Violence, bitterness, and anger were all a part of my past to the point where anger was an addiction, and I did end up in prison for a long term for it.( I deserved it )
And now for me to react with any anger in any situation is something I can not do, I will not fall back into my old ways and a person can live an anger free life through Christ, as impossible as this seems. Things that are impossible with men are possible with God !! Amen!!
2  Theology / Debate / Re: thou shalt not kill on: October 17, 2007, 07:37:21 PM
I did read the thread. And no my scriptures were not taken out of context. I gave a quick response to a quick question to which we could do a very lengthy study on. Of which multiple scriptures show under the New Covenent we are to Love our enemies. And that Love is God and the foundation of our faith. A faith which worketh by Love. An unconditional Love I found is the only way to heal, no matter what the situation. I speak from experience. Love does not kill in any situation.
3  Theology / Debate / Re: thou shalt not kill on: October 15, 2007, 08:08:05 PM
I believe there is no justification for any killing. Christ taught us to turn the other cheek and even by His own example of how He lived without reviling or fighting back in any instant. 1 Peter 2:18-25 is an excellent scripture for this. Luke 3:14  "And the soldiers likewise, demanded of him saying, and what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages"

As Christians we are to be Christ-like, and in no instant under any circumstances did Christ allow killing.
4  Theology / Debate / Re: Which day do you think is the sabbath and why? on: October 05, 2007, 09:23:47 PM
The Sabbath is not a day but a promised rest to look forward to for those who accept Christ. And understanding that the O.T. is a shadow of the N.T. as quoted in Hebrews. Having said this, there even is scripture which condones Sunday worship. If you study the duty of the priest they continually sacrificed non-stop daily, all week. This is why Jesus, when questioned about the Sabbath by the Pharisees answered them saying "Have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priest in the temple profane the sabbath and are BLAMELESS?" The priest did not rest on the Sabbath but continually made sacrifices for the people. I see this as worshipping because it is being done out of obedience by the people and the priest. And if Christ claimed they were blameless, what about us who are now made priests and kings to God, by the shedding of His blood. REMEMBER GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS.

Also I am curious, why only push the 4th commandment, when I am pretty sure that the 10th commandment is "broken" even more then the 4th.( I speak to those who keep themselves UNDER the law) James 2:10-11
5  Theology / Debate / Re: Why does the devil hate tongues? on: September 28, 2007, 12:02:09 AM
I do not believe the devil hates tongues or any other gift but rather he impersonates gifts. To expound on my meaning .... I knew a man who had a rough life he was very  bitter, angry and hateful toward everyone. I has never meet someone this angry at the world before. I tried to be a friend to him and discuss the gospel, I was shock to find out he claimed to be a Christian and a church goer. I went to a few services with him and at ever service this man would speak in tongues, every service. And with out fail as we left church he would find someone or something to get angry about. He never stopped letting anger and bitterness of his past rule his life and yet to this day he still speaks in tongues. He also left the church because they would not let him be a part of the band there.
This man, I believe, God use to expound 1 Corinthians 13 to me... Its not the gift that is anything but have we got the love of Christ in our hearts for others, even our enemies.
If any has been to a pow-wow or any native American ceremony they also can speak in tongues. Remember Rev.13:13-14 He can do great wonders to deceive those that dwell on the earth. Yes Satan can and does impersonate gifts and only love is the only thing he cannot impersonate he can try to pervert it, but that is for another study. God bless and with love brother Jim.
6  Theology / Debate / Re: the sabbath ( what day saterday or sunday) on: September 27, 2007, 03:27:35 PM
I too truly believe my rest is in Christ. For Jesus Himself told how it is written in the law that the priest PROFANED the Sabbath and are blameless. To study the OT is to know the priest WORKED ALL SEVEN DAYS doing sacrifice for themselves and the people, they never recognized a day of rest. From this scripture we know the priest themselves did not keep all the commandments. That is why the commandments were given to show us how helpless we are without a Savior and Redeemer, to show we can't keep them, to show us how much we need Christ in our lives..
As for those who claim they need to keep the whole law try to do it through their own righteousness and works, and they fail everytime. They deny Christ by laying claim that we need to keep the Law. Matt 9:12" They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick" This is why He is the Great Physician, all are sick NONE can keep all the law.
Oh I just get all worked up when I think of all He has done for me PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME he saved me from being under a law I can't keep, none of us ever where expected to keep.
And REV 1:6 .."and has made US kings and priests" speaking of what Christ has done for us. 1 Peter 2:5 Ye are, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."
If the priest in the OT profaned the Sabbath and are blameless, then I believe we, as priest who continually offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ( our Sabbath) then how could we also not be held blameless Huh

Hebrews 9:1-28
7  Theology / Debate / Re: Should Christians celebrate holidays when most orginated from the Babylonian's on: September 26, 2007, 03:38:16 PM
I myself have read Hislops "The Two Babylons" and found it extremely interesting reading as to the origin of todays celebrated holidays, and yet do we cancel out celebrating the birth of Christ because it was combined with the birth of the "Sun god", and moved to December 25?( Now this is my own personal thoughts) I feel its fine to celebrate holidays, just let your children know the true meaning of what your celebrating. For Christmas let them know it is about Christ and that there is no such thing as a "Sant Claus". For Easter let them know it is about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and not about some rediculous rabbit who supposedly goes aroud hiding eggs. Take the paganism out of the holiday and give out the true meaning of why we are celebrating whatever day it is. Lets just get back to the truth.
8  Welcome / About You! / Hello on: September 26, 2007, 03:18:25 PM
I seek biblical studies with those who believe the bible truely is the Word of God, not to debate whether or not the bible is true.
