1  Theology / General Theology / Re: Confused yet again on: March 12, 2006, 03:37:31 PM
Thank you my friends. I feel that you truley are dedicated to educating me in the ways of Christ and for this thank you. (Maybe we should rename this post 'educating the tundra') I will go back and read all of these posts in a lot more time and analyse them more. But to ask for clarification on a point. It is lent now and i have stopped fasting myself. Is this good or bad or uneccsary. This may sound weird but by not fasting in front of G when i believe i should, i feel that i have commited a heinous crime because i made such a big thing of fasting for christ in my head and now i've broken it. Any more comments.
(And seriously thank you for all of this, through you guys, my Bible and some christian courses im going on i will become a better worshipper)

Ephesians 2:8-10 NASB  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Hello. (I think every time i post i'm going to say i'm new to Christianity so you can't attack my ignorance lol) Does the above passage mean that we can do anything that we would like on this earth because christ has prepared the way already. I mean it's lent now and i've been fasting daily from sunrise to sundown until i began to get dizzy and stopped cos of me collapsing being bad for me obviously. I know fasting doesn't make me a 'better christian' but i felt it got me closer to G. Therefore can we go out and murder and rape (not that i want to you understand) as long as we except Christ as our savior? I just converted and i before i always tried to live a good life because i wanted to help my fellow humans however now it seems i don't need to live a good life (though i still want to, don't worry about that Wink) so can anyone help me?

Hmm...
Interesting post there. Me personally (a new guy to Jesus) i don't believe in the literal word of the Bible. I think some bits are stories because we are too stupid to understand. If G started talking about quarks, protons, gamma rays, evolution etc we wouldn't fully have understood and thats why it's not in the Bible, because earlier people weren't ready for it. I was brought up as a christian hater. In my houshold Christianity (and other religions) were mocked as superstitious nonsense that was just one way of controlling people. I'm now 18. I have found the way. I believe without having been indoctrinated by my family. I personally will not be indoctrinating my children (if i have any which is another, long story) but when they are old enough to understand, i will teach them my beliefs and encourage them, but not force them. Didn't Christ himself say (no idea where though) that he that believes in me without having seen me will be even greater than the belief of those that believed having seen him. (again no idea where or if thats an accuraet paraphrase i'm new) Therefore if my children find christ without me i would be even happier.
comments?
5  Theology / General Theology / Re: Book of Jude on: March 06, 2006, 02:24:05 PM
Ok (again bare with me im very new) when we were studying this in my Christian Union they said that the book of Jude wasn't so much about say actors or famous people (or whatever the equivalent would be in old times) but about the Church leaders themselves and how we should never ask other people for advice or how to live but that we should always look to the Bible to see how to live. I do agree though that a lot of people live in  a way that goes against the Book and G and try to encourage others to join them in this lifestyle.

Can anyone tell me about the book of Jude or more about Jude? I think i understand the overall meaning but when did he convert and when did he write etc.
7  Welcome / About You! / Hi i'm new on: February 28, 2006, 07:06:19 AM
Hello and greetings. I am new hear and have only just discovered my religion. I'm a uni student in London studying medicine and am looking for help in educating me in the ways of Christ and Christianity to make me a better person and Christian. I think that this forum is made up mostly of Americans so i can maybe offer you guys slightly different views on some topics. It's taken this long to find Christ due to the fact that i was brought up to hate religion but pbuh i have found Christ. I hope we can have some interesting conversations.
Peace
