Thanks man. The closer I get to the Lord the clearer things seem to me. How sometimes we try to make things harder than they need to be. We see the pain in the world or how the society in our country is slipping down the tubes and look at it and try to devise strategies to fix it...when the act of fixing it can start with the way we raise our children.

Remember first that we war against the powers and principalities in the air. We do and so do our children.

That said it is the parents responsibility to raise their children for Christ. Sure, there will always be the prodigal. But the Bible says to train your child in the way that they should go and they will not depart from it.

So, basically....turn of the televisions, stop chasing the american dream, stop working the extra hours and the weekends so you can afford the nicer house and newer cars. Spend time with your children, train them what the Lord commands and most of all....LET THEM SEE CHRIST IN YOU!

Friend...

Pray that the Lord softens the heart of your pastor and that you get his (the pastors) full support. Many times a ministry will die out because it doesn't have the leaderships full support.

That said, well done. Its a good thing you are trying to do. Keep at it. Remember that your group doesn't have to be 80 men for it to be successful. If you have to start small thats fine. Take these men and grow in christ with them. Soon, others are going to want to join just because of the transformed characters in these men. Keep your eyes on Christ. Do it all for the glory of God. God will bless you and make your ministry grow when its done for His glory.

Would love to recommend a book for you all to study. Its called "Finishing Strong" by Steve Farrar. Look it up on Amazon. Its great.

Hiya,

I am 30 years old and about half that time was spent in addiction to p*rn and lustful thoughts. However, the Lord set me free from that four months ago. Now the compulsion is even gone.

Allow me to give you some advice from a man set free....

1) Lay it before Jesus. Look at my discussion handle. We are More Than Conquerors through him. You CANNOT quit by yourself, but only through Jesus.

2) You cannot break bad habits simply by not doing them. You have to replace them with something. Basically, break bad habits with good habits. Conquer evil with good. When you feel lust creeping you can do several things. 1) Close your eyes and just pray. It almost doesn't even matter what you pray..just pray. Offer a praise, cry for help, speak a word of scripture. 2) Pick up your Bible when you feel the "need" coming. It works. I promise. 3) Someone metioned meditation earlier. Good one. Pick a piece of scripture or maybe a hymn or just think about Jesus and meditate on it. Remember, replace bad habits with Godly habits. Soon the everlasting joy from the Godly habits will make you cringe at the thought of the momentary pleasure the bad habits bring.

3) If you are having a problem with the internet use a filter. I recommend www.wisechoice.net. Its not free...but its the best. The only way to turn it off is to cancel your service...Its a very accountable, christian filter.

4) Find someone you can be accountable to. Someone each week you can meet with and who isn't afraid to ask you the hard questions. Better yet, find two people. And make sure they are men.

5) Pray that the Lord gives you his eyes so you can see the women you lust after are the children he died for. This is my current prayer for myself.
5  Welcome / About You! / Hello All... on: March 25, 2005, 01:26:09 PM
Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you all I look forward to reading alot of these posts.

Just a little about myself...

I was born again about 4 months ago after living almost a lifetime of semblance of christianity and then complete enmity of God.  I was a goat for the longest time before Christ turned me into a sheep.

Right now the biggest thing you should know about me is that I love Jesus with all my heart, mind, soul and strength and I do my very best to pour out that love on others.

My passion is discipleship....teaching others how to grow in Christ and in maturity. Kind of a funny thing maybe for only a 4 month old Christian to teach... But the responsibility of every disciple of Christ is to pass on what he has learned to others...and thats what I am doing.

This site looks fantastic. I found it by doing a search for free Andrew Murray writings. Andrew Murray has been one of the biggest influences in my walk and the man who I want to see first when I get to heaven....other than our Lord of course Smiley
