Symph, you said everything I was trying to say. And WWJD is overdone as the bracelet or emblem, anymore it means nothing as far as your faith goes. But, like you said, it is a legit question we should all think about.

yes, but the things that he uses the power of God for are just wrong! They aren't what God would do either. And, worst of all, he's doing selfish things. THAT'S the problem. It's good that he gets saved at the end. But the end does not justify the whole movie

hmm...I was reading over the posts and someone said something along the lines of "Violence doens't affect me..."
That's just the problem. These days violence DOESN'T affect people. That is one way our society is declining. People have starting accepting violence as an okay thing.
Some violence, yes. But as much as I've heard is in the Matrix, someone else who posted said it right: WWJD? or rather WWjS (what would Jesus say?).
God Bless!

I think that even without seeing the movie, from the previews we as Christians should be able to tell that it is blasphemous. It is making fun of God's powers by have Jim Carry use them for things that are selfish and morally wrong.
If God were to watch it, what would he think?
I think that to an extent we can and need to judge movies before we watch them. If we watch them first, we already have the junk in our heads. The previews, reviews, plot of the movie, and sometimes even actors can say a lot.
God Bless!

Entertainment / Movies / A New Approach: Challenge
|
on: June 08, 2003, 02:36:10 PM
|
Hey, ya'll! I have a challenge for everyone. It concerns listening to music, watching movies, watching Tv shows, playing video games, all the media stuff.
I challenge you that before you watch a movie, read a book, listen to a CD, watch a show, or play a video game, take a minutes to think about, (based off reviews, ratings, previews, etc) what would God have to say about that movie/video game/book/show/Cd?
Would He want you to watch it or listen to it or play it? If you couldn't look him in the eyes (just imagine this) and say that He would want you to watch it, then maybe you should examine whether you should or not.
God Bless!

Fellowship / What are you doing? / Food Drive
|
on: June 08, 2003, 02:31:05 PM
|
Hi everyone. This is a board to tell what you're being called to do or what you are doing in your community. So I'm going to tell that. My mom has always said that some of my gifts are compassion, a heart to help, and I'm an idea person. In the past year or so I've realized that God want me to use my gifts for the sake of Him and others. This past year at school I started a food drive. We made it so that there was a competition between the three Humanities classes. It turned out to be a huge success. With 60 people in the school, we had over 1,500 items donated to go to Sunshine Mission. I hope to organize food drives at school in the future also. I don't say this to brag, in fact if someone tells me that's such a good idea I'll tell them that it's God's idea, he just used me. I say all this to encourage you to do something like it. Food drives, clothing drives, toiletry drives, etc... are all great ways to help others but can be made fun for everyone also. The best part about it was thinking that each item that was donated would go to someone who had nothing. The thought of the smiles on their faces when they got the food made all the work and organization and hours of counting all well worth it. God Bless!

Welcome / About You! / Hi! I'm new!

Hello, everyone! I am new here, although I have found this board easy to find my way around since my school's forum uses the same softward. I am going to be a freshmen/sophomore (long story, graduating in three years). I go to a small private Christian school that started four years ago. We had 60 people this year 7-12. I love music and I love Jesus Christ with all my heart, soul, and mind. In the past year or two I have found a whole new level to my faith- I'm on fire for Jesus. I've trusted everything to him. I love New Zealand, even though I don't live there, because my research shows it's beautiful, it has mountains and a coast which I love, and the weather fit me perfect. God Bless!

Hi! My family found that Pax TV on Sunday nights has some really good programs. Doc- about a Montana doctor who moves to the Big Apple Sue Thomas- based off a real persons life, about a deaf woman who goes into the FBI Just Cause- about a law firm (Starring Richard Thomas) and a woman who's husband blamed insurance fraud on her, she went to jail for five years but is out and works for the law firm.
All three are interesting, free of language and sexual stuff, and have Biblical references.
