Yes i am an atheist, there are rules to what people can say (on this forum), to say the least it limits me more than others but yes we do exist

Your main problem is that is was originally a religious holiday? (as some others have mentioned, it was pagan in origin, then t'was modified a bit)

I would blame the Companies and Media who hype the holiday up.  I remember seeing a discussion similar to this, where a person said that basically The Christmas holiday used to be just celebrated by Chrisitans, and it wasn't such a big deal for everyone else. So i would expect if you looked back in the newspapers, go back about 30 years, and and keep going back in 10 year steps. See how much Christmas is reported in the papers.


other than that, i would say one of your non-christian friends is correct, it isn't really celebrated for the religious reasons much. Sure there is a lot of good things that come out of it. But you don't see papers or the TV reporting on the Christian message. Instead they portray the commercial aspect of our 'new Christmas', they're in it for the money.

I just eat meat because it tastes good, is easy to obtain because of high demand, gives a varied diet (although as you said you can get proteins from plants etc)

Of course i doubt someones going to find that meat is for health reasons unhealthy, just look at those eskimo's....eaten away on a meat only diet.

I have been to (every year, twice) Switzerland, so between the comfortable home life, the nice holidays. And my friends who have been and hate it. I feel good about it

I'm from Aberdeen Scotland. Oil Capital of Europe.(north sea Oil), The silver City (the granite buildings), Third Largest City in Scotland.

Errmmmm Oh and Since we're close to the Hills, theres oppotunity for all the usual stuff. (i.e. walking climbing etc Even skiing IF your lucky....). Their not quite as impressive as say the Alps (my mums swiss and we spend summers down there,  gorgeous views   ) We've also got watersports activities near by etc...(although it WILL be cold, unless you catch a hot period)

I think you overestimate them....

Could i point out that vegetarians are at the very least hypocrites as they still use animal products. So for instance they drink milk, only the cows can produce milk, and since the farmer can't use all the bulls (some will be needed to maintain the populations), most are killed for meat. So a vegetarian actually helps support the farmer too.

Of course that might be a bias cause you are giving us limited information.

If your the type of people (in your area) that would connect those things together i suppose its a bad thing. I've never connected that in my years of watching TV ( although i currently watch nothing, due to boredom with it and its not exactly interactive) And I suppose that since i havn't connected it, It isn't bad, i mean i shouldn't go around activly thinking these things? That would be counter-productive i.e must not think "hes not wearing pants" ad nauseam, you think what your not meant too

You know if you can draw some pearls of wisdom from that, you'll be doing great   Its a bit messed. Basically i'm saying that "ignorance is divine", if your kids notice it, ban it, if not or if they don't say it'll be your call....
