Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion Photos - effective or not?
|
on: May 21, 2004, 11:31:01 PM

If you think about it, I TRULY DO believe that pictures of aborted babies are effective!! I mean does Planned Parenthood show the mothers pictures of aborted babies right before they have an abortion?? NO WAY!!! They KNOW A LOT of women would change their minds and LEAVE WITHOUT getting the abortion!! I looked at one website today that had photos of aborted babies who were LATE TERM abortions--I mean 25 WEEKS GESTATION and I LITERALLY CRIED!!!! It breaks my heart that someone could MURDER an INNOCENT BABY like that!!!! They also had letters from women who had thought about abortion but went to their website FIRST, saw the pictures and changed THEIR MINDS and are now going to keep their babies!! SOOO---YES!!! PHOTOS DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! that may be true but im afarid that isnt enough for some people we need to find other ways also not including screaming sayin that its wrong we could hand out flyers outside of clinics with pictures on it or somthing im only fifteen and probably couldnt do much but there are those out there that can i'd advise you to do what you can in the most sensible and friendly way

What is Lacking in Many Debates? reba, i dont understand what you mean with this post Hello One and welcome to the fourms... inside jokes are not so fun to new members so i will gladly explane.... Hitch is my brother (as in same parents) he has a fast knowledge of scripture, coupled with a rude mouth , lets just say if you look up the word sarcasm in the dictionary you would find “Hitch”. He was asked to leave. So i kid around about him.... I miss his posts here and could just ring his neck for letting his sarcasm when over the tender heart I know him to hide…. oh ...ok thanks for explaining

Well....I'm sure this will torque a lot of jaws.
What is missing in most debates is the same thing that is missing here...sticking to the subject, and using logic and sound argumentation.
Most debates are not so much a matter of getting the "other guy" to change their mind, but in convincing those who "listen" by the weight of argument.
In Christian argument (predominantly evangelical) form, reliance upon and presentation of an abundance of applicable scripture in well-formed arguments is what is missing.
Granted that most of the "debates" are a combination of ad hominems, appeals to authority, guilt by association and so on ad nauseum, but that is a function of the individuals inability to properly construct their argument to begin with.
And there will always be those who refuse to reason, relying instead upon what they have learned, been taught, or heard from someone else.
"my people perish for a lack of knowledge".
i agree debators should back there opinion up but also be tolerant to others opinion and not act as if there way is right and everyone else is wrong

have you noticed on the news its always this many people died today in a shooting in a car crash or something or another and the news people make this big deal about it when thousands upon thousands millions upon millions of people die every month ,week , day , hour , minute, second and yet if some person dies in a little car crash its this big deal when people die everyday and it makes me sick to see the news broadcasting death with fake smiles on there faces acting like they care that a man died or a woman was kiddanped or a child was abused thats why im boycotting the news theres just two much sadness and nobody seems to care as long as that gets them extra air time and money to broadcast peoples suffering they dont care about the family members of the dead only for a chance at a story and it breaks my 15 year old heart -kay

Heide, Praise God!!!! You should be full of joy that you were banned!!!! The RC Religion is full of blasphemy and error. There are probably a FEW true believers in their ranks as they do preach Christ, but the entire religious system is full of error.
To begin with, its foundation is completely wrong. I am making reference to Peter's confession, petra, petros, and the Church. It goes on to add such absurdities and non-scriptural teachings as the veneration of Mary, transubstantiation, baptismal regeneration, lent and other such nonsense, Papal infallibility, purgatory, prayers for the dead, nuns, and celibacy (Its always cheaper to have to house and have insurance for only one person).
You should be thrilled at being banned as it means that you are being persecuted for righteousness sake. Now, someone will probably come along, take a portion of what I posted, and attempt an attack mw since what I have posted is truth. I hope they do and I can then celebrate with you.
Grace and peace X,
aw
amen to that all of that is just a way to make money and takes attention from god to things that dont matter

Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong?
|
on: May 01, 2004, 06:28:25 PM

There were abortions in Jesus day and Jesus never mentioned abortion. I HATE abortion. Don't get me wrong. If I see a baby bird without feathers fall out of a nest, I feel heart broken. I don't think I could go on living if I have to see an aborted baby every day. But I feel that all the loud talkers about abortion are mostly hypocrites. They don't check on their neighbor. You know, if a woman knew that all she needed was God and that in Him she was complete, no matter what the circumstances of the pregnancy were, she could enjoy the pregnancy and the birth and the child rearing. If she knew that her neighbors cared about her and she didn't have to worry about making a good impression and making people think she had value. You know, there are women out there that have the whole world believing that they don't have value. If they feel they don't have value, then how are they going to put value on some little being growing inside themselves? They can't. So, what I see happening in so many cercumstances is that folks focus on the "do not kill" law to make them feel like they themselves have value. Even the loud talkers about abortion are talking loud about abortion to feel like they themselves have value. It's just so hypocritical all of it. You think it's going to give you some extra value if you talk loud about anti-this or anti-that. It doesn't solve the problem that the people that are struggling most with trying to be valued feel that they don't have value and then they don't attribute any value to what is growing inside of them. Doctrines about the elect and the chosen few and the "us vs them" doctrines attribute value to certain groups. And the people inside the gropus feel like they're all somebody special to that group. It's the same behavior with Gangs. Everybody wants to be part of something. The people getting the abortions are struggling with the issues of the value of a human. They don't understand that and all of the Christians that think they're getting some kind of higher value status by talking about Christianity only make the issue worse for the person that doesn't understand God's value on all of us. If all we do is talk about laws and don't live out His love, it really makes no sense to folks that are struggling to get value. You know, the sadest thing is that a whole lot of women out there let men have their way with their body because they're trying to feel valued. It doesn't matter what they say or how much self-esteem they claim to have. It's about feeling complete. If we don't teach the Gospel in it's completeness, but just focus on the laws and not the love, it leaves people incomplete and they think there's no value in the Gospel giving them value. If they don't think there's value in the Gospel and they don't know for sure they themselves have inherent value, then how are they to value a thing that can't even speak. I think if we want to be pro-life we need to live out His love and we need to start with our very next door neighbor. Everybody, anyone who claims to care about life go visit your neighbor! i understand your point and i am somewhat in agreement with you the people who oppose abortion shouldnt just yell out its evil its a sin you will be damned (though it is all those things) they should let those people know that there is a higher power out there that loves and cares about them and the little LIFE growing inside of them is wanted by god or even a barren couple who might want the child
