91  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / God's prescription for depression on: December 27, 2007, 10:20:40 PM
Psalm 40:1-2 says, "I waited patiently for the Lord;  and he inclinded unto me, and heard my cry.  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."

I used to work as a telemarketer (An honest one though!) for 10 years.  Many times during that ten years, I would get depressed because of certain ethical principles that I felt were being violated!  I protested those ethical violations, and God honored my Christian principles.  I had three young children during those ten years, and God used the above verses to get me through the stress of making enough sales to keep my job!  He also gave opportunities to witness to my fellow workers and the people I sold products to.  You had to be almost perfect to keep your job with making enough sales and in the process, quality sales!  But God gave me victory through the Lord Jesus Christ taking His word and making it real in my daily life!
92  Theology / Bible Study / This is my Father's World on: December 26, 2007, 08:25:34 PM
The hymn This is my Father's World is a great hymn which shows the Creator of the World as the triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Evolution, a doctrine of atheists from the mind of Satan, should not be taught by the Christian colleges because it is based on faulty reasoning, lies, and Satanic humanism.  I have heard some Christians say that they can take the best of creation and evolution, as if they were picking food from a discount buffet.  But the Word says, "Let God be true, and every man a liar!"

93  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / The Bible prescription for walking in the light on: December 25, 2007, 06:17:49 PM
I John 1:6-9 says, "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:  But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

The secret to walking with God in the light of His word is by confession of our sins immediately and commune with Him moment by moment throughout the day.  His characteristics of faithfulness, mercy, and justice will enable us to love Him for who He is, our wonderful Savior and Lord!

94  Theology / Apologetics / Maintaining good works on: December 24, 2007, 07:29:53 PM
Are good works essential for salvation?  Of course, not!  Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."  But the next verse, verse 10, answers our question.  Verse 10 says, "For we are His workmanship in Christ Jesus, created unto good works, which God hath foreordained that we should walk in them."  Good works are a testimony unto the unsaved world that we as Christians should be doing!

Titus 3:8 says, "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which believed in God might be careful to maintain good works.  These things are good and profitable unto men."  Good works are important for us to do with a heart of love and devotion for our Lord.  I Corinthians 15:58 says, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."  At the judgment seat of Jesus Christ, we will be rewarded for our good works if they are done for His honor and glory.
95  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Support for marriage amendment on: December 23, 2007, 08:06:55 PM
I support the marriage amendment which states that marriage is between one man and one woman!  The gay rights marriage amendment should be defeated because it is contrary to the Word of God!

Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh."  It does not say between two men or two women, but between one man and one woman!

96  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Obedience to the Lord on: December 22, 2007, 08:44:15 PM
Acts 9:17 says, "And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house: and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive my sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost."

Usually, in Acts 9, we focus upon the apostle Paul's dramatic conversion experience with the Lord Jesus Christ.  But, likewise, we should also focus on the obedience of Ananias, who obeyed the Lord, even though he had heard how Saul had persecuted the church of Jesus Christ throughout Israel.  Ananias obeyed the Lord completely, and we know the rest of the story!

97  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Salvation for the Gentiles on: December 22, 2007, 08:29:48 PM

Isaiah 49:6 says, "And he said, "It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel:  I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth."

Here we see even in the Old Testament, God's love for the Gentiles as well as the Jews.  God's love for both is summed up in the above verse.  We see Rahab, the harlot, Noah, Naaman, Job, Nebuchadnezzar, and many other Gentiles being selected by God for salvation and service for Him!

98  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / The ecumenical movement on: December 21, 2007, 12:15:40 AM
The ecumenical and emergent church movement are being used by Satan to set up the one-world church and government of the Antichrist!  Rick Warren's deemphasis on Bible prophecy and meddling in the Middle East peace treaty between Israel and Syria is one example of the emergent, apostate church's involvement in the breaking down of true Bible doctrine to set up one apostate, ecumenical church of Satan!  Paul urged Christians to 'speak the truth in love."  He urged Christians to rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine!  True Bible doctrine, that is!  The Roman Catholic Church's involvement  and rapprochement with the Protestants, Hindus, Buddhists, and Jewish liberals will bring about the one-world church of the Antichrist!  We should pray that Christ's true church will be one, but not for the one-world church of the devil and His liberal, modernistic crowd who deny the deity and divinity of our precious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!

99  Theology / Bible Study / Covetousness on: December 18, 2007, 11:26:32 PM
Exodus 20:17 says, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's sife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's."

Luke 12:15 says, "And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness;  for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."

Jesus Christ warned in both Scriptural passages about the sin of covetousness or greed.  Accumulation of material possessions whether money, property, or playthings can not give a person permanent peace and joy in this life nor in the life to come.  Jesus Christ warned about this sin in the parable of the rich man who sought to accumulate more barns and more fruits in the parable in Luke 12:16-21.

I Timothy 6:10 says, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."  The love of money or covetousness is the sin, not having money itself!  If we have an abundance of money, we should our money to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and our fellow Christian brethren.

100  Welcome / About You! / About me on: November 30, 2007, 11:01:37 PM
My name is Phillip, and I have been saved for 38 years through the ministry of Dr. Billy Graham on December 7, 1969.  I enjoy witnessing for the Lord, Bible study, Bible prophecy, weight lifting, running, gardening, clean movies, anything with Chuck Norris who is a great Christian, pets, and spending time with my children and wife.  I am old-fashioned as I am 54 years old.  I am ancient in age according to today's young generation, have gray hair, am physically fit and try to be spiritually fit, and enjoy working with exceptional children in the public school system.  I am a teacher by vocation and calling from the Lord.  I, also, work at the YMCA part-time as a custodian.  That is who I am, and my life verses are John 14:1-3.
