2356  Entertainment / Books / The Case For Christ on: July 11, 2003, 01:47:09 PM
Has anyone read "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel? It is a great book, if you haven't read it, go out and get it. Strobel takes the Evidence of Christ, and cross-exemines sevreal experts on the subject. I'm sure youv'e heard of Strobel, even if you don't know the name. He is a legendary Journalist who set out to prove Christianity wrong and became saved in the process. He has sevreal books at, and I'm about to read the rest, but you guys NEED to check his books out. They area  most read for any Christian, and Skeptics alike...

Send the e-mail back and tell them it is a lie! This is a straight lie! They said the same thing about Dr. Pepper when 9-1-1 first started. GO to any Urban legend site and look this up, either Pepsi or Dr. Pepper, and they will tell you the same thing I am now. I’m a Classic Coke man my self, but if you like Pepsi, drink up! Grin There is nothing to fear! It is all just an ugly, untrue, rumor!

But please, send what I have told you to the people who sent it to you. If christians go up in arms everytime we hear a romur like this, they are going to laugh at us and blow us off when sometime we REALLY need to make an issue about comes up! Thanks a lot.

Remember The 36(?) hour famine? I know you guys remember WWJD! And there are tons of Conferences and stuff all over the place! Does anyone have a good website to keep us up on all this stuff, and give us all the facts? If not, we need one! What do you guys think? With all the Christian Fads out there, and bands, and teachings I think we need a site that tells us about them! Any thoughts?
2363  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Thread for Baptist on: July 03, 2003, 09:43:24 PM
Thanks guys, this is really clearing things up. lol, keep arguing!

Psalm 119- Can you get me some SBC sites that say they are not protestant? In fact, does ANYONE know the SBC site, and if so, what part of the site should I look at to find there part where they say they are not protestant. I’m not denying what anyone is saying, I agree, Baptist are known for saying they are not protestant. I know this, but some friend of mine don’t, and are still clamoring for “credible” info.

Brother love- I’m not trying to ignore you, I just don’t have a clue what your talking about! lol, my tag? What do you mean?
2364  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Thread for Baptist on: July 02, 2003, 10:33:20 AM

I've been good. On vacation. Life is good!
2368  Entertainment / Movies / the Italian Job on: June 29, 2003, 09:41:17 PM
I just went to see the Italian Job. It was great! For a movie in Hollywood today, there was little curse, maybe one or 2 words, and there was barely even an allusion to sex of any kind! If you like Movies like “the Saint” and “Entrapment” and “Ocean’s 11” but want to see less adult material, see the Italian Job. It is rated PG-13 for some violence and a little cursing. In some places, you even noticed how the writers went out of their way to replace the curse words!

For the most part, the movie stuck to the plot at a good pace, not clogging it up with sex and needless violence. The only violence and sex use where there to further the plot, and it was written to so well, they didn’t use them very often! Since it is about International Thieves, I wouldn’t suggest it for younger children, but this is a movie that is worth seeing!

Anglicans are not considered to be protestants.
They're in the middle between Catholics and protestants - because you can get both very low churches, similar to the evangelical denominations, and the Anglo-Catholic churches - which are pretty much identical to Catholic ones save only that they do not recognise the Pope as the supreme authority. On every other issue these churches agree with Catholics.

I know some Methodists who think the same thing. They think they are the perfect mix of Protestants and Catholics. Then again, the Methodists did come from the Anglican church...

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been out for a few days.

kathleen5- Yeah, pretty much EVERY church believe they are a modern model of the first Century church, But only churches like Baptist, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodoxy bring it so far as to say they WERE the original church, descended directly from Paul and Peter and the rest of the gang.

Sympophone- I believe the BMA stands for the Baptist Missionary Alliance, or something like that. They are fairy new branch of the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention). The BMA is big here where I live. They where founded in Arkansas. I live in a town on the Northeast side of Texas, where the BMA’s home seminary is located. BMA, in sort, are about the same as SBC, only they don’t agree with who the SBC using there missionary money. Also, the BMA are WAY heavier into Fundamentalism them SBC.

Saved_4ever- What type of Baptist are you? I’m guessing you’re a Fundamentalism/bible Baptist, right? Please find that web site when you get a chance.

Petro- The Eastern Orthodoxy have their own Patriarch, I’m pretty sure they don’t follow the pope.

Everyone else- Thanks for the info, guys. In a town were the Baptist churches outnumber all of the other groups, it helps to get all the info you can find.
