1. It does make sence, assuming the read knows what the topic is. And sence the is listed atthe top, those who don't shouldn't correct others grammer  Grin

2. I though you just turned 16? Didn't we just have a post about that? My bad  Grin

3. You are confusing the objects with the subject. "16 year old who likes Tool" is the full subject.

But yeah, it was a good movie.

NPC, I'm guessing? Or some other local league? Did ya win any shows?
2343  Entertainment / Books / Re:The Case For Christ on: July 16, 2003, 01:33:14 AM
Yeah, a Case for Faith is it, I think. I have it, too, but I haven't read it yeah.Looks good.

Just came home from seeing, do as the 16 year old who likes Tool orders. He has, for once, shown good taste  Grin

See, Saved, all this time you thought we had nothing in common. :-D Come

Sapphire, the prominent bass, the power chords...grunge.
Quote

Or metal, or punk, or Funk, or ska, or industeral, etc, etc.

Quote
The flannels and boots.

yeah, grunga, or punk, or Lumberjacks, or a boy band who is taking the ventage look WAY to far :-D

Quote
The imagery on the album. How do you define grunge?

6 pence and PFR and Shaded Red and the Normals have albums like that, are they grunge?

Boy bands pose as other styles all the time. The copy the rock and rap styles, in an effort to look cool.

I also lifted weights for many years.

Competatively? What sport? What events?
2347  Theology / General Theology / Re:Being charismatic on: July 15, 2003, 01:33:44 AM
Let me just clarify a little:

Pentecostal and charismatic are not interchanged. I’m Charismatic, and  my Charismatic Denomination is very liturgical in nature, and if you know the Pentecostal, you know liturgical masses are not in there nature! Don’t confuse the Charismatic giftings with the emotionally run and money driven Charismatic movement. The giftings are real, the movement was/is an exploitation if those giftings and the emotions of the people who use them. The problem with the movement is all the loons in it, and all the Nuts who try to capitalize on the loons. Both give the rest of us a bad name.

The Roman Catholics do have a strong Charismatic group. As many Catholics read Charisma (the largest Charismatic periodical) as Pentecostals. The reason this movement within the Roman church hasn’t gotten out of hand, as some of the other churches has, is for 2 reasons. The first one is, again, they have probably the most structured, liturgical meetings out of any Denomination, and there is no time set aside for Ministry of that nature unless the Clergy make it. Secondly, while these Charismatic churches can break off in to “independent” church and play with snakes or sprinkle glitter and claim it is gold flakes from God, the Roman Catholic Church is a single, strong, governing body that has Priest set aside for the sole purpose for testing and researching these “works of God” and they weed out the Benny Hen wanta-be’s before they can get rolling.

I didn't like Jesus Freak. It seemed like they had been a boy band-ified!

The Newsboys where good when they first came out, everything after "take me to your leader" was a waste of digial coding. TMTYL wasn't even as good as everything before it. They were trying to brake out of the Petra mold, it sounded like, they only ended up breaking a few ear drums and there credability.

Rule of keeping your band alive #2346: When your fan base is full of left over Petra fans, you don't make a disco ablum, otherwise your fans are going to be more alienated then the cover of Take me to your leader!
2349  Entertainment / Movies / Re:Pirates of the Carribean on: July 15, 2003, 01:08:30 AM
I plan on it, I heard it owned!
2350  Entertainment / Music / Re:my favorite christian band on: July 14, 2003, 04:55:48 PM
Kristen- Petra was like the prop type Christian modern rock group. The Fatehr of AA and the Newsboys (Back when both those bands played music worth listening to, that is). It was one of the first BIG Christian Rock bands. They were alright, but I’d take Thomas Tallis and Robert Byrd any day (I guess I‘m the only one NOT showing my age Grin).
2351  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Secular Music on: July 14, 2003, 04:47:35 PM
Please! Have you heard their music when they first started? Have you seen pictures of them when they first started. I mean old school 80’s rap! And then they just up and switch to rock, when old school Rap goes out of style. There is only one reason you change genre that drastically, Money! I mean, Rap is, and rock is cool, but when you switch, you sell out, and you sell out for ONE reason, you want to stay around. And you do that for one reason. MONEY!
2352  Entertainment / Sports / Re:A Good Athlete... on: July 14, 2003, 04:30:10 PM
In Wrestling: What weight class?
In football: What poss?

Whitehorse, I was great, thanks for asking
2353  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Secular Music on: July 13, 2003, 06:38:24 PM
Creed actually started out Christian, but went secular.

Don't worry, I only judge bands that I know about. the reason I used DC Talk, because they are clearly all about money, and emotional maniplation of the Christian public to get it. Power and money can do all kinds of thinks to a person, and they don't even see it half the time. DC Talk is a sell-out band, they changed genra, and for what? Money, it is all about money! At least Tool admitts they are a corprate band!
2354  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re:Secular Music on: July 13, 2003, 03:33:21 PM
I see nothing wrong with secular music. Nothing that isn’t wrong about Christian music. The only Christians bands that actually sing songs about god and how great he is are the bands like the former DC Talk and all their spin offs, and to these bands, it is all about manipulating the emotions of the Christian public for money. The other Christian band spend have their time being goofy and remaking Veggietales songs and don’t even talk about God in their music half the time! Christian music, give me a break, there is no suck thing anymore!
2355  Entertainment / Sports / The Newcomer's Guide to Martial Arts Talk on: July 12, 2003, 01:52:28 PM
This is all so true! lol

Judo is better than karate.
I only practice Judo.

The martial arts are about striving to achieve a black belt.  The martial arts are about money.

Chinese martial arts are the best!
I practice a Chinese martial art.

High kicks are stupid.
I can't do high kicks.

Tournaments are extremely important.
I'm good at fighting and I win trophies.

The martial arts are about building character.
You'll never be any good, but keep coming anyways.

Korean martial arts are the best.
I practice a Korean martial art.

Board breaking techniques are not important.
I couldn't break out of a paper bag.

I don't believe in colored belts.
I learned in the backyard and nobody ever promoted me.

The martial arts are about building better people.
Like me.

Grappling arts are the best.
I practice a grappling art.

Sophisticated arts like Tai Chi and Aikido are far superior.
Fighting frightens me.

He's a good martial arts teacher.
He's in my organization.

He's a lousy martial arts teacher.
I don't know anything about him.

My style is the best.
I don't know anything about any other styles.

Promotions are not important.
There's a grading coming up and it's important.

Throwing techniques are less important than grappling.
I can't throw anyone and I'm tired of trying.

I'm an innovative, modern Western martial arts teacher, doing my own non-classical thing.
I'm more interested in teaching than learning, and Asians ignore me because they know how ignorant I am.

Martial arts politics are the necessary result of official recognition by respectable associations to protect the public. I'm an officer in a large organization.

I hate martial arts politics.
None of the large organizations recognize me or have the slightest interest in my existence.

In this system, we adapt the technique to fit the person.
Do it the way I said to.

Competitions are a waste of time.  I've never won any competitions.

Forms or kata are the highest expression of the inner essence of the martial arts.
I read that somewhere -- and I've had enough of tournaments.

Kata or forms are useless.
Bruce Lee said forms are useless.

One style is not better than another -- it's the individual that counts.
Please don't go to another school.

Practice makes perfect.
Please sign up again.

He doesn't deserve his rank.
I didn't get promoted as fast as him.

Size and strength are not important.
I'm bigger and stronger than average.

Science and leverage will always win out over brute force.  I'm smaller and weaker than average.

The purpose of the martial arts is spiritual development and liberation from the ego.
I'm so humble and wise, it's terrific.

It sounds like Christians to me, lol!
