Title: Debate to end all debates!
Post by: 2nd Timothy on May 27, 2005, 10:06:55 AM
OK folks, lets review the rules here quickly before we begin.

It might get hot in this kitchen. If you don't like heat, stay out of this kitchen. Only the more obvious rules about language and topics will be enforced here.

Disclaimer:  If you find this man or his treatment of chickens offensive, you might not wish to read any further.

Your backwards conservative insults will not sway me! The times are changing, and so must we! Original was fine for back in the day, but this is a new age, and a time for a new guard! The crispy guard!

The New Southern Journal is Medical did a study that clearly shows that, not only do crisp taste better, but they also lower cholesterol, cure cancer, do advanced calculus, and are low in carbs, too! :P

Keep your originals, you red state wacko! ;D

A little bite of original, then a smidgen of crispy, and a
DOUBLE HELPIN' OF EXTRA SPICY!......

Bryl Cream, a little dab'l do ya....

I would, at this point in time, just like to say that none of you have any clue as to which one tastes best, since you have not mentioned in any way, shape, form or fashion the requirement....YES, REQUIREMENT.....that ALL chicken (pollo) must be ingested with copious quantities of that culinary delight, JALAPENO PEPPERS!!!!

Bunch of gastronomic illiterates....mumble, mumble

How dare you compromise, Evangelist! I can’t believe that you, of all people, would be for seeker-friendly chicken! I’m appalled! Man, you think you know a guy, then he goes and pulls something like this! Tom, this man needs to be banned! This thoughts are just unfastfood! I can never look at you the same again! ;D ;D ;D

And extra spicy, how dare you even bring it! Such debauchery can say in the bucket where in belongs! Even Honey BBQ would have been ok, but Spicy? You need to example your stomach, spend some time in fasting, and think about such things!  ;D ;D ;D

Jalapeño peppers? I’m offended to even eat at the same place as you! May god have mercy on your soul!

I'm in a blue state and still prefer original.

Jalapeño peppers? Those are for the ones that don't like the flavor of chicken and must hide it. (They are also for those with iron lungs, iron stomach, etc.) I avoid things that burn.

I am absolutely shocked at this insensitive and intolerant thread.  Its outwardly urbane appearance hardly veils the blatant intent, and I for one, see right through the ruse.

To begin with, PETA has already told us through a nationwide ad campaign that a chicken is the same as a Jew.  As a result, I must conclude that this thread is either aimed at the unthoughtful degradation of chickens or Jews, or perhaps even both!

And then, to compound the intolerance, insensitivity towards Mexicans was introduced to the thread!  (Yes, Evangelist - I'm talking about you.  You see, I know that what you really mean when you say "chicken is best with jalapeno" is that we need Mexicans to work at KFCs.  You cleverly try to hide your actual agenda, but it plainly reveals it's self!)

And then all this talk of "original" or "crispy":  A CHOICE MUST BE MADE!   This is rhetoric viciously intended to divide!  Take Tibby's attempt to revive the Civil War!  This thread is hurtful, intimidating, racist and mean spirited.

Hmmmpfff!
I wouldn't add a syllable to this silly, unthoughtful thread if it was the only thread on the internet.

Oh, yea;
Crispy, (strips with BBQ sauce). (Preferably served in a RED state.)

Here I'll stump ya.  What if I decide to get a value bucket and get orginal and cripsy? I might decide to through in some pop corn chicken in there too.  Hey JudgeNot, would that then apply that I think that midgits should work at a KFC? ;D

Does the chicken get a fair trial and an appeal?

What is the method of execution?

OR, do you just take a leg and a thigh and leave it limping?

NAH! - You give it a lethal injection of Cajun spices and deep fry the whole thing.

LOL @ everyone

This is great stuff!   So this is what it feels like to throw a piece of meat into the din and watch the carnage that ensues?   No wonder trolling is such a problem  :D

All kidding aside for a moment......even with all the jesting, sarcasm, and innuendo's, its not hard to imagine this being a serious matter is it?    Yes its hilarious because of the content, but sobering at the same time in some strange way.    ;)

One final thought....Who invented extra crispy?   Was it the Colonel, or did some of his followers change the recipe adulterating Sanders Doctrine of good wholesome original fried chicken?   :P   ;D

The Prairie Dog Express reports that due to uneven odds Mr P. Dog has disappeared. It is believed that he may be in hiding. One source said they thought that this shady character was him in disguise.

His cousin Mr G. Hog said he hadn't seen a shadow of him.

His other cousin Mr W. Chuck was unavailable for comment and his secretary said he was too busy chucking wood to be seen.

Sherrif Pete P. Dog was interviewed while taking a lunch break at the local KFC and stopped long enough for us to take a few pictures. He told us he was hot on the trail.

He said he would be right back on the job as soon as he finished his order of "ORIGINAL" RECIPE.

I still think the problem lays in Christians taking themselves too seriously. In truth, 90% of what Christian argue about is just about this silly, but the self-righteous, pompous "My group is infallible" mind-set that many Christians have is a real kick in the butt of reason. :-\ Everyone says "No group, not even mine, is perfect" but I do not bleieve most Christians who say that actually believe it. :(

I think we are missing the big picture, guys! There are hundreds of people who still eat at Church's! Lets put our differences aside and realize that we all eat at the same Fast-Food Chicken place! There are States where people who eat KFC are shot at! In some States, they require you to eat Turkey! voiceofthefowls.com talk all about abuses! Groups like the PETA are using their lawyers to take the Drive-thru menu's out of KFCs, and taking chicken away from the children in school lunches! We have to fight back! Lets put our difference aside and fight against the forces at work to destroy everything we have build!

Ahhhh!  It all becomes very clear, now.  You just have to add the facts to find the conspiracy.
The very first KFC was located where?  No NOT Kentucky, but Salt Lake City, Utah!
What river runs through Salt Lake City, Utah?  The JORDAN River!

Yep – you got it – this entire thread is a Mormon conspiracy of divisiveness!

Extra Crispy. Nothing is better than the original. You can get EC from anywhere but KFC is the only original style left. The closest thing to what my Momma made that I can get from a fast food place. EC is too much like getting the precooked chicken from the frozen food dept in the grocery store.

I guess this thread is as good a place to jump in as any. From what I have read here, you all sound like you are members of PETA, That is ( People Eating Tasty Animals).  ;D
I like fried Chicken as well as anyone. Mama cooked hers original style when the hens weren't laying to good and added egg to make it crispy when they were. Going by that, I would have to say crispy, that is spring and summer fried chicken. Travels better for a picnic to. On the other hand, original reminds me of the cold winter evenings after doing chores. Mama's gravy and hot bisquits with that original style chicken. MMMMM Good!

Mama taught me how to fry chicken, so if I have to settle for KFC, I usually get a piece of each. Let me say also, the Colonel doesn't have anything on this old gals fried chicken.  :P
To quote some of the slang the kids use, " It's All Good".

Ok Bare, if your tastebuds are intact, do you really think KFC Okra tastes like true Southern fried Okra is supposed to? I personally think KFC Okra tastes like fried cardboard. Now their coleslaw is great. I can give a recipe for coleslaw that tastes just like theirs. Or rather, theirs tastes like my Mama's did and like mine does. ROFL

KFC coleslaw is the greatest. It taste like my momma's also but I don't have the recipe. If you wouldn't mind would you post it?

I take a medium sized head of cabbage. Chop it real fine. Shred a carrot or two. (This varies from KFC, but is a good addition to coleslaw, One finely chopped apple.) Mix all together. Then for the dressing. I take about a half cup of miricle whip, a quarter cup of milk, quarter cup sugar or equivelent artificial sweetner. A tiny bit of vinegar gives it a zestier taste and also keeps the apple from turning brown. I usually don't use the vinegar unless I add the apple. I mix the dressing all together then fold it into the cabbage. The Coleslaw needs to set for an hour or so to get the same flavor as KFC.

the you know what  coleslaw recipe

1      head          cabbage -- finely chopped

      1/3  cup           granulated sugar
      1/2  teaspoon      salt
      1/8  tablespoon    pepper
      1/4  cup           milk
      1/2  cup           mayonnaise
      1/4  cup           buttermilk
    1 1/2  tablespoons   white vinegar
    2 1/2  tablespoons   lemon juice

rmilk, vinegar and lemon juice and beat until smooth.  Add the cabbage and carr
ots and mix well.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

I can't believe this debate has the most pages of posts, except for the "once saved always saved thread."  Ridiculous!  The answer is obviously ORIGINAL.  What recipe built the great franchise? ORIGINAL.  What recipe is crispy, yet doesn't leave slight abrasions in the roof of your mouth like pizza with garlic salt sometimes does? ORIGINAL. Finally, my fellow Christians, the very word "ORIGINAL" appears in the Good Book itself, yet the word "Crispy" does not.

2 Chronicles 24:13 NIV
The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it.

It shows that even Christians can have fun and some great fellowship in the Lord.

I've found great fellowship as a Christian, many, many more friends than before . . . and what would have surprised me before becoming a Christian, much more openness about themselves, including sins, than among non-Christians.  A non-Christian will tell you about their triumphs easily (whether sinful or not) but Christians will tell about their failures as well . . . and not for pity but for the right reasons . . . which can create a very different and a much closer relationship. I expected the reverse, with everyone pretending to be holy and better than me.  Didn't happen.  I told a little story in a small group about a small thing I had done wrong.  The leader of the group told me about something he did in the same way, much much "worse" and frankly embarrassing.  Didn't phase him or the group a bit and helped me a lot. Lots of us clam up and keep our own council as Christians as well . . . but . . . I've been surprised by the openness and fellowship in the community. Not that this has much to do with fried chicken.

Ah, good friend....but it does!  As a matter of fact, it specifically speaks to the issue of "EXTRA crispy."  You can find the references in Rev. 19:20, 20:10, 20:14 and 20:15.  Plus, there are many other places where just the "crispy" part is spoken of.......check it out!

I was cured from eating hot foods when I was in Guam. The boonie pepper, when grown on Guam, is one of the hottest of all peppers in the world. It melted the iron coating I had in my stomach and I can't eat any kind of peppers now except the really sweet ones. Most of the indigenous people there won't eat it by itself. I made the mistake of doing just that. Eyes bulged and turned red, clothes were soaked in sweat and smoke rolled out of nose and ears for over a week.   :P :P :P

My grandmother in Texas remarried a Mexican fellow, great old guy, who when I was a young boy used to tell my brother and I that we weren't really men unless we could eat hot peppers . . . and then he'd pull down a jar and eat them with us.  Haven't much liked overly hot food ever since . . . but I did win some bets at the National Jamboree in the Boy Scouts.  The Scouts trade patches, and I collected patch after patch eating from a jar of hot peppers.

Brothers and Sisters,

I don't think that I can spell it, but maybe I can get close enough for you to know what I'm talking about.

I tried a Korean food called chem-chi one time, and I thought I was going to die. I didn't have a clue. It was like liquid fire. I have no idea what kind of pepper was in it, but I would rather drink the pepper-mace I used on the police department.   :D   My so-called friend simply told me it was good but somewhat hot. It looked like vegetables, so I chomped down on a pretty good spoonful. I did create a disturbance in the eating place and nothing helped, not even an entire glass of water. Everyone was laughing at me, and I was in my police uniform. I didn't think it was funny.   ;D

My stomach was a complete wreck for about 4 days, and I don't know how people eat this stuff.

LOL ...... That's spelled Kimchi, brother. Almost all Korean food is the same way. I used to eat Korean food without difficulties until after I had that boonie pepper in Guam. After that I couldn't stomach any spicy foods. Now simple things like mild American sausage has my stomach tore up for days.

Hello FaithGranny,

I see that you are new, so WELCOME!

You made a profound statement. The Old Testament is the foundation for understanding and appreciating the New Testament. Many things in the New Testament are confusing unless you understand the Old Testament counterpart.

Now - I'll just speak for my family - we had crispy chicken long before we knew anything about KFC.   ;D

In fact, the Colonel might have stolen our family recipe.   ;D

:D That is what I thought when I first tried KFC. I had heard all the caving about it and we finally were close enough to one that we stopped. I kept thinking, this tastes like Mama's chicken. What is the big deal? LOL
I know now that all fried chicken is not created equal.
I think I could fry one of mine now and it would taste like a duck. I'm not sure, but I think some of my chickens are getting webs between their toes. We got another downpour today with more ordered.
I have a feeling Old Noah wished for a bit of sunshine before the 40 days were over. LOL
