lol, I hear that. I love it, but I have to turn it off right before he says to pull everyone out. JP is crying, JT is crying, then they do that crazy flashback thing at the end. If you don't cry in this movie, I need help! :'( :) THey need to make more movies like this, for soldiers and police officers. Help people to understand it isn't the fun and games we see on TV, and understand the sacrifice these guys makes for people they don't even know (like us). It is a wonderful movie with a wonderful message... and also the last one I've seen  ;D

;D  All of this stuff is far too intellectual for my tastes. (Small Print: Yes, I'm kidding).

I couldn't find a re-run of the 3 Stooges, so I'm trying Home Alone 3. I don't watch many movies, but this one looks like fun. I'll let you know.

The last movie I went to see was The Passion of the Christ.
It was a emotional draining experience. When I think of how Mel Gibson presented the agony of what Christ did for us on the cross, I think of the horrible sins in the world that had to be covered.
I purchsed the movie, but I still can't bring myself watch it again.
Did anyone here see this movie? If so , what is your opinion?

God bless,
bluelake

I did. I was not greatly impressed. Good cinematography, good acting, and he did a good job of showing Catholicism in a way Protestants can respect. However, I think, as a movie, it could have been WAY better. Jesus’ death gave us salvation, but his life taught us how to live our own. I think Mel should have done it like he did Braveheart: Starting off from when he was a Child, and working its way up to his death. That way, he could have should a LOT of Jesus’ teachings, giving a more rounded view of Jesus. This Catholic obsession with Death is sickening to me. People would have gotten more out of a professional actor reciting Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount then they ever would from a 90 minute snuff film!

I also do not like the attitude that so many Christians have that “If you don’t like the Passions, then your heart isn’t right!” The Passions in not the Bible, it is not infallible, James Caviezel is not Jesus, and Mel Gibson is a member of a cult that denies all post-Vatican II Catholicism, and claims all Protestants are going to hell. I really worry about the guy’s mental heath. :-\

In short, it was visually well done, and well cast, but it could have been MUCH better!  2 out of 5

I promised I would let you know about Home Alone 3, and I forgot.

I had 10 paragraphs of information about the review, but I think that Tibby swiped it.  ;D

I give Home Alone 3 just a 2 1/2 out of 5. There were a few laughs, but I didn't think it was nearly as funny as Home Alone 1 and 2.

Just for the record, I gave Home Alone 1 a 4 and Home Alone 2 a 3 on the laugh meter. Keep in mind that I give 5's to several of the 3 Stooges Episodes.  ;D  It almost needs a good pie fight to get a 5.

If I'm in an intellectual mood, I watch The Little Rascals or Laurel and Hardy.  ;D

"Strategic Air Command" on "American Movie Classics" cable channel this AM. A great movie for viewing vintage 1950's air force aircraft and bases. Beautiful pictures of the B-36, B-47, Globemaster cargo carrier, and the KC-97 mid air refuel tanker.
Some great shots of these planes in everday movements of SACs practice missions back then.

If you like airplanes you will like this. The story is a typical Hollywood stock in file drama.

Brother, I can't remember the last full-length movie I watched. Are you saying there is a new Three Stooges movie? If so, I just might have to watch it. I mainly watch 30 minutes to an hour at a time. YES! - I still watch cartoons. Maybe I'm in my second childhood.  ;D  BUT, they have to be the old cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, etc. How about the good old days?

I can't remember how long ago it was, but I remember reading in the Christians Unite news that Hollywood learned there was a fairly big market for clean movies appropriate for Christian families. I wish they would investigate and find out that the same is true for television. I honestly believe that their ratings would improve with clean programs, but this appears to be a mystery so far.

I was just thinking about a trend, and I really don't know how many years are involved. There was a time that regular television programs were clean and someone had to buy pay television for the dirty stuff not fit for family viewing. Now, the opposite is becoming true.

As far as I'm concerned, the best comedies, movies, and other programs of all time were completely clean. HOWEVER, FOR WHATEVER REASON, I really don't think that Hollywood wants to do clean programs these days.

Love in Christ,
Tom

Hebrews 13:5-6 NASB  Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"

I agree. I have had to turn my TV off this last couple of weeks except for the weather and news. It has been full of sick movies because the scheduling has been concentrated on "Halloween" type movies  ......  vampires, devils, evil spirits, etc.  Even the History Channel has gone to showing movies of this sort.

I know my TV is set right now, on the Speed channel. The only time, I change the channel is for the weather and news. Course the Speed channel carries racing. Which has the IROC race from this morning on now. ;D

Good clean movies, are rarity today, and becoming scarce. Bollywood, seems to want filth, with is garbage. When I want to see a movie. I want to take Christ with me, not satan.

Watcha cooking brother?
Country style ribs, mashed taters, and corn on the cob.  The ribs were so tender, you could cut them with a fork. The mashed taters were homemade, not a mix. ;D

That's an old movie. I only watch about 2 hours of tv a day usually when my husband is home other than that I hardly turn the TV on. I prefer to read or listen to Christian music.

Well with this being the movie topic. I was posting the movie, I am listening to. ;D ;D

Although I myself think, most movies today are garbage.

My husband and I just got through watching an old Christian movie titled "The Hiding Place", it's based on a true story, about a Dutch family who were Christian watch and clockmakers, the family name was Ten Boom. The family were quietly sheltering Jews in their small house during the WWII era. When the Nazis discovered the family's secret they were taken to a concentration camp were they endured a true test of their faith.

Nope. He said ships not boats.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The Army did have ships at one time. I could be wrong on the time but I believe it was up until 1950 that they had ships. They still have boats in service right now.

The movie is a comedy, made in 1961...............................

Plot for "The Wackiest Ship in the Army"

In the spring of 1942, the New Zealand government presents the U.S. a 70-year-old wooden twin-masted schooner. The US military decides to use the ship to place spies ashore behind Japanese lines. Jack Lemmon and Ricky Nelson provide comic relief in a film set during World War II. Sight gags abound. Even when the inept crew of the "Wackiest Ship in the Army" is fighting the Japanese who have taken over their ship, we are given reasons to laugh.

Hijinks and spyjinks lighten this effective comedy by Richard Murphy, based, very loosely on an actual incident in World War II. The place is somewhere in the Pacific and the not-so-good ship USS Echo, captained by the comic Lt. Rip Crandall (Jack Lemmon), has a very specific assignment. The floating anachronism has to safely carry an Australian spy deep into enemy territory where he will be stationed to report on the Japanese fleet's activities. Since the Echo should have been dismantled and sold for its parts long ago, this assignment is not easy. As the military and its stereotypical traits are parodied with sophistication and sharp humor, the Captain and his motley crew do their best to successfully complete their mission.

Last movie I watched was Esther. It is a story that I always find so inspiring when I red it, I have seen various versions of Esther, but the one I watched last night was the one that was closest to the Bible.

It is rated PG-13 and the Passion of The Christ is rated R.  I don't think that that was fair.

Hollywood isn't fair to Christians.....that's the conclusion I've come to.
