Was interesting........though they refered to "later traslations"  

Early translations still reflect 666. (at least that was how I understood it)

Maybe they threw that translation out cause the scribe writing it messed it up.... ;D

First of all, I don't trust anything Biblical which the N.G. reports. (read the "National Geographic Slams Christians" on this forum) Secondly, the Gnostic books are totally unreliable and not credable which is why they didn't make the cut.

I saw this article too JN.  Jesus said that the times would be confusing.   But Gods word carefully explains these things, and how it would be used.....a required mark for buying and selling and the number is the number of man.


I mean, how many non believers have you spoke to who have never heard of 666?  The devil will certainly have to confuse this in order to make it work.

Amen brother ....we also have to understand it wont be just a mark... but the worship of the beast and his image as well. The false prophet is the one who makes this work... by calling fire down from heaven in the sight of men, to deceive them.

Miracles are the bomb here for unbelievers... :-\

I tend to agree that lucifer will go to any length to muddle the minds of seekers and attack the minds of Christ's followers.  A long, hateful, bloody war has been waged by satan, and as the war draws to a close (hope, pray, hope, pray, hope, pray… :)), evil knows what losing means and evil is pulling out all the stops…  Lucifer will not give up – which is why his destiny is secured in God’s chains in the lake of fire.  

Lord – all praise to You, Lord; please hear our simple prayer.  We ask you to give us eyes to see and ears to hear so we may discern your Truth from the popular lies and tales from false prophets.  We seek this wisdom in the name of Jesus.  Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayer.  Your will be done.  Amen.

I remember hearing 616 when i was a kid that would be some time in the mid 50's... Seems not much is ever new....

I also read some place that one can make 666 out of Micky Mouse.

666 is the number of a man....maybe 616 is the number of a mouse?    :P   ;D

When searching the scriptures to find the antichrist keep in mind the words of our Lord...

Although NG is just now reporting this, it is actually old news. It was first published five years ago.
