Anyone heard of them? If so, what do you think? I got their CD 'Fireproof' and (in my opinion) it's awesome! I love how they use that style of music to praise God!

Pillar is awesome I saw them at sonshine music festival last year and got my picture taken with Noah the guitar player.

Nothing like a Christian mosh pit...everyone is so polite ;D

We all have our opinions. Yours just happens to be wrong... LOL! Okay, I'm just joking. But I think it's awesome that a band can use that style of music to worship God... Of course, I think praising God with music is awesome in itself.

Lyrics, and a musical style that seems to focus on hype and shock factor more then musical talent. "Oh look, I'm playing a song in nothing but powerchords, but who care, because I can headbang while doing it" :P

I geuss that all depends on your idea of worship.

I'm not saying you are wrong for liking them. I'm just against groups who lack musical talent. They use hype to get to the top, nevermind skill.

OOOH... Music tastes and preferences are such a personal thing. I don't like metal christian music and head banging stuff. My hub likes "korn" style musc (i like a little bit). he is really into Kutlass right now, i like them but i am in a really mellow mood lately. My criteria for Christian music- whether it be rock,  r&b, or praise- be that it has at least one song title containing Jesus or God. that way i know i am not buying a band pushing "feel good" music, that could be interpreted as secular or Christian.

Hey, head-banging while guitar-playing is a talent. Can you?

Of course, almost all genres are heading towards 'shock-factor-ism', (LOL) so there's not much we can say about that.

I like Pillar for various reasons, including the fact that they are all Christians, and aren't ashamed to say so. There are many people who assume a singer/group is Christian because of rumours, or because they use God's Name in more than a vain reference. But not every god is God, and as a matter of fact, only one God is God. Just because they say they believe in God does not make a difference... Remember that verse that says even demons believe in God? If you like, I can look it up later. Anyhow, from everything I've read, there are fruits showing in their (the members') life. No one but God can know the heart of man, but even man can see whether there are fruits in another's life.
And, no, I'm not talking about being judgemental... ;)

That would depend on what you call talent. Is talent ablity to play, or ablility to play GOOD without the use of mixers and producers and promoters to dress it up for you?

All I can say is that if Tibby doesn't like them, they must be pretty awesome! I'll check them out and even follow Tibby's advice and let the money talk!  ;D

I find the best walking gun it Trident, the only problem is you have to use half a pack to get a good wad in your mouth. The best gum for beginners would have to be Bubbleyum. People will listen to what they like. As with any art, the emotional response is a consideration. I'm not a Pollock fan, yet he's considered to be 'talented'. And I'd much rather hear a child sing 'Jesus Loves Me' than to listen to opera.

 I can give you names and numbers of the best Bluegrass musicians in the Area, guy who have been playing for longer then I have been alive (a fact that is clearly demonstrated every time they touch a guitar) but they will never make it bigger then local venue’s because of a little thing called Music Television. MTV, VH1, CMT.

Then why don't they make a CD and distribute it themselves? ;)

It is a big problem all over the world, and not just in Music. One of the Musicians, Dr. Sam Smith, is a Ciropractor. He is the best in town, and the only one that will annoint you with oil and pray for you if you are in real pain! However, he doesn't play the popularity game, doesn't go to the big churches, or the country clubs, and he is really losing cash. Dr. Dement and Dr. Darr play the game and roll in the dough. I'm not to upset with Dement, but Darr leaves his clinets coming out in MORE pain then they went in with. And People don't see that because he plays the game. He also cheats on his wife with one of this College-age staff members. Still, he plays the game. >:(



They do :'( They all ahve at least one CD, if not more.
