Title: Pillar Post by: kestrel on February 21, 2004, 10:42:47 AM Anyone heard of them? If so, what do you think? I got their CD 'Fireproof' and (in my opinion) it's awesome! I love how they use that style of music to praise God!
Title: Re:Pillar Post by: Tibby on February 21, 2004, 12:29:24 PM Are they stilll around!?!?!?!?!?

Title: Re:Pillar Post by: kestrel on February 23, 2004, 11:26:31 AM Good music. ;D
LOL! It's hard rock, along the lines of Korn and Linkin Park. I like all kinds of music... Pillar's lyrics are really cool, too... 'Fireproof' lyrics... Here's a chance to show you how I feel A chance for you to see it's real To see just what I feel inside and who it is that's by my side I will never change my mind Try to torch me and you'll find You can't turn me or deter me No matter how you try You can't burn me (Chorus) I know where I stand and what'll happen if you try it I am FIREPROOF I know my heart and I just can't deny it I am FIREPROOF I tried to tell you but you wouldn't be quiet I am FIREPROOF I'll never bow down and you won't buy it I am FIREPROOF Now you know what I'm all about There's no chance I'll ever doubt The only one who can control me I extol the Almighty You want me to put it on the line And give yield to you this time See but I won't compromise and I realize It's my time to rise (Chorus) You'll never take me in the fire You'll never take my own desire If you like that type of music, or know someone who does, you should check it out! :) Title: Re:Pillar Post by: sincereheart on March 03, 2004, 08:16:46 AM I know where I stand and what'll happen if you try it
I am FIREPROOF I know my heart and I just can't deny it I am FIREPROOF I tried to tell you but you wouldn't be quiet I am FIREPROOF I'll never bow down and you won't buy it I am FIREPROOF I like it! "Fireproof" ;D Title: Re:Pillar Post by: new_self on March 10, 2004, 08:18:58 PM Pillar is awesome I saw them at sonshine music festival last year and got my picture taken with Noah the guitar player.
Nothing like a Christian mosh pit...everyone is so polite ;D ybiC new_self Title: Re:Pillar Post by: Sapphire W34P0N on March 13, 2004, 03:12:37 PM Korn? Pass.
Title: Re:Pillar Post by: kestrel on March 14, 2004, 08:01:19 PM I don't like Korn or Linkin Park, Pillar's just in that music style...
This is awesome: (http://pillarmusic.com/photos/new-photos/index-Images/6.jpg) Title: Re:Pillar Post by: Tibby on March 14, 2004, 09:23:32 PM I don't like Korn or Linkin Park, Pillar's just in that music style... Yeah, that is what I'm scared of. Quote This is awesome: (http://pillarmusic.com/photos/new-photos/index-Images/6.jpg) No, actually, it isn't awesome. It is unnecessary. The only redeeming part of the picture is the sweet looking axe. But that is blocked out by some ape, so... Title: Re:Pillar Post by: kestrel on March 15, 2004, 07:39:43 PM Quote Yeah, that is what I'm scared of. ::) Because of the lyrics...I know of several Korn fans who like Pillar, too... ::) Question: Do you like Korn and or Linkin Park?? Quote No, actually, it isn't awesome. It is unnecessary. The only redeeming part of the picture is the sweet looking axe. But that is blocked out by some ape, so... We all have our opinions. Yours just happens to be wrong... LOL! Okay, I'm just joking. But I think it's awesome that a band can use that style of music to worship God... Of course, I think praising God with music is awesome in itself. I'm just against groups who lack musical talent. They use hype to get to the top, nevermind skill. Title: Re:Pillar Post by: HopeAndFaith on March 16, 2004, 11:42:06 PM OOOH... Music tastes and preferences are such a personal thing. I don't like metal christian music and head banging stuff. My hub likes "korn" style musc (i like a little bit). he is really into Kutlass right now, i like them but i am in a really mellow mood lately. My criteria for Christian music- whether it be rock, r&b, or praise- be that it has at least one song title containing Jesus or God. that way i know i am not buying a band pushing "feel good" music, that could be interpreted as secular or Christian.

"Oh look, I'm playing a song in nothing but powerchords, but who cares because I can headbang while doing it" :P Hey, head-banging while guitar-playing is a talent. Can you? Of course, almost all genres are heading towards 'shock-factor-ism', (LOL) so there's not much we can say about that. Quote I guess that all depends on your idea of worship. I'm not saying you are wrong for liking them. I'm just against groups who lack musical talent. They use hype to get to the top, nevermind skill. Wow, that said a lot... So Pillar has no musical talent... ::) Ah. Well, I honestly think they have talent. ;D I like Pillar for various reasons, including the fact that they are all Christians, and aren't ashamed to say so. There are many people who assume a singer/group is Christian because of rumours, or because they use God's Name in more than a vain reference. But not every god is God, and as a matter of fact, only one God is God. Just because they say they believe in God does not make a difference... Remember that verse that says even demons believe in God? If you like, I can look it up later. Anyhow, from everything I've read, there are fruits showing in their (the members') life. No one but God can know the heart of man, but even man can see whether there are fruits in another's life. And, no, I'm not talking about being judgemental... ;) Quote OOOH... Yes. It isn't hard. I can also walk and chew gum at the same time! CALL RIPLEY'S! ;D Quote Of course, almost all genres are heading towards 'shock-factor-ism', (LOL) so there's not much we can say about that. There is plenty we can say. Money talks. Start investing in band with talent, and get all your friends to, and they will starting to change. Quote Wow, that said a lot... So Pillar has no musical talent... ::) That would depend on what you call talent. Is talent ablity to play, or ablility to play GOOD without the use of mixers and producers and promoters to dress it up for you? Title: Re:Pillar Post by: sincereheart on March 26, 2004, 07:29:19 AM Yes. It isn't hard. I can also walk and chew gum at the same time! CALL RIPLEY'S!
Doubtful till seen.... :P There is plenty we can say. Money talks. Start investing in band with talent, and get all your friends to, and they will starting to change. And who decides if the bands have talent? Tibby? :-X All I can say is that if Tibby doesn't like them, they must be pretty awesome! I'll check them out and even follow Tibby's advice and let the money talk! ;D Title: Re:Pillar Post by: Tibby on March 28, 2004, 02:33:32 PM Yes. It isn't hard. Doublemint is also good if you are first starting out. ;D 8) Quote There is plenty we can say. Money talks. Start investing in band with talent, and get all your friends to, and they will starting to change. And who decides if the bands have talent? Simple, the artistic community. If we get some real artists and musicians signed, the no-talent hacks like Brittany Spears and Korn wouldn’t last a week on any charts. Good music will win out over good gimmicks any day of the week if given half a chance. Ah, it's been told..... you must have missed it! ;) My baby boys are 25 and 22.... :P And it doesn't because why...? Because they've been voted as 'talented' by the very method you prescribed.... CASH! ;) I never said that, honey, now did I? Not sure who this is in reference to..... Though I'm not 'honey' I'll ask again.... Do you think you are more talented than they are? People will listen to what they like. As with any art, the emotional response is a consideration. I'm not a Pollock fan, yet he's considered to be 'talented'. And I'd much rather hear a child sing 'Jesus Loves Me' than to listen to opera. Title: Re:Pillar Post by: Tibby on March 30, 2004, 11:22:14 AM I didn't forget, you have not told me this detail. Yes, I am more talented them many artist out their today, which is why this topic makes me so angry. I know guys who DANCE on the fret board, but who will never be able to make it big because they will not play the game and sleep with the right bunch of people. I can give you names and numbers of the best Bluegrass musicians in the Area, guy who have been playing for longer then I have been alive (a fact that is clearly demonstrated every time they touch a guitar) but they will never make it bigger then local venue’s because of a little thing called Music Television. Is that a big problem in East Texas? ::) It is a big problem all over the world, and not just in Music. One of the Musicians, Dr. Sam Smith, is a Ciropractor. He is the best in town, and the only one that will annoint you with oil and pray for you if you are in real pain! However, he doesn't play the popularity game, doesn't go to the big churches, or the country clubs, and he is really losing cash. Dr. Dement and Dr. Darr play the game and roll in the dough. I'm not to upset with Dement, but Darr leaves his clinets coming out in MORE pain then they went in with. And People don't see that because he plays the game. He also cheats on his wife with one of this College-age staff members. Still, he plays the game. >:( Quote I can give you names and numbers of the best Bluegrass musicians in the Area, guy who have been playing for longer then I have been alive (a fact that is clearly demonstrated every time they touch a guitar) but they will never make it bigger then local venue’s because of a little thing called Music Television.
