Oklahoma Howdy to Petr,

I see this is your first post, so WELCOME!

That is an advertiser that helps pay part of the bills on Christians Unite. That is not Christians Unite software. I'll take the test the next time I see the advertisement. I have a new computer and run a firewall with child-safe turned on. As far as I know, it would be impossible for that stuff to get on my computer also, so I'll try it and let you know. I use Norton Internet Security and the automatic block functions of Spybot Search and Destroy. I also use a host list that is supposed to reject all of that xxx stuff, including email.

We'll see what happens. In the meantime, enjoy the forum.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to ForHimWebDesigns,

First, WELCOME to Christians Unite. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the Christian fellowship here.

God bless you for helping Christians share the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel of the Grace of God. Advertising involves money, but you are doing this freely as a service to God. That's not advertising, so please do post your link and other information. There are quite a few sweet Christians here with web sites and maybe others who could use some help. I'm not a professional or even close, but I make graphics for Christian web sites free of charge. That's just Brothers and Sisters in Christ helping each other to serve HIM.

Love In Christ,
Tom

AMEN JOSHUA - THANKS BROTHER!

"Keep Looking Up" is one of my favorite things to do and think about. I'm ready and waiting. Today or this minute would be a blessing. Until then, I pray that God will use me for HIS WILL and PURPOSE. I want to yield and serve HIM wherever and however HE leads me.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Sister Willowbirch,

Something like this would take some thinking time to digest. I'm somewhat surprised to hear about this. I thought that the all volunteer Armed Services were a huge success.

If we starting having attacks across America like they do in Israel, there would have to be some changes. I was just thinking about the old Civil Defense we had while I was growing up. Nearly every city and town had unpaid Civil Defense workers for all kinds of functions that related to attacks on our own soil. They were like an unpaid Army that could respond with food, water, and all kinds of plans to deal with military attacks on civilian populations. They also had many tasks that were preventive in nature (i.e. watching water supplies, etc.). There were Civil Defense volunteers of all ages, but most of them were retired. I would hope that something like this would be one of the first things to put back in action. However, combat was not part of their mission, and they were not armed.

I'm also thinking of some recent legislation that allowed retired police officers to carry weapons nationally. This has already passed and might have something to do with thinking that America will be attacked throughout our country. This would provide a large number of armed and trained people, most probably willing to volunteer without pay. Even the disabled could guard water supplies, power plants, chemical plants, railroad yards, harbors, shipping, and any number of other targets that have the potential to kill many thousands of innocent people.

I hope and pray that we never have to live like the people of Israel, but that could happen. If it did, we would either have to defend ourselves or die. In a worst case scenario, we would need a massive number of unpaid volunteers, but we might also need a much larger Armed Forces.

Sister, it is possible that terrorists could remove some of our choices if we want to survive. I would have to be a volunteer for the armed wheelchair brigade.   Cheesy  I would be willing to fight and die to preserve our freedom and protect my family. If we become like Israel, we won't have much of a choice.

This is something we all need to pray about.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Brother Ivan,

I will be praying for your ministry and your students. The answers for Veronika are in Jesus and HIS HOLY WORD. I pray that she will find help in Bible Study and yielding to the Will of God.

Oklahoma Howdy to Coyote,

Brother Jim, I'm sorry to hear about the illness in your family. I will definitely be praying for you. I believe strongly in the power of prayer, and I know that God wants to hear our prayers. I feel especially blessed that the sweet Christians here have prayed for me, and those prayers were answered.

I'm very happy to hear about progress with your doctor and good news about the medication working. Many here will continue to pray for you and your family, including me. I sincerely believe that prayer is the strongest medicine.

Love In Christ,
Tom

WHEW!

Let's make all haste to:

Let the devil do whatever he wishes without resistance.

Make our country a sewer of immorality.

Encourage the lawless.

Give up our freedom of worship.

Let the terrorists roam our streets instead of Iraq's.

Continue or increase abortion.

Welcome abomination in the eyes of God as good.

NOT!

57086  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Faith and Works ? on: September 13, 2004, 11:19:45 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to OneBook,

My stance on the Sabbath is very simple, for Christians - it is 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. I worship, pray, and study the Holy Bible every day. In terms of rest, I rest in Jesus Christ 24/7. Jesus is in my heart and I am in Jesus. HE is LORD OVER ALL DAYS - not just one.

Bluntly, the Sabbath is a Jewish ritual under the Law. It had many purposes for Israel, and it still does for the Jews who reject Jesus Christ as Very God, Lord and Saviour. Those who say that they keep the Sabbath don't know what it is or how to keep it under the Law. I've never met a Sabbath keeper that keeps the Sabbath. In fact, I've never met a self-proclaimed Sabbath keeper who could even explain what the Sabbath is. I don't say any of this to be critical at all - just the opposite. The Sabbath has absolutely nothing to do with Salvation or pleasing God. The GIFT of Jesus Christ on the CROSS is the only perfect sacrifice, and we can now worship, pray, and fellowship in HIS WORD 24/7.

Jesus Christ is my Sabbath. I have no problem at all with folks who wish to worship on Saturday, Wednesday, Monday, etc. If they have Jesus Christ in their hearts, it doesn't matter which day of the week someone worships. Realistically, a mature Christian worships, prays, and studies the Holy Bible every day. I do have a big problem with someone condemning others to hell because of the day they go to church. Here's a hint that will be shown in more detail about the Sabbath:  violation of the Sabbath was a death penalty FOR ISRAEL - UNDER THE LAW. Jesus Christ paid that death penalty, but that is just the beginning of PRECIOUS GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

It is quite Biblical and correct for a Christian to say that Jesus Christ is my Sabbath 7 days a week - not one.

Love in Christ,
Tom

I know some will roll there eyes but I wonder, does the devil have computer knowledge?

musicllover

Oklahoma Howdy to MusicLover,

As far as I know, there are only three ways to delete a thread on Christians Unite:  (1) ADMIN, (2) One of the moderators, (3) The person who started the thread.

I'm almost certain that nobody has hacked into Christians Unite. On the other side of the coin, I'm certain that many have tried. In fact, there was a time that hackers completely crashed Christians Unite and we started over. As far as I know, ADMIN has made it extremely difficult for that to happen again. I think that the worst we have seen is spam-bots slowing the system down. I'm positive that the devil would love to destroy Christians Unite. Many thousands of Christian web sites receive material from Christians Unite every day, so I'm absolutely positive that the devil has no appreciation at all for what ADMIN is doing.

A will or testament requires death. Jesus Christ was alive in Mat, Mark and John.

Please note this is NOT my view but one i have come across via the net.

Has any one else been having  problems getting into CU?

Oklahoma Howdy to Sister Reba,

Yes, I've had trouble several times getting into CU, and I reported it to ADMIN. Spambots trying to harvest emails are again the primary problem. CU is obviously set to refuse to give any personal information at all about users. The slow down is obviously worse when more than one spambot at a time is trying to do the same thing.

I haven't been to bed yet, but I feel that I must comment about the word "Testament".

I think that some rely too much on man's definitions, but here is a little more to think about in using man's way of thinking. One is supposed to be alive and of sound mind to make a will. This is usually done in the presence of witnesses. It is true that the will is not executed until the person making the will dies. Well, we do have a living person, God manifest in the flesh. However, there were many beneficiaries who benefited before HIS death. AND, there are more people receiving the PROMISES every day. I simply thank God that I'm one of the beneficiaries.

Tom

Brothers and Sisters,

I'm not new to computer security, but I am completely new to Windows XP. I really appreciate the help and advice in this thread. Every new link to XP security information makes me realize how little I know about XP.

It is sad there are so many ways to hit plain and ordinary folks. It appears that the number of ways to get you increase with each new version of Windows. I'm thinking that Bill Gates would make a great terrorist, considering that he appears to be holding all of us hostage.   Grin
