Welcome to Christians Unite!

Video games are fine as long as it doesn't distract you from God. Sports games are fine but I wouldn't play shooters.

Thanks for the list Brother David.  I have to admit that I love to play games myself and I have a Nintendo DS that I got myself for Christmas!  I am definitely NOT your typical Grammy!! Although I DO enjoy my sewing machine and a lap full of yarn and a crochet hook too!  TEE HEE!   Grin Grin

Hello GF,

Welcome to Christians Unite forums. I agree with David. Video games themselves are not a bad form of entertainment but it should be kept in mind that is just what it is ... entertainment. They should not ever become a major part of our lives and especially should never interfere with or lead us away from Christ.

There are some racing games and shooter games that are alright but then again there are many that are from anything that Christians should have anything to do with. Even though I'm not into playing them much myself I must admit that I have played a few with my son and my grandkids.

Thanks Brother David!

I appreciate the list, but I get confused on the number of systems and how different each one of them are.

My grandsons have some games that are really cute. I have no idea what they call it, but the controllers require considerable movement - and the games are track and field and sports. If they want to run fast, they have to move the controllers up and down quickly. I'm not talking about a button - rather the entire controller - and it's a pretty good workout. I'll just say that I had fun watching them, and it was completely clean. My daughter and her husband get to worry about stuff like that, and I must say they are doing a good job. All three of them love books, so we buy them Children's Books with Bible Stories. I'm very happy to say that the older two already have really nice illustrated Children's Bibles, and they are learning a variety of Bible Memory Verses. They have a church near them with interactive Bible School, and they regularly have homework. I'm pretty impressed with their materials, even for the little ones.

The teaching philosophy for bringing children up in the LORD is start before they can even talk. I think that the pre-two children understand more than we know. They have a time of Bible Reading and listening to Children's Bible Stories every night, and they look forward to it. I'll just say that their parents are making an effort to bring their children up in the LORD, and this makes me very happy.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 6:10-14 ASV  For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  11  Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.  12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:  13  neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.  14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.

im really big into gaming but i quit gaming for a long time and in that time period i got saved and i was devoting most of my time to God but then i decided to get back into gaming but i got addicted to it again and suddenly stopped reading my bible or playing praise music on my guitar..and i stopped planning a bible study class i was working on. And the whole time i was gaming again i felt like God was telling me to get rid of them because i lost my focus and passion for God...so i got rid of them and now i feel im back on track...so i guess im saying casual gaming is ok but if it consumes u and takes all your time and focus it can be a bad thing...

I can see how video gaming could become addictive. I'm happy that you got that under control and especially happy that you became Saved. I think the ultimate is to find things you enjoy that serve God, and it sounds like you have found some of those good things. I encourage you to continue. All of us are susceptible to allowing things to get in the way of serving God.

Ephesians 6:11-20 KJV  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;  19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,  20  For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Have you found a good church to attend? If not, that would probably help a lot to make more Christian friends. Reference being the Christians that we want to be, that's a life-long pursuit for all of us. I've been a Christian for over 50 years, and I'm still trying with God's help.

I just noticed a graphic that might indicate you're posting from a cell phone. Are you? If so, that would also mean that you're trying to read posts on a cell phone. I really didn't know if this was possible and wondered how easy or hard this would be. I think that you would also be the first to use a cell phone in using the forum. I have a cell phone, but I've never tried using the forum with it.

Thanks - I hope you don't think I was trying to pry into your business. I was just fascinated with the thought that it might be possible to use the forum with a cell phone. I have to try it the first chance I get. Mine in a touch screen and I might have trouble with fat fingers on such a tiny keyboard, but I have to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks again.
