Sister Maria = Aye Aye Sarge (or is the title bantam rooster? )
I think bantam rooster is a good title for sister Maria. Shes fiesty like a bantam rooster.

I had a little banty as a pet one time. I called him Charlie Wooster after the cook on Wagon Train. He was gentle as a newborn kitten to me but was just as fiesty as Charlie when it came down to others.
(My brothers couldn't come near me when Charlie was around.

yes..... fiesty.... but that was before.. now I've mellowed out.
but fiestiness is still there
IF
I let it come out which I haven't 'cause I must have self control.
Tell you what though sometimes it
REALLLLLY
hard to keep fiestiness in check.

It pays to have a mellow character (sometimes).

It's quite hard DW, imagine a 57 year old woman raising 2 more girls with BIG Attitude!! Sometimes I feel my blood pressure zooming past my eyeballs and then I have to go in my room and take a deep breath and say a quick prayer! They are home on spring break this week, so far I've had to go in my room and take a deep breath and say aquick prayer twice and that is just today!!

Sorry, I couldn't go to my room in that situation. I would be on top of that in a heart beat. Not even my grandkids get away with having an attitude around Pa-paw.

PR, these are my step daughters, and they had a lot of emotional problems when they came to live with me 7 years ago, at the time my husband was not a Christian and he absolutely did not want me to correct them, spank them, or punish them in any way. Today he is trying hard to correct the problem he created for himself and me, but it's not very easy. I think he was that way at the begining because he had never taken any active part in their life before then. But their childhood was very disturbing before they came to me. Now they feel like they don't need to listen to me because they have dad. This caused a lot of problems in my marriage too, but thank God that now my husband is saved and he cees his mistakes and is trying to correct them. He still doesn't let me correct them, because as he puts it he is looking out for my health. Needless to say I'm still praying abouth that.
