I'm doing better today. I'm sitting up with a cup of coffee, the forum and my studies. I'm even thinking of trying to go to the store for some supplies before the storm that's coming in gets here.

Hello Everyone!

I'm glad to hear that some are doing better. I don't have my coffee yet, but I'm thinking about it - just plain and strong. May GOD give us all guidance and strength.

Love In Christ,
Tom

GOOD MORNING BROTHER DAVID AND ALL!

YES - I want that HUG this morning, and I want to give you a HUG back.

I am more convinced than ever that fellowship between Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST is going to be increasingly important in the days and months to come. We don't know how hard things are going to get yet, but we do KNOW that we already belong to JESUS CHRIST! We don't know what's going to happen in this lost and dying world, but THIS WORLD ISN'T OUR HOME. OUR HOME IS IN HEAVEN WITH JESUS CHRIST FOR ETERNITY!

We don't know when CHRIST will come for us and remove us from this earth, but we do know that HE WILL come for us and that HE'S gone on before us to prepare a place for us. This world has nothing for us except the work that GOD wants us to do. We do have friends and family, but hopefully most of them are also saved and will be spending Eternity together with JESUS CHRIST! We are the imperfect and the unholy, but the HOLY AND PERFECT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR US. HE purchased us with HIS Precious Blood on the CROSS, and we belong to HIM FOREVER! This fact makes me happy, and I love to think about this many times every day.

Here's a precious FACT from GOD'S WORD for all of us to think about:  Our Faith in JESUS CHRIST is accounted unto us a Righteousness. The Law of Faith In JESUS CHRIST has set us free from the curse of sin and death. Most of all right now, I give thanks that we are SEEN IN AND THROUGH JESUS CHRIST! We are already MEMBERS of HIS BODY, and our life is IN HIS LIFE! This does not mean that we have already been made perfect and holy in this short life, but we are IN ONE WHO is already PERFECT AND HOLY. GOD is doing a powerful WORK in us that ONLY HE can do. The work of SALVATION IS FINISHED, but HE hasn't finished HIS WORK in us yet. HE has promised that HE will finish that work, and HE will even give us a glorified BODY like the one JESUS CHRIST has. In this short life, our part is to Pray, Study HIS WORD, and yield to HIS PERFECT WILL in our lives. We won't measure up in this short life, but we are IN JESUS CHRIST - AND HE DOES! This is an encouragement for us to keep trying, especially to please GOD. We can Pray that GOD will help us with our weaknesses and failures in this short life - knowing that HE will FINISH the WORK HE began in us.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 1:16-17 NLT  For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes-Jews first and also Gentiles.  17  This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Hebrews 12:1-8 NLT  Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  2  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven.  3  Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up.  4  After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.  5  And have you entirely forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you, his children? He said, "My child, don't ignore it when the Lord disciplines you, and don't be discouraged when he corrects you.  6  For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes those he accepts as his children."  7  As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Whoever heard of a child who was never disciplined?  8  If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all.

Romans 4:3-8 NLT  For the Scriptures tell us, "Abraham believed God, so God declared him to be righteous."  4  When people work, their wages are not a gift. Workers earn what they receive.  5  But people are declared righteous because of their faith, not because of their work.  6  King David spoke of this, describing the happiness of an undeserving sinner who is declared to be righteous:  7  "Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight.  8  Yes, what joy for those whose sin is no longer counted against them by the Lord."

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 NLT  20  For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in him. That is why we say "Amen" when we give glory to God through Christ.  21  It is God who gives us, along with you, the ability to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us,  22  and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment of everything he will give us.

Grin  Brother Bob, this begs the question, "Does your wife already know every single thing that you will do today?" If so, does that mean that she'll be with you? Last question, "Does this also mean that you aren't going to say a single thing to your wife today?" If no, you can easily get into BIG trouble if you say the wrong thing even once to your wife. If yes, she'll think that you're rude in refusing to talk with her, so you'll get into BIG trouble not talking to her. Frankly, I can't see how you can win on this situation.

I've been sitting here contemplating with my first cup of coffee for the day while reading my devotions, email and talking to a number of people about Jeremy.

Life in this world is so uncertain. We face many travesties and hardships in this world. A young man of just 21 yrs that bravely faced death that passed on because of cancer. I was just talking with a young mother with some young children that lives in Zimbabwe where they are facing the most severe economic problems, a failed government, and a massive outbreak of cholera that is causing many, many deaths and no means of taking proper care of the dead and dying. At face value it all seems so hopeless. Paraphrasing what this young mother said, In Christ we have a greater hope. A hope that is a fact.

I want to share one of the devotions that I was reading this morning that I think pertains to this very subject.

___________

The Light Brigade

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son." (Colossians 1:12-13)

By His grace, we have been snatched from Satan's darkness and been placed in the kingdom of light. However, we still live in a dark world hostile to the light. We are therefore soldiers of light, but as with any army, we are not to act independently, but instead "as a good soldier of Jesus Christ" (2 Timothy 2:3), we must follow the orders of our commander and act in accordance with established guidelines.

The Supreme Commander in this battle of light versus darkness is none other than God the Father, for "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1).

Perhaps, in this analogy, the field commander can be considered to be none other than Jesus Christ, carrying out the will of the Supreme Commander. He said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). "I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me" (John 6:38).

We, of course, are the infantry, the light brigade, as it were. "Ye are the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14). "Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober" (1 Thessalonians 5:5-6).

Our marching orders, our objective, and our methods are all found in the war manual, the Bible. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105). "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light" (Proverbs 6:23). What more could we ask?

___________

As Christians we know of the better hope that is in us. We also should know that we need to spread this word to others. To do our part "as a good soldier of Jesus Christ" so that many others will also know that better hope that is within us. If you are not telling others of Jesus then ask yourselves why. I am sure that any reasons that may come up will seem insignificant in comparison to the knowledge of so many that may be dying in their sins.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour, rest assured that there is hope. All you need to do is to reach out to Him. Jesus Christ is waiting for you to do so right now. There is no better hope, no greater peace to be had than with Him. Don't delay any longer. Then you can say I will not fear, for the Lord is on my side.

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Salvation, salvation from death under the law by God's perfect grace.

Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Rom 3:20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Rom 3:27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Rom 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Rom 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Rom 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 4:21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Rom 4:24  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

AMEN PASTOR ROGER!

Brother, I was also saddened by the death of Jeremy. As you point out, there is also bad news around the world - worse it seems by the day. ONLY GOD has all of the answers, and I hope that most Christians do go to GOD'S WORD in times like these. We have a PEACE that the world doesn't have - PEACE WITH GOD. HE'S in our hearts already, so we can have PEACE within us, as HE IS PEACE. The lost don't understand this, and they can't understand it until they pray for forgiveness and ask JESUS CHRIST to be their LORD and SAVIOUR Forever!

There won't be peace around us during this short life, but Christians can have PEACE WITHIN US. I give thanks that our HOPES aren't in or of this world, and our HOPES don't depend on us. We are just humans who fail frequently, but our LORD and SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST NEVER FAILS! I didn't even know Jeremy, but I've been praying for him. I've also been praying for people around the world who are suffering in a variety of ways and dying. The greatest sadness is knowing that many are dying without CHRIST. I'm sad about Jeremy, but I know that he's at HOME WITH JESUS. Jeremy isn't sad because he's had a glorious HOMECOMING. The sadness in this case if for us who remain in this short life. There is no comparison when one is absent from the body and present with the LORD. GOD can use bad times to draw people to HIMSELF, and I pray that hosts of lost people will STOP waiting and accept JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOUR. GOD foreknew all who would accept HIM before the foundation of the world, and they have already been chosen to receive the full inheritance of GOD. I realize this last sentence is hard to understand, but we're talking about the POWER OF GOD. He sends the invitation of SALVATION to us and already knows whether we will accept or reject it. GOD has a perfect foreknowledge of all things from Eternity past. The law of faith in JESUS CHRIST sets us free from the curse of sin and death.

Love In Christ,
Tom

1 Peter 1:2-4 NLT  God the Father chose you long ago, and the Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Jesus Christ and are cleansed by his blood. May you have more and more of God's special favor and wonderful peace.  3  All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again. Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead.  4  For God has reserved a priceless inheritance for his children. It is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

Study: Drinking coffee reduces Alzheimer's risk
3 to 5 cups a day at middle age lowers chances between 60 and 65% later in life

Middle-aged people who consume modest amounts of coffee can significantly lower their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, according to a new study by Finnish and Swedish researchers released on Thursday.

"Middle-aged people who drank between three and five cups of coffee a day lowered their risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease by between 60 and 65 percent later in life," said lead researcher on the project, Miia Kivipelto, a professor at the University of Kuopio in Finland and at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.

The study, which was also conducted in cooperation with the National Public Health Institute in Helsinki and which was published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease this month, was based on repeated interviews with 1,409 people in Finland over more than two decades.

They were first asked about their coffee-drinking habits when they were in their 50s and their memory functions were tested again in 1998, when they were between 65 and 79 years of age.

A total of 61 people had by then developed dementia, 48 of whom had Alzheimer's, the researchers said.

"There are perhaps one or two other studies that have shown that coffee can improve some memory functions (but) this is the first study directed at dementia and Alzheimer's (and) in which the subjects are followed for such a long time," Kivipelto told AFP.

She said it remained unclear exactly how moderate coffee drinking helped delay or avoid the onset of dementia, but pointed out that coffee contains strong antioxidants, which are known to counter Alzheimer's.

Well I've had about a pot of coffee and I'm ready for work.  Saturdays are my long days.  10 hours!  It shouldn't be too bad today tho as a lot of the women have gone on a Retreat this weekend.  I should be able to get a lot of paperwork done.

I'm just thinking that Tuesday is almost here.  How depressing.  My neighbor, an ex employee of the mission, is throwing an Inaguration Party.  I just don't understand it.  Even some Christians can be blinded I guess.  Too bad.  I only hope we only have to go through 4 years of Obama's reign and not 8.  Actually, I praying for a massive revival across the nation in the next 4 years.  Obama getting elected just shows what a pagan nation we have become.  I already knew we were in a pretty bad moral state but this proves it!

As Blackeyedpeas says:  I'll just keep looking up like I do every day!  Praise God!
