I have a question but don't want to start a new topic.
Brother Tom, in a thread you said that Peter was crucified upside down. I don't think it is in Bible because an article in ilumina said that the way he died isn't clear. Question is what is the source of your statement?
Hello Brother David, You're right - it isn't in the Holy Bible except in very vague terms and implications. See 2 Peter 1:12-15, John 21:18, and John 21:19. There is much information to indicate that Peter knew he was to die in the same manner as JESUS CHRIST. If you'll remember, Peter denied CHRIST three times and felt great guilt over this. Peter didn't feel that he was worthy to die in the same manner as CHRIST, according to early church fathers, and asked to be crucified upside-down instead. I don't have quotes right now from various sources other than Fox's Book of Martyrs. Here's a short quote from Fox's Book of Martyrs which is universally recognized as excellent: Fox's Book of Martyrs
Peter
Among many other saints, the blessed apostle Peter was condemned to death, and crucified, as some do write, at Rome; albeit some others, and not without cause, do doubt thereof. Hegesippus saith that Nero sought matter against Peter to put him to death; which, when the people perceived, they entreated Peter with much ado that he would fly the city. Peter, through their importunity at length persuaded, prepared himself to avoid. But, coming to the gate, he saw the Lord Christ come to meet him, to whom he, worshipping, said, "Lord, whither dost Thou go?" To whom He answered and said, "I am come again to be crucified." By this, Peter, perceiving his suffering to be understood, returned into the city. Jerome saith that he was crucified, his head being down and his feet upward, himself so requiring, because he was (he said) unworthy to be crucified after the same form and manner as the Lord was. Brother David, I also recognize Fox's Book of Martyrs to be excellent and true, but it obviously isn't the Holy Bible. I could only guess which sources Fox might have used, but it was a heavily documented time - The First Persecution Under Nero maybe in the time frame near 60-67 A.D. If this is a major concern for you, I do have a large library that I could search in, but the answer would be from non-Bible writers with no claim of being inspired. I hope this helps some. Love In Christ, Tom Christian Quotes 122 - The world's joys "Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again." John 4:13 The world's joys are fitful, uncertain, precarious - brooks which dry in their channels - their silver ripple ceases often just when they are most needed. Gospel streams provided for the refreshment of God's pilgrims, are, on the other hand, fed from the eternal glaciers - the hills of heaven. They are fullest when all others are emptiest. "He will refresh her as a river in the desert and as the cool shadow of a large rock in a hot and weary land." Isaiah 32:2 "I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 41:18-19 -- John MacDuff 1895

The "FOX's BOOK of MARTYRS" is an excellent non-Biblical resource for the history of the Apostles. There also has been a lot of archaeological information located that substantiates these stories.

I think that I like DreamWeaver's answer better than mine. I just needed to wait a few more minutes before looking. I did find other material with more information - but no sources. This is also mentioned in numerous Bible Dictionaries, Bible Commentaries, and introductions LATER written to various portions of Scripture from non-Bible writers. Many good study Bibles might have a brief biographical sketch of Peter containing this information. Love In Christ, Tom Favorite Bible Quotes 489 - Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

It is always good to search for the truth in biblical matters.

Brothers and Sisters,
I had an old guy nap, and now I have my coffee. I think we'll try to rest up some tonight and get ready for the results of hurricane Ike. We've already been told to expect flooding. Please pray for those who are about to feel the full force of Ike.

My prayers will definitely be with them. There are a few saying this could possibly be a record maker.
I think that I could use a couple of extra strength pots of coffee right about now. It's either that or a really long old guy nap.

My prayers will be with everyone, in the path of this monster called Ike. I heard earlier in the news, the storm surge is hitting Galveston. Better get out your waders your rubber ducky, and the buckets pots and pans brother.

Better get out your waders your rubber ducky, and the buckets pots and pans brother. I give thanks that we have a new roof since the last flooding. It's already held up under strong winds several times, and we don't have any leaks now. I also give thanks that my relatives have moved from Galveston to Ft. Worth since Katrina. This whole part of the country will experience flash-flooding, but that won't be anything like being in the hurricane. I think that I've only been in one or on the edges of one once, and I didn't like it. I'll just describe it as blinding wind and rain that is no place for man or beast. One also must consider that the wind is full of all kinds of debris that can kill, so those television folks who broadcast in 70+ mph winds aren't very smart. By the way, my rubber ducky drowned in the last flooding. I wanted a submarine, but my wife wouldn't let me have one.

They are saying on TV that the island of Galveston will;l be underwater for at least 12 hours. This news is from KHOU channel 11 in Houston. By the way, my rubber ducky drowned in the last flooding. I wanted a submarine, but my wife wouldn't let me have one. What happened to your waders?? All fishermen need waders................ I think it's time to get a cup of coffee!!

So far, it looks like most of the flooding is going to well East of us, so I might not need the waders. The weather folks might be wrong - we'll just have to see. We're in far SW Oklahoma, and it appears that most of the storms are going to hit SE Oklahoma. In fact, much of it might follow the path of a man-enhanced waterway that can actually be used by large ships all the way to Tulsa. Sadly, there are many vital things in the path that will have bad effects on the economy. I'm not talking about the hurricane lasting long over land or over the small waterway, rather of wind and water effects that generate more storms. For those of you who don't know, here's an interesting bit of information: YES - we do have a port in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It uses a series of locks on the waterway and is quite busy. It's sad that there is a potential for serious flooding far inland, including Eastern Oklahoma and Louisiana. How much we get in my part of the state will depend on the final path and how long the hurricane remains dangerous. If I understand everything correctly, the aftermath can many times be just as dangerous because of the massive amounts of water moved and rapid mixtures of air that many times causes tornados, severe thunderstorms, and more water from flash flooding. Please do keep all the folks in this part of the country in your prayers. Many people evacuating are coming to Oklahoma. We do have many facilities ready to go. Most of the big ones are in the Oklahoma City area. Again, if I understand things correctly, the worst water conditions will occur at about 2:00 AM this morning. A mixture of circumstances have come together for unusually high water conditions. Repeat, please pray for these people tonight.Love In Christ, Tom Favorite Bible Quotes 230 - James 5:7-8 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

My prayers are definitely with them all.
The hurricane is already causing some unusual weather all the way up here. It has pushed tropical like humidity here and varying temps from hot to cold. A 15 degree change in less than an hour. As a result we have been getting a lot of thunderstorms. Just a few moments ago we had a tornado cell go over head. The warnings came out after it had already gone slightly to the north of us.
