Because he decided to make that section for read only.

Brothers and Sisters,

Back to a serious note and the subject of this thread, I can't find a single thing that doesn't work perfectly.

The new forum software is fast as greased lightning, and greased lightning is pretty fast.  Cheesy

The new functions are great, and I'm having a hard time deciding which ones I like the most.

That quick reply function is really sharp, and I LIKE IT!

I like the ability to read more than just the last 10 most recent posts. The old software was limited to 10, but this software probably goes to over 50, depending on the length of the posts.

There's also a quick command at the top for reading all replies to your messages and another quick command to read all posts since your last visit.

I don't know if I can describe this properly, but all of the format commands in the reply and compose editor are much easier to use.

The Help System on the old software was tiny and really didn't have a lot of information in it. The Help System on the new software is MASSIVE, well organized, and contains detailed information on nearly everything.

The new software has a spell checker, so that put our CU Spell Checker Police out of business.  Cheesy

The personal preferences for viewing posts, private mail, and just about everything else is greatly expanded with many more choices.

We can have avatars now. YEAH!! By the way, ADMIN has just added a large selection of Christian Avatars to choose from.

There's a "News Box" on the top right that ADMIN can use to notify everyone about important changes or additions.

I love the new Private Mail (PM) functions. You can even set it to give you a pop-up window when someone has sent you a new PM.

In short, the options and features on just about everything are greatly expanded or enhanced, yet the speed of the forum software is MUCH GREATER! So, I think that the new forum software is a BIG WINNER! By the way, the name of the new forum software is SMF - Simple Machines Forum. The name of the old forum software was YABB SE. SMF is really just a name change and is from the same extremely talented group of software designers and coders. SMF was worked on for a long time, and it represents years of effort for a massive upgrade of YABB SE. The ADMIN's of forums all over the world participated with ideas and help for the upgrade.

I WOULD SAY JOB WELL DONE!!! - ESPECIALLY TO OUR ADMIN!!!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Don't feel bad. I had to ask also. Go to your profile, then click on "Look and Layout Preferences" that is on the left side. Then go to the "Use quick reply on topic display:" box and change it to "show, on by default". Then click on the change profile button. You will then see a quick reply box at the bottom of all the threads.

Hello Sincereheart,

Cheesy  There are NO stupid people here. We are all intellectuals!

For the quick reply editor, you have to go to your profile settings and turn it on in your forum preferences. There are two settings for on - on continually for every reply and on at the bottom of the forum page so you can choose whether to reply with the regular editor or the quick reply editor. I like them both, but I do prefer the regular editor for longer replies. I think that most or all of the commands are available from the quick reply editor, and I really can't remember the specific reason why I set it to be on only at the bottom of the page. I first had it on continually. Some people would probably be perfectly happy with the quick reply editor on continually, but there is something that made me want a choice each time. I just can't remember, and that decision was less than two day ago.  Cheesy  (Reference TV Advertisement) - Maybe I should have slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Love In Christ,
Tom
