No Christ in Christmas, no holiday to celebrate.

Christmas is here again! The big debate is on once more. The media and some other folks are saying dump Jesus Christ from Christmas. We need to re-name the holiday.
Why? Well, it seems that if you speak of Jesus Christ, you stand to hurt some folks’ feelings. When you ask these folks why they want to dump Christ from one of the two holiday which are celebrated in every country of the world, they become very self-righteous.
"Oh, it is not because of their own feelings. My, my, no, never! It is always the poor folks of the Eastern Religions who have recently arrived in Canada.
The fine folks from the east never seem to speak up for themselves. I wonder why, if they are so confound upset with our Christmas celebrations, why don’t they speak for themselves. They all have the gift of speech. Most of them are well educated. Most of them are fine folks and make ideal Canadian Citizens. Let them speak for themselves.
No, I don’t believe that the New Canadian’s really care whether we celebrate Jesus Christ or celebrate his supposed to-be-birthday at all. I am fully convinced that most of the complains come straight out of the thought tract of Canadians of European decent, who been in Canada for eons.
I was told this week that some stores have told their employees that they are not to greet folks with "Merry Christmas" while on duty, however it is permissibly to say, "Happy holiday". The same folks don’t object to "Happy Hanukkah". I didn’t hear of the media or employers complaining about the Muslims celebrating of Ramadan.
There should be no complain about any religions greets or celebration as long as the Charter of rights is obey. Our Charter of Rights grantees all Canadians freedom of religion, that is as it should be. If that is guaranteed for other religions, then what happened to the Christian Religion? Do Christ’s followers not have equal rights with all other religions in Canada?
Another thing, I hear, that the average Canadian family is expected to spend $1400.00 this Christmas. Both the media and the merchants had better stop and think about the effect it will have on their pocket books if Christians stop spending at Christmas time.
Do I hear the weak cry, "well we just want to change the name?"
Yes, but remember Christians buy gifts because it is Christ’s Birthday. If it becomes just "Happy Holiday" or Pine Tree Day or some other name, Christians have nothing to celebrate. No Christ in Christmas, no holiday to celebrate. No reason to buy.
I am told that One of the Chain Stores in the U.S. shut the Salvation Army Kettles out of their stores last Christmas and they now believe that Christmas' profits fell something like 10% last year. They are wondering if it was a back lash over the Salvation Army kettles. Maybe business had better take a second look at deleting Christ from Christmas. After all they might just end up with "mes" at the next shareholder’s meeting. Egg on their face wouldn’t look to good at the bank.

Hi Amisk,
Welcome to Christians Unite.
Yes we have the same problem here in the U.S. Many Christians have boycotted these stores that refuse to recognise Christ in the holidays. It has worked now with at least two of the store chains, Target and Sears. There is an article posted on this in the Politics area here.
This is all it takes, enough Christians to get sick and tired enough of this assault on Jesus Christ and Christians to finally take their stand for Jesus as they should have done long ago.

Onward christian soldiers! Marching off to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before . . .
We truly are living in the last days. Watch and pray, for we know neither the day, nor the hour.

Amen TalkerCat,
We truly don't know the day or the hour, but the time might be soon. Right now would be just fine for JESUS to come and take us home. Regardless, it's always time to watch and pray.
In the meantime, I've decided that if JESUS CHRIST isn't welcome somewhere, neither am I, and that place won't get a penny from me or my family.
Love In Christ,
Tom
Philippians 3:8-9 NASB More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,

Amen Brother Tom!! If I go into an establishment that does not greet me with "Merry Christmas", I walk out! I'd rather shop or eat somewhere else.... been doing a lot of shopping on-line and making my own pancakes!

Why do we need a worldly holiday to honor Christ Jesus? Is this not worldly thinking (ref.
Romans 12:2
,
Colossians 2:20
)? Which is more powerful: a worldly holiday or our personal testimony (ref.
1 Peter 2:15
, see also
Romans 12:1
)?
The Kingdom of God is within us (
Luke 17:20-21
), where the glory (
2 Corinthians 3:18
) and aroma (
2 Corinthians 2:14-16
) of Christ Jesus cannot be surrendered. Therefore, let us focus on the Body of Christ's spiritual activities (ref.
Ephesians 6:12
), not the maintenance of worldly traditions.

This post has not been active for several months and it is CHRISTmas time so... I was in Wal-Mar the other day. As you all know they have decided to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. What is really interesting is the PA system was playing traditional Christmas songs Silent Night, O Holy Night, etc... I also saw several items including music cd's with the word Christmas written on them. To me if they want to ban Christ they might as well go all the way with it. But wait.. It would cost the store money because then they would have less items to sell. I have seen this at several other retailers as well. Just a thought to ponder. God Bless you all and Merry Christmas!

The newest Wal Mart policy is to let the cashier decide what to say (Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, etc), depending on what they think the customer would like. There is a current list at AFA - American Family Association's web site as to the policy of most major stores in regards to Christmas vs Holiday.
