Like I said before, I was asking for prayer for the Holy Spirit, and not to get into any theological debates.

But it feels like I just threw my pearls before swine.

Jesus Christ is my LORD and Savior, and I so love God with all my heart, and am so thankful to God for everything HE has given.

David I will continue to pray for you that God will use you as He sees fit.

Quote
and am so thankful to God for everything HE has given.
All I can say is that it seems like you are asking for more.

The biggest question is what have you done for Him lately that warrants that He should do anything for you?  And that is a question to ask yourself.  Posting here would be boastful and it really does not matter to us.  You posts are full of "God if you would only do this for me I could do so much more for you" sort of sound.  And the Gospel is not about any of that.  It is about "God I have done all that you have asked, what more can I do for you".  And that is not a powerless faith.  Moses did not part the Red Sea by saying to God "If only you would allow me to save Israel, then I will serve you", no...God told Moses to do and Moses by faith did.

I will pray for you David.  But I can quite honestly say that I will not pray the exact wish that you have.  Instead I will pray that the Lord will use you as the Lord sees fit to use you...and even if that does not "match" what you had hoped for, then I pray also that you will not lose faith.

I am like most fathers.  I, like most, want more for my children than I have.

I am unlike most fathers.  What I would like my children to have more of is crowns to lay at Jesus feet.

David Oldham,

You might have just self-diagnosed your own problem. GOD has given you a huge buffet of pearls and more precious things. Reach out and take them - they are far greater than what you seek.

In the meantime, you won't be calling anyone here names. You might want to read the forum rules.

DavidicX,

You have been given some wonderful advice here. God does tell us to ask and we will receive but He also tells us that we don't get what we ask for if we ask amiss. Prayer is all to important and valuable to be wasting it asking for things for the wrong reasons.

I will reiterate what Brother Jerry said,

Quote

Col 1:9  For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Col 1:10  so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Col 1:11  strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
Col 1:12  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Col 1:13  For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
Col 1:14  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Col 1:15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Col 1:16  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Col 1:17  He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Col 1:18  He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
Col 1:19  For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,
Col 1:20  and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
Col 1:21  And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds,
Col 1:22  yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach--
Col 1:23  if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.
Col 1:24  Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions.
Col 1:25  Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,
Col 1:26  that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,

Col 1:27  to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Col 1:28  We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.
Col 1:29  For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.
