I've always been curious about this verse:

And they heard the "voice" of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:

since a voice simply cannot walk in the   garden in the cool of the day...

It has to have a meaning that we don't understand.

I've often wondered if the "voice" that was walking in the garden in the cool of the day was infact Jesus.

He is God too. God said let US make man in our image.

Jesus is referred to as the word.  Perhaps here in this instance he is referred to as the "voice".

Any thoughts?

RhondaR,
My only thought is that you have an intriguing thought, here.  I never considered that when God was walking the garden with A&E that He could have been in the form of the One we would one day recognize as Jesus.

I like the way you think...

Hello RhondaR,

There are various translations of this Verse that lead to more thoughts.

"Voice" from the translation could also have been "Sound". Many scholars believe the translation should have been "sound", as in the sound of movement or walking.

"LORD" from the translation was more specifically "YHWH, Yahweh, Yehovah, Jehovah, I Am, God of Israel".

Here's two translations for thought:

Genesis 3:8 KJV  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:8 NASB  They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Proverbs 17:6 NASB  Grandchildren are the crown of old men, And the glory of sons is their fathers.
