In my opinion Dc Talk is the best christian band ever! A shame that they are doing solo stuff now.. hope they will go back together again..

What will people think when they hear that I'm a Jesus freak? What will people do when they find that it's true? I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, cause there ain't no disgussing the truth

I like all of those too, except Daniel Amos doesn't ring a bell. I didn't know about DC Talk when did this happen?
I would have to say that my favorite is En Gedi, which is my husband, and son's band. To me they have a funky blues style... really nice.

So....is this a list of your favorites? I'm trying to find some good sounds for my 20 yr old son who just gave himself to Jesus around Christmas time '04. He tells me that the secular music sounds good, but the lyrics are aweful. And the Christian music has true lyrics (some anyway), but he says the musicality of Christian sounds are pretty poor. What do you think? Are their websites where we can go get a sample soundbite? I really don't want to buy him cds just to find out that he doesn't like them... (His birthday is coming up.) Thanks for your reply, selahjoy*

Ok since I just dated myself here goes my old and new list.
Old (1990 and before) Petra, Degarmo & Key, Sweet Comfort Band, Bloodgood, Guardian, Holy Soldier, Mastedon, Rage Of Angels, Stryper, Tourniquet, Steve Taylor, White Heart, White Cross, X-Sinner and David Zaffiro.
New (1991 and after) Kutless, P.O.D., Veni Domine, Yellow Second, Pillar, Project 86, Sanctus Real, Saviour Machine, Hawk Nelson, FM Static, Thousand Foot Krutch, Seventh Day Slumber, Jonah33, Falling Up, 38th Parallel, Day Of Fire, Mourning September, and Sky Harbor.
Ok think that lists them all probably forgot one or two or 100.

Thanks for your reply, selahjoy* What's his style? What secular bands does he like? I might be a bit too old, but of the current Christian rock bands I've heard, Kutless seems the best. I don't like thrash so someone else will have to guide if that is his tendency. But my list has some real oldies. I mean, I still have AND play the vinyl !!! Yup, and I own a Rega Planar turntable, which was really state-of-the-art back in the day, if ya know what I mean. I'd be happy to provide some samples if I have anything he likes. Let me know and we'll schedule a Limewire session so you can look me up.

im curious as to if anybody will read this since this topic is really old haha! anyway i like really heavy stuff like ultimatum and mortification. living sacrafice is also great and if you want some really really really really really extreme music try horde. i compare the horde album to spitting in satans face hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! YES! great stuff. to give a breif overview of the music, its black metal style. so its extremely noisy (old school black metal style) and the vocals are really harsh, like screeching almost. but when i need to calm down i listen to this traditional ska band called the iraelites (gospelreggae.com has their CDs) and ive been listening to ron hamilton again. i havent listened to him since i was a little boy. if you dont know his real name then you might know him as patch the pirate (any baptist should know him haha) but i love his voice so much its one of the most beautiful voices ive ever heard for a man. you can find his CDs at majestymusic.com
