I guess this thread is as good a place to jump in as any. From what I have read here, you all sound like you are members of PETA, That is ( People Eating Tasty Animals).  Grin
I like fried Chicken as well as anyone. Mama cooked hers original style when the hens weren't laying to good and added egg to make it crispy when they were. Going by that, I would have to say crispy, that is spring and summer fried chicken. Travels better for a picnic to. On the other hand, original reminds me of the cold winter evenings after doing chores. Mama's gravy and hot bisquits with that original style chicken. MMMMM Good!

Mama taught me how to fry chicken, so if I have to settle for KFC, I usually get a piece of each. Let me say also, the Colonel doesn't have anything on this old gals fried chicken.  Tongue
To quote some of the slang the kids use, " It's All Good".

Ok Bare, if your tastebuds are intact, do you really think KFC Okra tastes like true Southern fried Okra is supposed to? I personally think KFC Okra tastes like fried cardboard. Now their coleslaw is great. I can give a recipe for coleslaw that tastes just like theirs. Or rather, theirs tastes like my Mama's did and like mine does. ROFL

I take a medium sized head of cabbage. Chop it real fine. Shred a carrot or two. (This varies from KFC, but is a good addition to coleslaw, One finely chopped apple.) Mix all together. Then for the dressing. I take about a half cup of miricle whip, a quarter cup of milk, quarter cup sugar or equivelent artificial sweetner. A tiny bit of vinegar gives it a zestier taste and also keeps the apple from turning brown. I usually don't use the vinegar unless I add the apple. I mix the dressing all together then fold it into the cabbage. The Coleslaw needs to set for an hour or so to get the same flavor as KFC.

the you know what  coleslaw recipe

1      head          cabbage -- finely chopped
    1      medium        carrot -- shredded
      1/3  cup           granulated sugar
      1/2  teaspoon      salt
      1/8  tablespoon    pepper
      1/4  cup           milk
      1/2  cup           mayonnaise
      1/4  cup           buttermilk
    1 1/2  tablespoons   white vinegar
    2 1/2  tablespoons   lemon juice

Be sure the cabbage and carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces about the
size of rice kernels.  Combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, butte
rmilk, vinegar and lemon juice and beat until smooth.  Add the cabbage and carr
ots and mix well.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Your recipe sounds good, but not like KFC. Smiley I bet mine is easier to.  Tongue
